May 13, 2012I hear the computer physically turn on, but a blank screen remains. I recently purchased a new battery for the computer for the battery status read replace soon about a week ago. I sense that maybe there is a shortage in the wiring that connects what shows on the screen to the computer, but I'm not completely sure.

MacBook Pro :: Computer Was Steadily Starting To Slow Down And Freeze Everyone Once In Awhile?
Sep 13, 2009Well, here is my situation. About a few months ago my computer was steadily starting to slow down and freeze everyone once in awhile, then it started to get worse and finally I couldn't even get past the blue loading screen during startup. I figured this was due to some movies I downloaded and even though it is rare I may have got a virus. So I reformatted and lost all my data. The computer worked for a few months until this past week when I was in the hospital of all times to start acting up again. However, this time I barely had anything on it and it started to do the same thing again but much quicker though the process. Within two days I couldn't get past the blue loading screen.
I called apple, and they had me go through a bunch of restarts and all there trouble shooting processes. The computers hardware checked out perfect and we tried to delete some files to correct a software problem, but that didn't work either. So, his next option was to have me completely reformat once again to fix the problem. So, I reformatted once again, lost all my data once again and now it is doing it again the very next day.The MacBook is less than a year old and I purchased AppleCare with it. However, I was wondering since they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it what are they going to do since they don't know what is wrong?
If they give me a refurbished one, that would most likely mean that Im getting an older one because I purchases this laptop in September last year right before the new models came out so this is one of the very last models that were shipped. Do you think that they might give me a new model if I ask? I don't want to deal with a refurbished model when I spent this kind of money and on top of that bought AppleCare for another $350.

MacBook :: My Computer Won't Turn On
May 3, 2012I got alerted that I had the flashback virus and was told to download SOPHOS ant-virus software. I did this and did a scan once the scan had found the vrius I cleared it and ended the scan. I then turned off my MacBook and it won't turn back on again. It comes up with the apple symbol and that start up noise but it does not progress from there. The apple symbol turns into and error symbol and then dissapers. My computer then stays a grey colour.

Jun 3, 2012I used my laptop at work. when i got home, i plugged it in to charge, it was at 22% and it turned off after i checked facebook. i thought it was the outlet itself, but it seemed to work when i charged my phone. now my computer will not turn on and the adapter blinks instead of a solid color.

I have reviewed the Preferences of these programs, and see nothing to uncheck regarding auto startup. And I don't see anything related to this in System Preferences. Dec 3, 2014My laptop was dead then I restarted it. I hear the fan going and the the CAPS LOCK light comes on. But the screen is black. About a minute later the screen turns on and has a message that asks me to pick a language. then asks me what type of problem I am having with using my password. (Which I am not having). So I reset my password then it says itll restart. Only to do it again. I have a 2011 MacBook Pro 15inch.

Software :: Installed 10.5 Leopard / Trouble Starting My Computer
Aug 12, 2008I have a G4 10.4.11 and I tried installing my wife's Leopard 10.5. After I inserted the DVD the computer started the typical ''restart'' process. Once the computer turned into the installing screen, it informed me that I had to have a 10.5 version installed in order to install this version. At this point it only offered me two options... "continue" with the installation (which only led to the same message) and "cancel" which was the option I chose. Once I clicked on cancel, it offered me 2 sources to start my computer on... the DVD and OSX (which had the mac classic icon on).... i clicked OSX.
Now, every time I turn on my computer I see the following icon flashing on a grey screen for about 3 minutes: (URL)
Followed by these 2 folder icons also flashing after the other for another 2 minutes: (URL) (URL)
Also my mac has been freezing up a lot during the past month... I have to pull the plug out... I added 2 memory cards a while back each 256mb but apparently didn't make a difference... any tips on how can I cleanse my computer out of hidden useless files that might be eating up the memory?

Apr 19, 2009The past couple days I have been using my Macbook and all of the sudden out of nowhere the message that pops up when you press the power button on your macbook while in OSX would pop up out of nowhere. It would just come up out of nowhere without me pressing anything. My Macbook could just be sitting there and it would pop up.
Fast forward to today and I used software update to upgrade the firmware. After I restarted the computer my Macbook would not even turn on. No lights, no chimes, no nothing. I don't even get a light on my magsafe power adapter when I plug it into my Macbook anymore.I tried resetting the PRAM, resetting the SMC, reseating the RAM, and turning it on without the battery in and it still won't turn on.What else can I do? My warranty period JUST expired so I don't want to shell out $500+ to get this thing fixed. Could my logic board be dead?

I closed the computer and came back an hour later, and the light on the charger was still green and not amber. I've tried using the flashlight technique, and there isn't even anything on the LCD. I know the computer is on because it makes the chime and if I enter my password I can adjust the volume and play music. Occasionally, resetting the SMC will fix the issue temporarily, but it doesn't always work. What should I do?

Aug 20, 2014my Macbook Pro is not powering up, Yesterday I connected a camera that has the USB cable with the little transformer. And the Computer suddenly turn off! It´s not working at all... I really don´t know what happened..These are some of the characteristics of the problem:
1) Not even the battery Light its on when I press the Power button.
2) Not even the Light in front of the Mac is on when I press the Power button.
3) There is not even a sound of the cooler fan or anything.
4) When I connect a the power cable the first 10 seconds the light of the cable is off... Then it appears a little "Orange intermittent" light but nothing more happens.

Apr 19, 2012It's a 2.16 intel Core 2 duo with the ATI Radeon X1600 128MB video and I'm running OSX 10.7.3. It started happening on Snow leopard so I thought maybe upgrading to Lion would fix it but it has continued exactly the same. I've had an issue for a while now where the computer would just freeze all of a sudden. It happened after a few days at times while sometimes it happen right after a reboot.
Here are the things I've tried.
1. I upgraded to lion
2. I replaced the ram
3. Look at the crash log but found nothing
4. Ram mem check utility but it found nothing
I can boot the computer in safe mode by holding the shift key and it works perfect with no freezing but I loose audio support becuase I think it's not loading the audio drivers. Question is: Can I select what drivers I want on boot when starting in regular mode not safe mode in order to try to disable drivers until I find the issue? Is there anyplace else that I can find which driver caused the computer to freeze after a freeze/crash? If I can ID the driver is there a way to update/replace the driver if it doesn't come up in "software update"? I'm thinking it's the video driver becuase I would occationally get some weird things happening on the screen that I attributed to an older display.
