MacBook Pro :: Monitor Keeps Flashing After Upgrading To Yosemite?
Dec 5, 2014
After upgrading my MacBook Pro 13-inch (mid-2010) with 8 GB of RAM to Yosemite (10.10.1), the monitor streaks on and off (almost like it's an old dot matrix printer). I've repaired the permissions and the disk, but that didn't work. how I can get the monitor to stop flashing?
My macbook is so slow after upgrading to yosemite.
Here are the specs and the Etrecheck results. MacBook (13-inch, Mid 2010)processor2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 DuoMemory2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB And also here is the Etrecheck results, Problem description:My macbook is running very slow EtreCheck.
when I start up my computer, it starts loading and gets about a 1/4 of the way along then stops and brings up a blank screen that is sometimes flashing or just blank
I have a Mac G5 Dual 2.0ghz Running 3GB Ram 6 x 512 ddr pc 3200 400mhz i use it for music production, So as you can imagine i need plenty of ram to run some of the high end plugins, So i purchased 2 x 1GB Pc3200 400mhz Ram, Pushing up my total ram to 5GB, Plenty for what i need.
So i installed the ram in the 2 outside slots(the only 2 left) the mac booted up but wouldnt recognise the new ram,( thought i would save a few pound and went for the extra value ram) So i thought i would move the other ram up a slot and put the new ram in the first slot instead of the last one, it still wouldnt recognise the new ram,So i turn it off took out the ram, put the old ram back in its original slots, Turn the mac back on,......Nothing but a white light flashing on the monitor, & the fans going mad !
After trying each set of ram in pairs one at a time i managed to get one set to work in the first slot, 1 gb (2x512) once! Now i cant get anything to boot this mac up! the ram worked before, so why not now. Ive only been using a mac for about 2 years, and before that i built pcs for a living, & i know my way round pcs fine , but this has really got me.Please Please Please. if someone can help i would be very grateful, i need to get some important work finished. Best Regards.
After upgrading to OS 10.10.1 I keep getting the following error message: "Initialization Failure CrossOver is unable to initialize a critical component. Failed to import cxutils module int Python. See console for errors. The program will now exit."

optimising my iMac? I've upgraded to Yosemite (what a mistake!) and now the videos on the net are endlessly charging, my track pad is not that responsive and my iMac is soo slow!
I'm using an Envision 17" LCD with a Mac Book Pro, also have an Apple DVI-VGA converter in the mix. I know this monitor works fine with this computer but suddenly, I'm getting no signal.
Power cycling the monitor doesn't work; unplugging/replugging the video cable doesn't work.
Rebooting works, but if I try to change the resolution, the monitor stops getting signal. I know the computer "knows" the correct rez, but doesn't always offer it. I suspect a corrupt software component...
This monitor/cable works just fine with my 2009 MPro

I have bought MBA last month only. I could see the battery back up will be for 13 hours if I charge completely. Few days back I have updated OS to 10.10.1. Battery back up has been fallen down to just 3 hours after complete charging. I will either use safari to browse or see some videos. I have checked the condition of the Battery. Its showing Normal. No apps are using significant energy as well. Also it significantly increases the heat which I have never seen while using Mavericks. What should I do to get back my 13 hours battery back up.
Upgraded my iMac (2010) from Mavericks to Yosemite yesterday. Since when, anything I try to print to my Kodak printer grinds to a halt after there first few seconds of starting to print. The printer will print fine from another laptop. It will print test pages and direct photocopies all without a problem. Doesn't matter whether am connected via wireless or USB, the same thing happens. Am thinking I should possibly try to 'downgrade' back to Mavericks - if that is possible.
I have lost all my pictures stored in iPhoto in my mac after upgrading to os x yosemite. how to revert back to old version and get all my pictures back?
I installed Yosemite 10.10.1 on my iMac and my monitor keeps going to sleep while I am using it. I need to push the power button to turn it back on. And sometimes I have to hold the power button down to restart it and reboot the machine.

how do i stop two processes that are running in Activity Monitor took one out of trash and it says preparing to move desktop still running with another one been running for hrs now want to stop these.
I have a fresh install of Windows XP, service pack 2 on a boot camp partition on my macbook (13" first gen aluminum case) and a Apple LED Cinema Display attached to the mini display port.
I can't seem to make the Cinema Display the primary display (the "Use this device as the primary monitor" checkbox is always greyed out in the Display Property Settings tab). I also can't shut the macbook lid and continue to use it closed (with kb, mouse and monitor attached) like I would when booting OSX.
Is there some other way to make the Cinema Display the primary monitor, so I can leave the macbook closed when booting into Windows?
I picked up a new MacBook yesterday and I noticed a weird issue when coming out of "monitor sleep" mode, not regular sleep mode.
When I move the mouse, the external monitor shows what you see in the picture, kinda like a TV with no signal. The MacBook screen works fine so what I just do is unplug and re-plug in the DVI plug and everything is good again.
My 24 inch Dell monitor worked fine with my M1330 and other computers so I know it's not that. Does anyone have the same issue or maybe give me some light on this?
I have a 22" Dell external monitor on my MBP. I know that I just close the cover to my MBP to shut off the screen. What do I do in those instances that I want to use both screens? There has to be something simpler than restarting the MBP?
As said, my current set up is an HDMI - DVI cable (HDMI to monitor and DVI to adapter) and my DVI - mini DisplayPort adapter, everything is connected fine but when I turn on the monitor, it says cable not found... and nothing is displayed on the screen but on the Macbook side of things, it sees the monitor is connected (I can extend the screen and leave the screen) but other than that, it appears I cannot get an image on the monitor, pressing every button on the monitor does not work either.
Any other information that may seem necessary, let me know. I tried clearing my PRAM and clearing the power and such but nothing seems to work.
My screen starts to flash when my macbook Pro is on for a period of time. Does this mean it is going to die? Does the battery need to be replaced? Is the video processor going out?
i have recently bought a macbook white late 2009 from amazon, the macbook came without a hardrive and when i bought one all that came up is a flashing folder with a '?' following the guides online i bought a mac osx snow leopard disc to try and fix the problem but when i insert the disk on a reboot it just ejects, iv tried holding c on the reeboot but it still does the same thing,
My screen periodically starts flashing and getting huge white lines that run down the screen when I play games (only have crysis maximum edition) but then it stops and goes back to normal. Ive noticed that it doesnt happen all the time, and not at certain moments in the game (i.e. happens at one point but doesnt happen again at that same point a different time) and it will stop if i go and look only at a wall. Is this normal or is my MBP F'd?
