OS X Yosemite :: Messages Not Working Properly - Conversations Not Syncing

Nov 30, 2014

Macbook Pro 15" Mid-2010, Mac OS 10.10.1; iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.0, Messages

When I receive an iMessage on my iPhone, the message is successfully pushed to my Mac and I get a notification in Notification Center. That's fine. However, when I launch Messages either by clicking the notification when it appears or by opening the app, no conversations appear (window displays "no conversations selected") and after a while it just leaves me with a blank window and only minimize / fullscreen enabled. The majority of options on the dropdown menus are also greyed out.

Considering that the messages themselves are successfully getting pushed to my Mac, I don't think it's an account issue. It seems as though the app is getting hung up trying to load up my conversations.

I originally had this issue on 10.10.0 so I thought that it may have been a bug and updated to 10.10.1. It only started happening a few days ago, I've been running Mac OS 10.10.X since several days after launch with no issues.

OS X Yosemite :: Messages On Mac And IMessage On IPhone / IPad Not Syncing

Dec 1, 2014

I'm running Yosemite on Mac and iOS 8.1.1 on iPad and iPhone. When i setup Messages on my Mac a couple of months ago all conversations were synced up between all 3 devices. i've continued many of those conversations on my iPad and iPhone but when I opened Messages on my Mac today i noticed that they had stopped syncing about 2 weeks ago. Now when i try to send a message from my Mac it sends it as SMS not as iMessage. how to correct both the SMS issue but more importantly the sync?

OS X Yosemite :: Printer Not Working Properly

Dec 5, 2014

I have a Canon LBP6000 laser printer. I downloaded the Yosemite driver from Canon after updating to Yosemite, and the printer worked up until a few days ago. Now, I can't print. The printer status monitor says "printing" with a status bar, but nothing happens.

I have tried remedies such as deleting all printer drivers, deleting the printer, resetting the printer system, restarting the computer, reinstalling the printer, resetting PRAM, updating to 10.10.1. Nothing has worked so far. It was working fine a few days ago!

I'm on a 2008 MacBook OS X 10.10.1.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Automatically Expand Conversations In Viewing Pane To See All Messages In Thread

Jun 22, 2012

I'm getting super annoyed since apple has started condensing the conversation in  mail in the view window.

They have added the "See More from xxxxxxx" in the middle on the converations view pane.

How can you have those always automatically expand?  It's a super pain, because every single conversation I have to look at what I last wrote.

OS X Yosemite :: Previous Conversations On IMessage Disappeared On Mac?

Dec 10, 2014

I have been using imessage on my laptop, ipad and iphone for months and they were all working fine. However today, I was unable to send any messages on my mac but still could do so on my ipad and iphone. After resigning into my account and restarting my computer, i could receive and send messages again and they all sync to all three of my products. However, the previous messages on my laptop have disappeared. All that I have left are the most recent messages that I've sent to one person. The messages between me and other contacts have disappeared as well. Can I easily recover these messages?

OS X Yosemite :: Image Capture Not Working Properly With New IPhone

Dec 1, 2014

Image Capture 6.6 for the Mac worked fine with my iPhone 4S, which I recently replaced with an iPhone 5C. With the 5C, two things are missing from Image Capture--

1) the small button with the red strike through circle to delete photos

2) the box you can check to delete photos after importing them.

How can I get these two things back?

ICloud :: Its Not Syncing Bookmarks Properly Anymore?

Mar 18, 2012

icloud isn't syncing bookmarks properly anymore. It was working fairly well for a while there. I seem to have some instances of bookmark deletion being replicated but not bookmark addition. This isn't consistent though. I don't have any major duplication of hundreds of bookmarks (yet) but my new ones aren't always appearing everywhere as they used to.

OS X Mountain Lion :: IMAP Is Not Syncing Deleted Messages

Dec 9, 2014

I have been cleaning up my Gmail account through the web browser the past couple of days, I have over 6000 messages spanning 8+ years (I know, that's terrible).  When I delete or archive a message in Gmail web browser one one computer, and then go back to my main computer where I use Mail, it still shows over 7000+ emails and doesn't seem to be syncing (or deleting) the messages I have done on the web browser side.  It is set up with IMAP and syncs new messages fine. It even deletes new messages that come in and are deleted, just not these old ones.

Do I need to delete the account on my Mac and recreate it?  If so, should I also delete all mail contents in the Library Mail folder?

Software :: Mail Not Counting Unread Messages Properly?

Sep 8, 2009

I have two Imap accounts, gmail and one other and often the Mail program does not properly count the number of messages that are left unread. Frequently I will read a message in the unified "inbox" and then the same message will still be left "unread" in the gmail inbox. I'm using Snow Leopard on a uMBP-17, however this problem has existed for years on my other MBP.

OS X Yosemite :: IMessage Is Not Syncing On 3 Devices

Dec 3, 2014

I have an iPhone 4s with IOS 8, an iPad 2 with IOS 8, and a mid-2011 iMac running Yosemite. All are updated. The iMessages on my three devices do not sync. An example: This morning I sent an iMessage to a friend from my phone after she  sent me a message from her Android phone. The messages do not appear on my iMac or iPad, just on the iPhone. I completely deleted said contact from my contacts on all devices, but when I added her back, the same message/no message situation existed. I read the following about "continuity" on the apple website:

With OS X Yosemite and an iPhone running iOS 8, you can send and receive SMS text messages right from your Mac. So when friends text you — regardless of what phone they have — you can respond from your Mac or your iPhone, whichever is closest.2 All the messages that appear on your iPhone now appear on your Mac, too, so your conversation is up to date on all your devices. You can also start an SMS or iMessage conversation on your Mac by clicking a phone number in Safari, Contacts, Calendar, or Spotlight.

ICloud On Mac :: Safari History Not Syncing Across Devices With Yosemite And IOS 8

Dec 11, 2014

I have a MacBook Pro with the latest update of Yosemite installed, an iPad 2 with iOS 8.1.1, an iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1.1 and other things seem to be syncing like my bookmarks, reading list, and all other iCloud data as well as iMessages and text messages. But the one thing that does not seem to be syncing is my browsing history in Safari.

I've tried going into iCloud settings on all three devices and turning off Safari sync and then turning it back on but no luck.

I have a 2012 macbook pro, OS X yosemite 10.10...I've had it for around a year. Originally, the messages app worked fine, but then within the past 10 months or so, it hasn't been working. It lets me sign in, and shows my messages from last January, but all of the contacts are red. OS X Yosemite :: Can't Screen Share Using Messages

Dec 7, 2014

I tried using Messages today to share my friend's screen but kept getting this error message:

Please make sure that Screen Sharing (in the Sharing section of System Preferences) is enabled on the computer to which you are attempting to connect. Also make sure your network connection is working properly.

At first we tried using our iCloud accounts but screen sharing just wouldn't initiate. I tried doing a video conference just to test the connection and video worked without a problem. Then we tried using our Gmail accounts and still couldn't get a screen sharing session to initiate.

I had my friend adjust her Screen Sharing preferences in System Preferences (we tried half a dozen combinations) but I am fairly certain that one can use screen sharing in Messages with iCloud accounts without turning on Screen Sharing in System Preferences. Either way, turning on Screen Sharing in System Preferences did not work.

OS X Yosemite :: Resolution During Screen Shares In Messages App

new screen sharing ability in messages app.  I noticed that when I shared the screen of a coworker who uses 2 external monitors I saw both his screens but they only took up about half my screen on my laptop and the resolution was so small I would could hardly read it.  Is there a way to make it use the whole screen so it is bigger.  A couple other things I noticed was that by default both the person sharing their screen and the person viewing the screen had control of the mouse.  Is there any way of restricting that or at least controlling when the person viewing gets control?  Also is there a way to only share one monitor if you are using multiple monitors .

OS X Yosemite :: Messages Window Moving On Activation?

Dec 5, 2014

Ever since I updated to Yosemite I've noticed a strange behavior with the Messages window. If the Messages window is partially obscured behind another window and I click in the Messages window title bar area, the window comes to the front but it's in some sort of "move pending" mode. The next location I click is where the window is moved to. Is this a new "feature" of Yosemite? I may have turned on some preference without realizing it. Seems to only do it with the Messages window.
