i have just purchased a MacBook Pro off a friend and so it has recently been restored to factory settings and upgraded to yosemite. I use eBay a lot but have discovered there is no app for eBay. Then i found out you can get notifications from Safari. I know eBay is one of the websites the websites supported but the prompt pop-up isn't appearing when I'm on the website. I'm logged in too.

OS X Yosemite :: Shows Contact Name In Message Notification But Not In Messages Itself

Dec 12, 2014

I have iMessage/SMS forwarding turned on on my MacBook pro. When I type a new message, it allows me to search by contact name, however when I select a contact, the name disappears and Messages only shows the contact number.  When I get a notification, the contact name shows, but the Messages window still only shows the contact number.  iCloud is turned on and contacts are syncing.

I've seen several replies that say to go to "details" in the Message account tab, but once I enter my password there, it doesn't show me anything new.  I don't use Messages on my Mac very often, but I'd like to try to solve this issue.

OS X Yosemite :: Messages Not Showing Up In Mail - But Showing Up In IOS

Dec 4, 2014

My email messages for one Google account no longer show up in my OS X Mail client.Case info:This may have occurred after I enabled the 'All Mail' to Apple Mail for the account, then removed it once I saw it was adding every single message I deleted since the beginning of time. Still, that doesn't explain the following...My email messages for another Google account does show up in my OS X Mail client. They have exactly the same IMAP settings other than username and password. My email messages for the account that doesn't work, shows up fine on my iPhone/iOS and gmail.com.None of the messages in the inbox or folders/labels show up. The count is zero. However they all show up fine in folders in iOS and on gmail.com.There is an indicator for one new message in the inbox, but none show.

OS X Yosemite :: Calendar - All Day Events Are Not Showing

Nov 30, 2014

I have been using  Apple Calendar for quite some time but after I upgraded to Yosemite All day events does not show in the calendar any more. Other events in my calendar is showing.

Environment:

1: I'm on Macbook Pro Retina, running Yosemite 10.10.1

2: Calendar is version 8.0 (2026)

3: I am using Google Calendar, added as account to Calendar

Problem/Bug:

This has been working fine on Maverick until this upgrade and I think it is a bug in Calendar.

1. I tried to add an all day event from Calendar, using my Google account calendar

2. Event is saved, but once saved it isn't shown in Calendar.

3. When I login to my Google account calendar, the event I created just created is shown nicely there!

I then tried adding a new calendar using my iCloud account, but same thing happened:

1. I tried to add an all day event from Calendar, using my iCloud account calendar

2. Event is saved, but once saved it isn't shown in Calendar

3. I once again try, this time by logging into my iCloud account, the event I created just created is shown!

This is really weird and a major issue as all-day events are kind of important to see when you are planning and scheduling meetings.

One additional thing, I'm not sure if it is related, I have Time zone support turned on as I am working across multiple time zones.

OS X Yosemite :: When Log Onto Macbook / User Account Isn't Showing Up

Dec 1, 2014

There was one time where my wi-fi wasn't connecting so I tried to turn it back on. A window popped up but I had alrdy clicked enter before I read it, but it said something like "...will change settings, is that okay...?" And then wi-fi still would not connect. So I tried restarting my computer, but when it turned on, my user account did not show up and all there was on the screen was two boxes that asked for name and password. I was the only person using my macbook so I never set up a password for it.

OS X Yosemite :: Flex Showing Up As Connected / Don't Have A Fitbit

Dec 8, 2014

Since Yosemite I've been leaving Bluetooth on (for Handoff), and I've noticed nearly every day that a device called "Flex" connects. After a quick Google search it seems to be a Fitbit. I don't have a Fitbit, but live in an apartment complex, so I assume it's one of my neighbors. I can disconnect it, but it keeps connecting again. I've never had a Fitbit, Is there any way I can block it from connecting?

OS X Yosemite :: Unread Apple Mail Showing As Read

Dec 3, 2014

I just converted a few of my Bluehost-hosted email accounts from POP to IMAP. These accounts and Apple Mail, itself, is on my hard drive (not in iCloud). For some reason, after about five minutes of sitting untouched in my Yosemite Apple Mail inbox, emails sent to these three addresses appear to be "read." The blue dots disappear, even though I haven't clicked on them. Seriously, they haven't been touched. That's not true of the email accounts I have with two other providers (CoreComm and GoDaddy) that I left as POP accounts. They stay marked as unread until I actually click on them. What could be causing this to happen?

OS X Yosemite :: Image Capture - Scanner Not Showing As Device

It's an 8800F. I have installed the latest Canon drivers (today) and MP-Navigator and I can at least scan OK. But I would like to be able to scan directly within applications (as I was able to on my old OSX 10.6 system), ie, by selecting the scanner as a device within the application.

But the scanner does not show as a device in applications, or within Image Capture.

Applications :: Domain Name With Capital Letters?

May 8, 2009

I am new to the use of Mac (and to the "administration" of computers in general).

I need to run some program that uses the domain name for the license.

When I checked System Preferences > Sharing > Remote login on,

There is a message saying "To log in to this computer remotely type "ssh name@xxx.XXXXXX.XX".

Now, in order to my program to run, I need to change the characters in capital letters (from the domain name) to lowercase. ie. I would like to see a message of the sort "To log in to this computer remotely type
"ssh name@xxx.xxxxx.xx".

Is this possible? How can I change the domain name?

Software :: All Fonts Have Changed Into A Capital A?

Mar 22, 2009

A friend passed on a G4 laptop with a very weird problem. My own mac will never be updated beyound 10.3, the version on this laptop looks like 10.4.

All system fonts have changed. Some windows are still okay, like About this Macintosh. As for the rest all are the same capital A with a square around it. I know OSX won't let a user change the system font like Classic did. I read Tinkertool most likely won't do the job. I verified and repaired the permissions. Tomorrow I'll try MacJanitor and Onyx. I'm not comfortable with the Terminal. I do not yet know if another user on this laptop, which isn't created yet, might have the same problem.

Any idea how to solve this? Ever heard of a similar problem?
