MacBook Pro :: Non Capital Of Letters N And P Keys - No Output
Aug 31, 2009
I have a problem with the non capitals of the letters N and P. When I press them normally nothing happens but when I hold down shift I get the capital. So it seems it is no hardware problem?
My macbook pro is acting odd.I can't turn off the CAPITAL letters. So when I try to use my main password to login I can't get in. I'm stuck at the initial screen.
My keyboard only types CAPITAL LETTERS. When I restart the computer it is taking ages to boot and words "Boot Safe" appears in red on the screen. Mail search is not working and nor is spotlight
Info: MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.3), OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 actually
I am new to the use of Mac (and to the "administration" of computers in general).
I need to run some program that uses the domain name for the license.
When I checked System Preferences > Sharing > Remote login on,
There is a message saying "To log in to this computer remotely type "ssh name@xxx.XXXXXX.XX".
Now, in order to my program to run, I need to change the characters in capital letters (from the domain name) to lowercase. ie. I would like to see a message of the sort "To log in to this computer remotely type "ssh name@xxx.xxxxx.xx".
Is this possible? How can I change the domain name?
I cant use the right shift button to get capital m or j. Theres no problem with the left shift button. Im using MacBook unibody with 10.5.7 but its been so since I bought it.
My 2009 MacBook keyboard won't type letters. just the number keys and symbols work...any advise?. Is this a setting issue. No physical damage. Also the track pad acts like only secondary click works. When I tap or click it activates "secondary" function
My sound keeps turning off. When I check the settings, the output device switches randomly between Internal and Digital output. I have no idea where the Digitial Output is coming from and this started about a month again. It switches randomly and then I loose all sound for a few seconds. Sometimes it happens once then stops for a few days, other times it switches back and forth for 5 min. No idea!!!
I use an external monitor with my macbook, it's a couple of years old 17" Sony TFT. I connect it to the macbook through a DVI cable into the adaptor, into the mini DVI port on the mac. About 90% of the time I do this, the second display shows the correct graphics but is tinted fluorescent green, however if I play aorund enough with the connection, it goes back to full colours. Is this something a genius could fix, or do you have any recommendations about what to do?
Twisted body, slanted keys, loose keys, battery cover, and freese trackpad. Lets see how many members in this forum is suffering from Apple's poor Quality Control in these new Macbooks!
For some reason, I can't get Logic Express 8 to output audio to my Mac's attached speakers. It outputs fine through my M-Audio interface, though, but I'd just like to listen without headphones.
I have a white Macbook, Intel Core Duo 2, 2 Gb Ram. (October 2008) Under Leopard, my volume (audio output is a shame); under bootcamp with Windows XP on the hard drive, volume is almost double: is there any work around on this?
Yesterday, I bought a new 60W Macbook charger. Today, I charged my Macbook and when I turned it on, the keyboard was typing in foreign letters. Restarting didn't help.
For the past couple months,I've had to deal with shift+r not working . the only way i could get a capital r was with caps lock. and its gotten very annoying lately.
i know its a software error because ive used 3 different keyboards and i get the same problem with all of them. What could be wrong? I have a PowerMacG5 on OS 10.5.8.
A friend passed on a G4 laptop with a very weird problem. My own mac will never be updated beyound 10.3, the version on this laptop looks like 10.4.
All system fonts have changed. Some windows are still okay, like About this Macintosh. As for the rest all are the same capital A with a square around it. I know OSX won't let a user change the system font like Classic did. I read Tinkertool most likely won't do the job. I verified and repaired the permissions. Tomorrow I'll try MacJanitor and Onyx. I'm not comfortable with the Terminal. I do not yet know if another user on this laptop, which isn't created yet, might have the same problem.
Any idea how to solve this? Ever heard of a similar problem?
all of a sudden tonight my keyboard is missing out letters when i type and when i go back and hit the key again it wont work but if i wait a minute or 2 it works but it happens with all the keys not just one in particular and sometimes now they seem to stick so if i press the letter "a" it will come out as aaaaaaaaa
my trackpad is staring to go where it wants to even when i'm not touching it and also when i use 2 fingers to zoom i have to lift my 2 fingers off the trackpad twicee sooo that it actually works
I have found a previous conversation, see community converation titled: Label Y-Axis as letters, not numbers?
it describes how to do what I want. I understand this described process but I cannot figure out where to place the "lookup" formula for it to work. Do I select the whole table, one column, etc. I have tried to recreate the screen shot sample but get stumped at the formula placement. I need to graph reading levels from a-z with the y-axis being letters not numbers and this old conversation has created this. I have been searching the web for 4 hours and got no where until I found this discussion and now I am so close...
The keyboard of my macbook air 11´ is typing symbols instead of letters and so I´m not able to introduce my password. I tried to enter as a guest and to Change the Settings or the language but the Problem remains.
My notification pop up within os x is not displaying font correctly and instead showing font with this format "[A]" and don't know what to do. I have messaged apple.

A friend bought a MacBook Air in New York recently. The trouble is that we have 29 letters in our Norwegian alphabet, "æ ø å" in addition to the English ones. Is there any way to code the keyboard to write those Norwegian letters?
