currently when I use quicklook on avi movies it does not display the video, it does however work when i open the video in quicktime. an upgrade or program that will fix this?
View 8 RepliesIs there any way to use Quicklook from within Spotlight search results? I'd like to be able to do a Spotlight search and hit the space bar for a quick Quicklook look before actually launching the program.
I'm guessing this isn't possible, since hitting the space bar only inserts a space in the Spotlight search box, but thought I'd ask.
I been trying to quicklook files without extension that are plain text, like make files. I had found some really useful website likes this one (URL) but it seems I always need to declare a extension.
So I would like to know if someone knows how to quicklook text files without extension.
After updating to snow leopard my quicklook doesn't work anymore. Whenever i select a file and hit space the quicklook ui pops up but it doesn't actually show any content so I'm just stuck with a grey box.
I've been looking on the web the last week but can't find anything.
I realized recently that ODT files (whether they're from NeoOffice or TextEdit) weren't working in QuickLook for me, but they're supposed to. I tried making a new temporary account on my MacBook (same computer) to test it, and while in that account, I can QuickLook any .odt. I should also note that .odt's in the Finder on my main account have a plain document icon, but when I'm in the temporary account they show the .odt icon. It's possible I accidentally recklessly deleted some file or something I shouldn't have when I was uninstalling NeoOffice or something, and if someone knew where the applicable file is supposed to be, I could copy it from the temp account to my main account.

The same author made one for zip files and it works fine. Just can't get this one to do anything.
I've upgraded two computers to Snow Leopard and the one issue I'm having is .doc files, .xls files, and PDF files, the icon does not show the file when in column view. When I'm in icon view, cover flow, or even on the desktop, I can see the the thumbnails of the file just fine, but in column view, it does not work. This did work in Leopard. I should point out that the bug does not happen for movie files in column view, just mainly .doc files.
I've tried restarting, and this is happening on a Mac Pro early 2008 and on a MacBook Pro, early 2008.
I am currently working with very large files(mostly HD video. 3GB and more). When selecting a file, the finder try's to preview it and freezes. This means that every time I select a file, I have to wait several minutes until the file is cashed and I can continu working.
Can I prevent the finder from previewing large files?
is it possible to set "loop" movies & audio files in quicklook so that you don't need to press play again all the time? is there anywhere a setting or "workaround" (aka "break" into some pref-file and set the preference somewhere to "loop")

Had an issue with my Macbook Pro recently in that it wouldn't start up. A friend got it sorted but when I booted up had to put all my details in and instal all new updates. I didn't lose any of my data from my machine it had all been moved to a Previous Systems folder on the hard drive. No problem, imported everything back to the current folder. Anyway as soon as I tried to watch anything that had been bought through the iTunes store wouldn't work. The screen opens and the timer ticks away like it's playing but no sound and just a grey box.

Just got my new Retina MacBook Pro... when I try to get videos to go full screen in anything (youtube, cnn, etc.) only the top left 1/4th displays the video, while the rest of the screen is left blank and turns white. Using google chrome canary. What can I do to make videos go full screen?

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo i bought a 3.50 cable from ebay that plugs into the back of my Powermac G4 and allows it to be put on a tv via svideo or composite vga to svideo/composite so i plug it in and i get nothing on the TV so like idk what i did wrong i adjusted the video on the Powermac to 800 x 600 (or the smallest it would go) and i still get nothing except for a black screen?

I cant seem to get quicktime videos to work with firefox for example when on the apple site the videos dont work it just tells me to download quicktime 7 but I already have quicktime 7 and quicktime x (i am running snow leopard). When I go on to the apple website and try and watch videos on safari they load but I would rather use firefox as opposed to safari.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with iMovie '08 and YouTube. I recorded my iMac unboxing and even short clips using the iSight Camera, and tried to publish them to youtube. The videos say "Published to YouTube" beside them and all, but when I goto YouTube, the videos are not there. They don't even say "Awaiting Review" or whatever. They just aren't there. I'm entering correct account information and all. I'm annoyed, because one of the reasons I decided to get a mac was to engage in YouTube.

The resulting image is just white and gray squares where the video should be. If I try to do +Shift+3 instead of +Shift, everything shows up, except the area where the video is. Is this a function Apple removed from Snow Leopard? When I tried to take a screenshot of an unprotected video, it worked fine.

View 5 Replies View Relatedi'm having this minor but annoying problem with Firefox. every now any then when I move my mouse over the volume button while I'm watching a Youtube video in order to get the volume bar to pop up, nothing happens. if i click repeatedly on the button and go crazy it will pop up, but it will not let me slide the volume bar up and down. i don't remember having this problem with Safari. it's sort of like the browser isn't recognizing my mouse cursor hovering over the volume area in order for it to trigger the bar to pop up, if that makes any sense.

If I have a song playlist, and I tell it to play the first song, it then goes on immediately to play the second song. But with videos, they don't immediately play. I have a playlist full of short videos. Shuffle is on, as well as Repeat All. I'm not sure what button I need to press to make this playlist actually work. How do I do it?

Now it gives me a slide sorter and I have to click on each slide to move on in the presentation! To get around I used to just start typing the name of the folder starting with a space instead of scrolling through our long file list. Not the best system but we have thousands of folders with linked files and we are not going to change the names. Is there a way to turn off or disable quicklook so that I can use the space bar then type to find the folder?
