OS X Technologies :: Mail Doesn't Accept Yahoo Email Account
May 22, 2012
My problem: since Lion I'm really happy that I can use my Yahoo mail account in the official Mail app. It works also fine, but a fiew weeks ago suddenly mail stoped loading mails. I logd out in in the settings of Mail and reloged in but now I've the problem that Mail doesn't accept my datas...
I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro running OS Lion (10.7.3) and in the last two weeks I face the following problem with the Mail application and my Yahoo mail account: although the account appears in the side bar of the application and it will search for new messages when I launch the Mail app, it doesn't load any messages and I also realised that all Mailboxes of the named account are blank! The messages appear normally when I reach my account through the Yahoo page! I tried to remove and re-import the account in the Mail app, but it just worked for two days and now the Mailboxes are blank again! I have no problems with the other two mail accounts I reach through the same application (both POP accounts).
I am not receiving email messages in my Mail account on my Mac OSX. However, emails are being received on my ipad and my yahoo web site. Also, all emails from Apple are going through in my Mail account.
I am writing to report a software incompatibility between Mail and Gmail accounts with 2-step verification enabled.[URL]Gmail provides application specific passwords for these circumstances but those aren't working for me with Mail:[URL]Based on a review on online forums it seems many are having this problem.
I've had this email account with AT&T for a few years and it has worked with Mac Mail with no difficulty for a few years. Recently the account has been able to receive messages. Every time I hit Get Mail it asks for a password. I have installed all the latest updates through Software Update. I have a Mac Mini with OS Lion. After struggling for awhile, my inbox eventually comes in. I have reset all the incoming and outgoing POP Server accounts, as well as used the Web-mail version through [URL] and it all works fine.
I tried to sync my Yahoo e-mail contacts to my MBP and it didn't work. So i did my contacts manually. Getting Alert from Yahoo stating "you are about to sync the following info with Yahoo .contacts. What would you like to do? #1 option Merge data on this computer{MBP} & Yahoo!#2 option Replace data on this computer! I went in my MBP hard drive and deleted sync entries for Yahoo about 3-4 times-they just keep appearing after I get the "ALERT" notification every few hours.Check my Yahoo acct and there is no Alert listed. This I know is a big PAIN.SUGGESTIONS GREATLY APPRECIATED.
I've opened a secondary email account and Mail won't accept the password. I can send OK but not receive. But when I check with bigpond online the test emails are both sent and received but only sent through Mail - tried changing the password many times, quitting app, restart, and even delete that mail account and reenter - all to no avail
I have more than one email account set up on Mail and the strangest thing happens and I can't find out how to stop it.
Here is the problem:
- I have 2 accounts, 'Account A' is for my partner & 'Account B' is for me. - Someone sends an email to 'Account A' (my partner) and CCs 'Account B' (me) into the same eMail. - If I click reply from 'Account B' it sends the eMail from 'Account A' which is my partner, when it should be from me.
I have worked out that this is because 'Account A' was originally sent the eMail in The 'To' field as opposed to the 'CC' field in composing the reply eMail. I know that I can manually change the 'From' field every time when replying to an eMail but it becomes an nuisance. I forget to do it when quickly replying as I consider Mail to reply from the account that I'm reading the email from.
I have gone to the compose section in the preferences and there is an option for changing this when composing a new email but nothing when replying.
I just got a new MacBook Air and I went to set up my Mail just as I had on my old Mac Mini. I have a Yahoo account that I have paid for the Plus! features. I should be able to just have it automatically find the settings and then I should just be able to get email, right? Wrong. I thought maybe it was because I was also getting the mail popped onto my Blackberry but even when I turn it off, I still can't get a single Yahoo email. I've had this email address forever and don't want to change, and don't want to have to forward messages.
If there is a way to link my yahoo mail acc to my MAC OS mail, so that I can use the mail fuction. I use to be able to sync but after reformatting my com I am unable to do so. While trying to connect, an mes pop out said, you got to pay a fee to yahoo to get pop3 service.
I'm a little confused about how the 'Mail' app on my MBP works with my yahoo account. I thought I had set it up properly; emails appear in my 'Mail' inbox but I am unable to send anything - every time I try, the app requests me to enter my yahoo username and password. I do but it tells me they are incorrect. If the details are incorrect why do they work when I log in to yahoo with a browser? I read somewhere that you have to have a payed for yahoo account to get proper access to it's service. If this is the case it sure isn't obvious, unless I have just been looking in all the wrong places. I am also having trouble importing my yahoo contacts to the mac Address Book app.
I just received my Macbook Pro 2 days ago, I updated everything that needed to be updated. Now, I got a Yahoo! Mail Plus just so I can sync it onto mail, although I found out you can't sync folders which sucks, but whatever. My problems is the following: If I read my emails on my iphone, or even a regular pc using firefox or something, when I go into mail on my mac, all those messages still show as unread. And messages that I have deleted are appearing again.
I want to "sync" my yahoo account with the inbox in my Mail app. Basically, when I delete a message in Mail, I want it to automatically delete on the Yahoo server as well. I know I can do this manually by Right-clicking on Inbox -> Get Account Info -> Messages On Server, and then removing them manually, but is there anyway that this can be done automatically (say ... every time a message is removed or every time the Mail app is closed)?
Im trying to set up my apple mail with my yahoo account. I'm encountering problems conjuring yahoo mail w macfreepops. I downloaded and installed macfree pops... I put the incoming mail server 127.0.0.1 as directed and changed the port in the advance tab to 2000 as well. I've read all the bits on their website and read some blogs but still not working.
I cannot seem to get my apple mail to accept my gmail account or the password. Gmail works fine if I use the google site for my mail.I know if I am using the correct password because it works in gmail's site?
Since apparently you have to be an upgraded member on Yahoo mail to be able to sync OS-X' Mail app with it, what would be the best alternative that would allow a non-upgraded Yahoo mail user use it?
I used to get my Yahoo email through the mac mail ( much easier to read and no news ) but it vanished and now i have to go to yahoo to retrieve emails. How can i get my yahoo email through mac mail?. Oh,and i just upgraded to mavericks, maybe that has something to do with it ?
Info: iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2010), OS X Mavericks (10.9.4), just switched to mavericks
For some reason. All my contacts are getting sent spam with my name as the sender. But I am not sending any mail out. So somehow spam is being sent to my contacts threw my email.
I have a couple of issues with the macbook pro with yahoo. first of all I have a yahoo small business account. When i log into yahoo from the safari browser I can get into my regular mailbox on yahoo, but when i click to get into my small business domain it just goes back to the yahoo log in page. But I don't have any problem on a pc. Only from my macBook pro.
The next problem is what are the settings to send mail from the mail program on the macBook pro using snow leopard for yahoo small business. On my pda the incoming server is [URL] and the outgoing is [URL]
Everyone in my address book is receiving spam emails from my yahoo account and I am locked out. People are saying my Mac has a virus. But I know this cannot be true.
