May 20, 2012Why does Safari open with the last page viewed from the previous session rather than my homepage? The only way I can get Safari to open to my homepage when starting a new session is to be sure to close all windows from the previous session before quitting Safari. If I don't go through this process, Safari opens to the last site I accessed before quitting.

Jun 10, 2012Well this is a truly annoying "feature" in Lion. I just upgraded from Snow Leopard. Every time I open Safari, windows open from a previous session.
I've searched Safari's preferences and can't find anything to disable this. Even emptied cache. No luck. Same is true with certain other apps.
This is not good, for the obvious reasons. Is there any way to disable this? I know about logging in and out, seperate accounts, private browsing, but this is crazy as it requires MORE work not less. Whatever happened to keeping it simple?

Apr 18, 2012I recently updated to Lion. So far the only thing that really annoys me is that every time I open Safari it opens to the last page(s) I visited. I want it to open to a blank page. For the life of me - I cannot figure out how to get it to do this.

Apr 14, 2012Just recently I took my 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2010 Model) to my local Apple Store. When I brought it there they fixed my problem, but in the mean time they had to completely delete and uninstall Safari and Google Chrome off of my laptop. Before the apple store, my Safari would always open pop-ups and links in a new tab, now they open up in a new window. how to change it so they open in new tabs? The reason I need this changed is I might have unecessary websites open, and they would just be taking up space.

Mar 4, 2012Whenever I open Safari, it loads all tabs left open from the last session, not just the active one. It takes forever and I have to manually "x" each tab to get them to stop loading. I don't remember this being a problem pre-Lion.

Sep 13, 2009Firstly, my apologies as this is a topic that I've seen posted several times. Unfortunately, I haven't actually found an answer/workaround after searching a few different forums sites. I've been using Camino as my primary web browser and have generally enjoyed it. However, my one real frustration is that every PDF I open has to download and be displayed in Preview rather than native within the browser (skimming lots of journal articles on PubMed becomes very tedious this way). As such, I was very excited to switch back to Safari when I saw that it can open PDF files in tabs. And this bring me to the whole point of my post: How do I open a folder of bookmarks (e.g. from the bookmarks bar) in a new set of tabs without getting rid of all my existing tabs? Camino and Firefox both offer this option and I find it really essential to my way of browsing the web. I don't want to open a new window just to view an entire set of bookmarks (the point is to keep them all open in one window) and I don't want to manually open each page in a new tab.

Mar 21, 2009I have really tried to like the new Safari, but I can't seem to generate 'affection' for the tabs. One thing especially is irritating to me. Being over the address bar is bad enough, but when there's a bunch of tabs, finding a spot to 'grab' the window to move it is difficult.
Is there a way to move the tabs back below the address window like the older Safari? I hope this hasn't been asked and answered before. I didn't see it.

Feb 24, 2010I've had my macbook pro for about a month. Its everything you read about when you make the switch. Great build, screen, keyboard, stable, ease of use. Everything...except internet surfing. It's a big disappointment. I spend a lot of time waiting for pages to load..or getting the safari can't open message. (When I refresh this page I often will get the page to pop right up.)
I loaded a plug in recommended in the site "my first mac"...but no difference. I loaded firefox but get the same results. My 3 year old sempron dell inspiron and my wifes new Dell studio 17 both kick the macbook pro's butt in surfing so i don't believe its my home network. I have gone to the genius bar and they did some minor stuff but I have the same issues still.

Apr 1, 2010I am Having some issues with Safari (I am using 4.0.5), if I open up a website the screen stays white like it normally does for a sec to load a web page but the loading icon keeps spinning and spinning and spinning....... until I click the "X" stop icon and reload the web page. As soon as I click the reload icon the webpage loads up instantly, it is getting really annoying and would be great if anyone has a fix. This doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen frequently and then be fine for a few web pages and then start up again.

Jun 24, 2012Upon the start of Safari, it resumes the last session and immediately freezes, showing the spinning rainbow and failing to load pages. None of the toolbar options can be accessed. I can only force quit. Restarting the computed accomplishes nothing.

Jun 6, 2014I recently updated by 2013 27" iMac to OS X 10.9.3 and since then, I have a weird problem when I switch from one user to another: I often have several user sessions opened for several account, and when I switch from one to the other, or go to the login screen and open an already open session, I find the windows I had left open resized and/or moved. They're often moved to the upper left corner, and resized as if the screen was much smaller than it actually is. It worked without any problem in OS X 10.9.2…
