I have an iPad and just got my young lad an iPod touch and just wondering how iTunes is going to synch the iPod/iPhone apps to the iPhone and not to my iPad and vice versa?

My wife and I each have iPods and each have our own computers with our own iTunes libraries. We have a wireless router and want to play music from our computers to a hifi system. If I purchase an Airport Express, is it possible that my wife and I can both play music from our separate computers to the one Airport Express Base Station (obviously not at the same time)?

I have time machine backups on an external hard drive that has been connected via Firewire. I have another iMac (my son's)Imac 24 Intel Core 2 Duo that has it's own separate Time machine backup to it's own separate firewire connected external drive.Both machines are completely up to date with the latest version of Lion and all other necessary software updates.When the internal hardrive is replaced - I want to use my latest time machine backup to create one profile on the imac and then use my son's latest time machine back up for a second profile.The end goal being to have everything from my current set up ie: apps, documents, itunes, etc existing in one profile and everything in my son's current set up existing in the other profile.We can both be administrators for the time being as well.I should note even though we both have some of the same apps, we both also have other apps that the other does not.
My profile will be using about 900 gigs of total space.My son's profile will be using about 250 gigs of total space.This is temporary until the new iMac is released.Then I will want to transfer my profile to that leaving my son's intact on the iMac 27 I5.I realize that during the temporary period that Time Machine will be making backups of this entire two profile setup, which I am now understanding as I write this will create a new issue for me when I want to transfer only my profile to the new computer as well.But one bridge to cross at a time, I guess.I need to do this because we must bring his current computer to my father - as his iMac G5 is inoperable. We have been doing this round robin hand me down in our family since IMac DV special edition :-)

In importing my cd collection to itunes, I've noticed that sometimes it will separate a track or tracks into more than one copy of an album. Why is this and how can I make it stop? It's only happened a couple times but is still annoying. The other day it separated track 2 of a cd from the other tracks, so I had 2 copies of that disc in itunes. One with just track 2 and a second with all the other tracks. Today it separated each track of an entire cd, so I had 10 copies of the same disc, each with one song.

I recently bought an iMac. I have used my iTunes libary on a PC for years to sync my iPhone and iPad. I am now getting married and would like to know if I can import a seperate iTunes account to the same desktop computer. I would like to be able to sync her iPad and iPhone from her account (mail calander, music, photos and movies as well as her contacts.) and sync my iPhone and iPad from my account. Is this possible or do you get one iTunes acocunt per computer?

When you sync your iPhone you sometimes get the following message:Â
Itunes has found purchased items on the iphone thats arenot present in your itunes library.Â
There are two reasons for this:
1. I have deleted apps in iTunes that I don't want, but not on the iPhone. I don't want to transfer the apps back to iTunes because I want them gone.
2. I have bought apps on the iPhone that I do want to keep. I want these transferred to iTunes.Â
So if I have both types 1 and 2 then there is no good answer. Preferably iTunes should offer to sync and choose which apps to transfer and what not to transfer. Is there a way to change this behaviour? By the time I sync I don't know what I've done so I'm usually not sure how to answer the question. Sometimes I like to bulk delete apps in iTunes--it is easier than doing it on the iPhone.

So for one of my classes, I am going to be using a bunch of audio files, that I will eventually want to put on my iPhone to listen to. However, once they are on my iPhone, I would like to be able to still have them, just not in my library. My iTunes folder is in /Louis/Music/iTunes, but for some reason iTunes keeps creating a separate folder /Macintosh HD/Music and dumping a few songs by a few different artists there. I've tried 'consolidating' the library twice, deleting the songs from iTunes and re-adding them. I have the 'keep iTunes music folder organized' option as well as the 'copy files into iTunes folder' options checked. Nothing works. What is wrong? It makes absolutely no sense why it would create it's own random folder and dump the songs there.

What I want to do is copy this music and convert it to MP3 (or similar compressed format compatible with iPod) from the external drive, and put it into a separate library on my Mac's internal hard drive in the MP3 format. That way I'd still have my original music in AIFF on the external drive, and a copy of it in MP3 format on the internal drive for moving to my iPod or iPhone. Is this possible? Does it make sense? Also, is there a better (in terms of sound quality) compressed format than MP3 to use?
View 23 Replies View RelatedI have lots of stuff recorded in local studios with various vocal quartets as well as stuff done on my 4 track and eight track recorders, my problem is that when I try to download them into iTunes (all now on CD) it does not see them as individual recordings (even when the album title and song info is on the original disc as in studio recordings and some of my home recorded stuff). The result is that I record the first album without a problem and give it a title, then, when I download the second album it simply adds it to the first, so that the first track of the second album starts with the next number after the last track of the first ie the last track of the first album is say 14, the first track of the second is 15.
More to the point I cannot give the second album it's own name and the only way to access it is bring up the first album and select track 15. I am sure this is because they are not 'Professional' recording even though they were made in pro studios, the titles do not appear in any search lists. Load my non commercial CDs into iTunes in such way that I can access them as individual recordings and not just a giant list of everything that I have recorded in my lifetime. For the record I might add that I think the whole iTunes programme is counter intuitive and a complete pain in the nether regions to navigate, but I will put up with it since it is one of very few things that get me down about my Mac Pro.
I changed my mobile me password today because I didn't like it being the same as iTunes which I share with a few family members. In the past I had them the same but now wish them to have seperate passwords, is this possible? Today I changed my mobile me login password and it changed iTunes too.

hat I'm doing is a little crazy, but I'm doing it partly just for the fun of making it work. I'm trying to make my Intel so my PPC user can connect to my user via screen sharing and play an Intel based game online with me. I have the screen sharing working and everything, but apparently the LAN doesn't work because we have the same IP.
So, my question is: Is there a way to make my other user have a different IP than my main user? I'm thinking maybe some mac address emulator may work, but I thought I'd see if anyone here knew an easier way before I got too complicated.

I had been sync'd with an old PC laptop previously. If I choose to sync my iPhone (4S) with iTunes on the MacBook, will it delete my apps and data (as the warning in iTunes leads me to believe)? I do use iCloud backup on the iPhone, and I've got all kinds of apps installed (and arranged to my liking). What's the best way to have my music sync with the MacBook without having to reinstall my apps?Â

I was looking to access the file sharing functionality of one of my apps (AV Player HD) in iTunes 12 and wasn't able to find out where or how to do this in the new version.Â
After a bit of searching on the internet I gathered I needed to select my device (iPad in this case) from the devices drop down, then on the left hand sidebar under the menu heading 'On My Device' I should see "Apps" listed there along with Music and Movies etc. I have:

and then some music playlists..That's it. So my questions are:
1. where is 'Apps'?

Downloading songs from cd's. One will go in as one album, shows a single artwork for the set.   Volume 2 loads like separate songs with the same album name AND with the sequence number, i.e., No. 4 of 15, On my iPad it appears as 15 albums with 1 song on them. Volume 1 appears as one album with 15 songs on it. Looks messy on the iPad. . .I have 16 albums with the same name. How to get albums together??
