Hardware :: Finding List Of Speakers That You Can Connect An Airport Express

Aug 2, 2010

I have been trying to do some research on a pair of speakers that I can use around the house. Right now, I just have my iMac speakers and some headphones.

Optimally I would like to have a pair of speakers set in the living room that I can automatically wirelessly stream my iTunes music to.

Right now the only ones that I have seen (via this forum and on the web) that I can directly connect an Airport Express to are the AudioEngine A5. I believe with these you literally plug the airport express to the back of them, if I understand them correctly.

Is there a list somewhere of speakers that are Airport Express enabled or can others provide alternatives to the AudioEngine A5?

Hardware :: Using An Airport Express To Wirelessly Connect Speakers To The Network

Nov 4, 2009

I have an extra wireless router, the original airport express, and I'd like to use it by putting it in another room and connecting speakers to it. I did this before, with the airport express connected to the network over its ethernet port, and that worked great. How do you do it wirelessly? It's basically putting it on the network in reverse - instead of clients connecting to it over wireless, it's a client connecting to the network wirelessly. How do you do that?

Hardware :: Airport Express - Speakers Stopped Appearing In ITunes / Resolve This?

Feb 11, 2008

The drop-down menu for my speakers has stopped appearing in my iTunes.

I rebooted the Airport Express and checked the settings. According to the Airport Admin utility it's online.

Not sure what's wrong here. I have two mac's and the speakers aren't showing up on either.

For the record I have been using my Airport Express without any problems for about five months.

ITunes :: Unable To Connect To External Speakers Through AirPort Express (Lion)

After upgrading to Lion on my Macbook Air, I can't seem to be able to connect to my external speakers through airport express. Hardware :: Finding And Configuring Airport Express?

May 8, 2010

I try to accomplish to use Airport Express, connected to my stereo, to use to play the songs from my iTunes collection from a PC (Windows Vista).

I have a Belkin N Wireless router which I use for a HP laptop which works fine.

My Airport Base Station Agent does not detect any AirPort Express, wirelessly.

When I connect with a wire from the Router to AIE it is detected, so I think that AIE itself works.

But whatever I do, it does not seem to want to find the AIE without wire.

Hardware :: Finding AirPort Express Power Extension Cord

I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to purchase an "AirPort Express power extension cord" separately.

It comes with the AE Stereo Connection Kit, but I don't need the monster cables and it seems a bit pricey.

I've looked on Amazon and the like and can't seem to find it.

OS X :: Won't Work With Airport Express Frequency

Apr 18, 2009

I've been using airport express for a year, but lately the airport utility ceased recognising my airport express. No matter what I did, nothing changed.I took it to my friends house, to try it on his mac, and the utility found it and the strangest thing was that my macbook (at my friends house) also found the airport express in the airport utility menu. But when I took it back to my place same thing happened, the utility could not find the wireless device. What could be the causing this? I mean, it worked at my place before and now it doesn't, but it works at my friends house. Could there be something that interferes with the apple airport express frequency?

Hardware :: Can Airport Express Work With Time Machine

Aug 9, 2008

"On 19 March, 2008, Apple released an update for the Time Machine software in the "Leopard" operating system. This update makes it possible to use Time Machine with ANY "AirDisk" (a drive plugged into an Apple Airport Express or Extreme router.) This effectively creates a Time Capsule without the complexity of the actual product, just by connecting a drive. The best part is that the initial backup can be made via USB or FireWire are speeds which blow away even Ethernet-wired speed of the TIme Capsule. Subsequent backups can be made via wireless at about 8X the speed at which TC works. "

Hardware :: AirPort Express Can Work As Wireless Extender

Aug 21, 2009

So I just bought a new revision Airport Express, so from reading I've learned that the AE can act as a bridge/wireless extender for my AEBS (dual-band), my question is, can it only do either N-5ghz or G2.4ghz, and not both at the same time? Also can anyone give me some ideas on Real Life range I should expect to get with it? If I can in fact only do one band, I'll be doing the G band as N pretty much covers everywhere but G isn't so good at penetrating the walls it seems.

Hardware :: Airport Express Work With IPhone+iPad+notebook?

Mar 18, 2010

I'm seriously considering buying the iPad wifi. Without a LAN port, I was wondering how I would be able to connect the iPad to the internet when I'm travelling. Then I read up about portable routers and lo and behold, the Apple Airport Express was mentioned. So, would this set up work in a hotel?

1. I plug the Airport Express to the hotel high-speed internet via LAN cable
2. I connect my work notebook (much loathed Lenovo Thinkpad running WindowsXP Pro) using wifi to the internet via the Airport Express
3. I connect my iPhone to the internet via the Airport Express (using wifi of course)
4. I connect my iPad to the internet via the Airport Express (using wifi)

If the above will work, is setting up Airport Express to the hotel high-speed internet via LAN cable an easy or hard exercise?

Hardware :: Finding Decent Negative Scanner?

Jan 28, 2009

Can someone recommend me a decent negative scanner? I want to digitise all my old photo negatives in a format good enough to keep in iPhoto and upload to Flickr. I'm not interested in ultra professional resolution, but something in the region of 5MP would be good enough.

I've read that Veho are going to be updating their scanner hardware to work with the Mac, but I've heard some stories about the quality being awful. I wish someone would actually upload some of the results so we could decide for ourselves, but it has put me off.

I don't want to spend a fortune, but I am willing to spend a decent amount of money (low hundreds of , NOT thousands!!) to get what I want.

Applications :: Finding A Decent Website Program That Is Simple?

Sep 14, 2009

I know there is dream weaver out there but I am not that well versed in using yet. I need something that is like Iweb 09 but will work better. It appears that when you create something in Iweb 09 and let's say it's [URL] it will make the home page this: [URL]

It seems like iweb adds on the extra extentension on the end. I also notice that Iweb when you save the program to a server the site takes forever to load and I think it has something to do with the size of the file or site. not sure.

What I like about Iweb is the drag and drop feature with text box and so on. Is there a program out there where I am not paying a monthly service charge to use a program that is loaded on a server? I understand I have hosting fees by the way.

So any programs out there that are mac friendly and has a user friendly interface?
