Setting up the bluetooth so that I can use my mobile phone to access the internet on my mac. I have an LG phone but there isn't an LG option in the dropdown bar, does LG perhaps have another name that's in the list. Also what do I put in the username, password and phone number sections? I have tried to do it but it has failed.
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to setup my MacBook to allow internet connections to devices via Bluetooth PAN. In other words, getting a Palm Centro/Motorola Q9h to access the internet via the mac's internet connection over Bluetooth PAN.
I've enabled Internet sharing correctly, checked all the relevant boxes.
When the device connects to the Macbook, the Bluetooth PAN connection shows 'active', but it seems that the Macbook is not assigning an IP address, nor routing the packets.
Has anyone had any success with this?
I have a Bluetooth DUN connection setup with my Verizon cell phone (EnV Touch). It works great most of the time. It will randomly lose connection (data will stop transmitting), but it will not disconnect or tell me it stopped working. It looks like it is working fine on the top right menu bar, but data will not send back and forth.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently got a new time capsule but I have difficulties setting up the internet connection. The time capsule is connected to our WAN using a cable in my office. The computers in our organization are authenticated using their MAC address. So, I have to add the MAC address of the time capsule to make it connected to the internet. I want to connect the TC to our WAN using a cable, then I want to connect my MacBook using a wireless connection to the TC.
When I config the TC using the NAT mode (Share a public IP address), I can use the internet but I get a double NAT error and TC's LED is yellow. When I config the TC using the Bridge Mode, the led goes green. Anyway, if I connect my MacBook using wireless I cannot reach the internet. I get no error in this case so I don't know what is happening inside the TC. Interestingly, if I connect the MacBook to the TC using an ethernet cable, it works perfectly! I have added all the MAC addresses of the wired and wireless interfaces to the list of my computers.
Going off to school and in my room I have 2 ethernet ports, but no WiFi signals. School will not allow you to hook up a wireless router they only allow wired routers if you need to hook up more than one thing to the ethernet jack. Here's my question, Is there something that I can hook up to the ethernet port to send the internet signal over bluetooth so my MBP can connect without having to be plugged in the whole time?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a MacPro Early 2009, 2 ethernet ports.Ethernet 1 is connected to the LAN and Ethernet 2 is connected directly to a SSL Matrix console (an audio mixer), whom driver needs the used ethernet port to be first of the list in the Network connections list in System Preferences.So when I browse internet I can't use the Matrix's software, and vice versa.I had to create 2 different network positions to browse internet and to work with SSL Matrix, one with Eth 1 first place, another one with Eth 2 first place, and I always have to swap positions.Is there a way to force OSX to use by default the 2nd connection of the list for internet access?

I'm on holiday using my mobile phone (Nokia N80) to connect to the Internet over GPRS / EDGE / UMTS. Everything works like a charm, but often the Internet Connect applet drops the connection and just hangs disconnecting.
I'm running OS X 10.4.7 on a 17" Macbook pro, but I have the same result on a iBook G4, same OS X version, and even trying with a different mobile phone (Nokia 6600) and different network service provider.
I have a 2009 MP and I hate the unreliability of bluetooth in OS X. I constantly get drops of my BT keyboard and/or mouse. The funny thing is they work well in the Windows 7 Boot Camp. 2 there may be 2 culprits: 1) Logitech MX 5500, which is not officially supported on Macs 2) Steermouse. What have other people's experience been?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Skype a lot, with a Sony Ericson HBH-602 bluetooth headset on my powerbook G4 1.25GHz with built in bluetooth and airport. I also use an isight. Anyways, sometimes the Skype connection dies and the call terminates. About 60% of the time, the bluetooth icon in OSX doesn't 'free up' and it still thinks there's a connection to the bluetooth headset. The BT icon still has the dotted line through it as if there's a connection even after the call has terminated. This might be a Skype bug, but it means I can't use the bluetooth headset again and continue the call again until I restart OS X. Is there any way of doing this without restarting the computer? Sometimes i can talk for 3 hours with no problems, sometimes the call drops after 5 mins, and messes up the bluetooth connection.

Here's the deal:
My main desktop computer (Compaq windows XP computer) is set-up upstairs where the cable router and linksys wireless router are placed (which is right next to the desktop on the desk). My Macbook (running Tiger and is 3 years old) and iMac (running Leopard and is not even 1 year old yet) are set-up downstairs in my new office. This room is in the basement, however the room is almost directly above the main office where the wired desktop computer resides.
Prior to setting up my office downstairs, my sister lived with my family in the basement and had her windows Vista laptop set-up without any internet connection issues. Her internet never dropped on her laptop, and neither did the connection on her wireless all-in-one printer/scanner/copier. Cell phone reception/internet connection in the basement is also great.
When I set up my iMac and Macbook however a few weeks ago, the internet keeps dropping connection! I do not understand this when my sister had no problems at all with her laptop getting internet connection, when she was living with us. The internet connection will stay good for either 10-30 minutes and then drop, or it could be good for up to an hour and then drop.
Now that I have my G4 connected to my Vizio 20" LCD tv via VGA cable, can anyone tell me how I can properly set the resolution for a 16x9 screen. Currently, the screen has the appearance of a 4x3 aspect ratio stretched to fill screen.
I've tried each of the resolution settings in the G4 with no luck. The tv does not have an option to correct.
Also, would I see better results -- or have more options -- if I purchased a vga - hdmi converter box?
I have two iMac's (an old G5 and a newer Intel iMac -- about a year old). On both I have been using Apple's bluetooth keyboards and mouses with no problems. Recently (maybe when I updated to 10.5.8), the mouse behavior has been problematic on both machines. On the Intel iMac, the mouse and computer will lose the connection several times a day. I'll command-tab from application to application and then after a while connectivity returns -- until the next time. The behavior on the G5 iMac has been much more problematic. On that machine, the mouse only occasionally works.
View 15 Replies View RelatedSince I upgraded to OSX 10.6.4, my wireless Apple keyboard is losing it's connection when the computer goes to sleep. I never had that issue before the upgrade. It will also on occasion lose it's connection while I'm actively using it. Is this a known issue that will eventually be addressed by Apple, or is there something else going on?
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently, I've been having an issue where neither my Apple bluetooth Keyboard or Magic Trackpad pair automatically with the iMac at my password login screen. This forces me to hold down the power button and force a restart of the machine. Both accessories have plenty of battery power and pair fine after restarting. In a related problem, sometimes neither accessory will wake the iMac from sleep and I suspect it's because the bluetooth is dropping connection while asleep, thus making it impossible to wake up the iMac. Corrupt bluetooth .plist file? Or, could there be a problem with the iMac's built in bluetooth?

I just got a new one because my old one stopped responding to the left button. Now it seems like every time I use the mba (also super cool) I have some kind of problem. Also the mba has frozen a number of times which never (or extremely rarely) happened with my MBPro and G4. I'm wondering if they've introduce a glitch into bluetooth.

Past week, the bluetooth is acting weird. When waking from sleep mode, sometimes they connect, most of the time, they won�t. I click on the bluetooth logo to manually connect, but the bluetooth option pop up 30 seconds later, not instantly.
I had to restart my Air to re-establish the connection. Anyone else encounter similar issue?
I have a new Macbook Pro with the bluetooth keyboard and mighty mouse. They both seem to loose there connection once in a while, most of the time they reconnect on their own after a few moments but sometimes I have to do it myself. There not that far away from the mac so I am not too sure what the problem might be.

After the mouse switching of and on, it takes a few minutes to build up the connection again.
I try to use my new Mac Mini has a HTPC. However, when in the middle of watching video, say 20 minutes in a show or something, the warning keeps coming up on screen "lost connection," with the keyboard. Anyway around this? Doesn't seem like you should have to use a wired keyboard, for a computer that so many use in the living room?

The iPhone is recognized but I can not get a connection. It says Bluetooth connection is not available. When I look at the network prefs, The "Bluetooth PAN" says not connected and will not connect. They are on the same router and my Bluetooth mouse works fine. I simply can not get them to pair. Advanced for Bluetooth PAN has to configure using DCHP for IPv4 and Automatically for IPv6. Nothing else is on that sheet. This is a late 2012 iMac. New iPhone 5 (warranty replacement). Phone shows it's on my network. Checked computer and it's on my network.

I've done this many times in the past.
The phone and the mac connected ok via bluetooth, and I inputted the code that comes up on the screen. After which the the connection 'failed'.
I then tried another mobile phone, and the connection failed on that too. The thing is I've used both phones before to transfer files to the Mac Pro.
Im thinking of setting up a AirPort Express or Extreme, unsure which i gonna buy, anyway, i thought id come here and post before going to shops and getting it (due to there isnt a apple shop within 4 hours drive )
I have my internet running through a USB wireless thingy (Sorry)
and i was wondering how/ if i could set it up running through that.
