MacBook Pro :: Sending Internet Signals Over Bluetooth Connection?

Aug 17, 2009

Going off to school and in my room I have 2 ethernet ports, but no WiFi signals. School will not allow you to hook up a wireless router they only allow wired routers if you need to hook up more than one thing to the ethernet jack. Here's my question, Is there something that I can hook up to the ethernet port to send the internet signal over bluetooth so my MBP can connect without having to be plugged in the whole time?

MacBook :: No Internet Connection - AirPort Icon Indicates Full Signals

Feb 9, 2009

I have a Macbook purchased in July 2008. In the last month or so, it has been erratic when connecting to the internet. The Airport Icon at the top of the screen shows a complete and full connection. However, when I attempt to connect to the internet with either Safari or Firefox, it won't necessarily connect. Sometimes it does connect, other times it fails to connect. Either way, the airport icon indicates full signal strength.

OS X :: Internet Connection Sharing Via Bluetooth PAN?

Nov 7, 2008

I'm trying to setup my MacBook to allow internet connections to devices via Bluetooth PAN. In other words, getting a Palm Centro/Motorola Q9h to access the internet via the mac's internet connection over Bluetooth PAN.

I've enabled Internet sharing correctly, checked all the relevant boxes.

When the device connects to the Macbook, the Bluetooth PAN connection shows 'active', but it seems that the Macbook is not assigning an IP address, nor routing the packets.

Has anyone had any success with this?

I have tried to do it but it has failed.

It looks like it is working fine on the top right menu bar, but data will not send back and forth.

MacBook Pro :: Won't Connect To Internet - WiFi Status Bar Show Full Strength Signals

Sep 5, 2014

I have the 13" Macbook Pro mid 2012 model and for some reason the wifi status bar would show full strength however when I open up Chrome or Safari the webpages won't load at all. I'll get a message saying something like "can't connect to Internet." I first thought it was my modem but all the lights are lit up and it shows I do have an Internet connection. I get the same problem with my ipod touch 4g as well. Only on the ipod's side it will try and connect but fails to do so at all. So I have two devices that fail to connect despite an existing Internet connection.

OS X :: WiFi Connection - Slow Browsing With Full Bars Signals

May 26, 2009

I'm back at my dad's place for the summer and I'm trying to connect to his house's wireless connection on my MacBook. It seems to connect okay when I type in our 10-digit password next to "WEP 40/128-bit hex" in the drop-down menu, but then even with full signal bars, it loads browser pages very slowly if ever, usually just giving me a timeout error and it's the same thing across all programs, my instant messenger takes forever to connect, WoW takes forever to connect, if ever, basically the internet I get from this connection is useless. It's odd because both my sisters have MacBooks and the internet works fine for them at my dad's house when they connect, and MY internet on my computer works perfectly when I'm using any WiFi but this one. By the way, the transmitter is a "D-Link 514 2.4GHz Wireless Router" and we're connected to cable internet.

* I have tried resetting the router and that didn't help.
* I have tried changing the channel, authentication method and password and that didn't help.
* I tried a DNS troubleshooting guide and it doesn't appear to be a problem with that.

OS X :: Network Keeps Dropping Internet Signals / Happens Randomly In No Sequence

Apr 9, 2009

My problem is I keep loosing 'Internet' signal on my network, the network still runs fine and all computers (macbook, imac and macbook pro) are still connected to the network and can still transfer files but there is no internet connection. Im not 100% sure but this seems to happen once more than one computer is on the network at once. It happens randomly and their seems to be no real sequence or pattern as to when it happens.

I was adviced to change the ports on my router from 11 to say 6 or others, this didnt seem to help, and i have since thought as my imac is hard wired with an ethernet cable this wouldn't effect this computer as it is not connected over wireless but this computer IS still affected.

I have tried numerous hard resets and fimrware updates etc but no joy, the router i'm using is a Belkin URL

MacBook Pro :: Computer Keeps Restarting / Sending Error Reports When On The Internet

Aug 24, 2014

My macbook pro has been acting weird for a week or so. I'll be on the internet and then it will randomly shut down safari or google chrome and send an error report message. This also just started happening with my iPhoto and iTunes as well. Sometimes my computer will just shut off completely and restart with a message saying there was a problem and it had to shut down. It seems like there is some bug or maybe a third party add on I need to get off?

MacBook Air :: Bluetooth Mouse Keeps Loosing Connection

Nov 8, 2008

Using a bt500 bluetake bluetooth mouse I keep losing the connection, and not being able to connect at all. The bt500 is super cool. I just got a new one because my old one stopped responding to the left button. Now it seems like every time I use the mba (also super cool) I have some kind of problem. Also the mba has frozen a number of times which never (or extremely rarely) happened with my MBPro and G4. I'm wondering if they've introduce a glitch into bluetooth.

OS X :: Internet Go Slow When Uploading Something Or Sending An E-mail?

Oct 28, 2009

Alright, I'm wondering what makes my internet go slow when my dad is uploading something or sending an e-mail.According to I have a download speed of 2.1MB/s and upload of 0.03MB/s (megabytes not megabits).I just did a test while dad was uploading and got very similar results if not the same, except it said my ping was 4302 ms, compared to 26 ms I got from re-running the test after the upload was finished. I'm pretty sure the server was the same, I think I would have noticed if it wasn't.Does anyone know why it goes slow, I don't really understand it, although I imagine it has something to do with the high ping but I don't understand why or how it effects it.

OS X :: Possible To Reset Bluetooth Connection Without Restart?

Apr 19, 2007

I use Skype a lot, with a Sony Ericson HBH-602 bluetooth headset on my powerbook G4 1.25GHz with built in bluetooth and airport. I also use an isight. Anyways, sometimes the Skype connection dies and the call terminates. About 60% of the time, the bluetooth icon in OSX doesn't 'free up' and it still thinks there's a connection to the bluetooth headset. The BT icon still has the dotted line through it as if there's a connection even after the call has terminated. This might be a Skype bug, but it means I can't use the bluetooth headset again and continue the call again until I restart OS X. Is there any way of doing this without restarting the computer? Sometimes i can talk for 3 hours with no problems, sometimes the call drops after 5 mins, and messes up the bluetooth connection.

OS X :: Internet Connection Keeps Dropping Connection?

Aug 12, 2009

I know there are a lot of similar threads all around different forums, but nothing really helped and I was hoping some of you smart ladies/guys can help solve this issue once and for all.

Here's the deal:

My main desktop computer (Compaq windows XP computer) is set-up upstairs where the cable router and linksys wireless router are placed (which is right next to the desktop on the desk). My Macbook (running Tiger and is 3 years old) and iMac (running Leopard and is not even 1 year old yet) are set-up downstairs in my new office. This room is in the basement, however the room is almost directly above the main office where the wired desktop computer resides.

Prior to setting up my office downstairs, my sister lived with my family in the basement and had her windows Vista laptop set-up without any internet connection issues. Her internet never dropped on her laptop, and neither did the connection on her wireless all-in-one printer/scanner/copier. Cell phone reception/internet connection in the basement is also great.

When I set up my iMac and Macbook however a few weeks ago, the internet keeps dropping connection! I do not understand this when my sister had no problems at all with her laptop getting internet connection, when she was living with us. The internet connection will stay good for either 10-30 minutes and then drop, or it could be good for up to an hour and then drop.

MacBook Pro :: Internet Drop Connection - How To Fix It

At my home, I have a 2WIRE portal modem and it drops at least 10-12 times a day and the only way I can reconnect is if I turn Airport Off and On. Same situation at my dorm , only thing is that I connect via wirelessly. Anyone have a solution to make this annoying dropping go away? My roommate has a Windows Vista Laptop (Gateway) and He has perfect connection and can play WoW and COD4 without lag or disconnection. My Windows XP Desktop (eMachine) and My Windows Vista PC (Dell Inspirion) are running on the same portal at home and they both are connected perfectly.

OS X :: Internet Connection Frustrating MacBook?

Apr 13, 2010

My wireless internet connection is "shotty". The desktop that it is connected to works fine, however, for the last few days my MacBook has been having trouble. The connection will just hang. I can click on the "wireless icon" in the upper right, click "Open Network Preferences" and then click "Assist Me" then "Diagnostics..." and run that. It will pick it back up and say it is connected. It will work for a good 10 minutes, then I have to repeat the process. I have restarted my MacBook as well as restarted the "box". Any ideas? My TV runs via the internet (U-Verse) and it never hangs or freezes when my MacBook does, also the desktop was working fine at the same time as the TV was working fine but my MacBook was hanging. Also my old Compaq hangs as well. I think the TV is wireless too? The box is in a different room, but like I said it never freezes.
