Is there a way to turn off the little bluetooth message box that pops up for a second or two on the screen when a bluetooth device is connected or connection is lost?

I have a problem with my 17'' MBP unibody:
1) Bluetooth is ON:
I can't turn it off. The checkbox is inactive.
But I can turn it off, if I choose "Share my internet connection for other units". (I don't know, if this is the right text in english, because my OSX is in german)
2) Now Bluetooth is OFF:
But I can't turn it on, because the checkbox "ON" is inactive.
It turns only on, if I choose "New Unit"(?). Then there is a new window, that says, that this is only possible if Bluetooth turns on. If I say OK, bluetooth turns ON.

What's the problem. Why is this f* checkbox for turning bluetooth on and off inactive?
This is not a hardware problem, because I can have stable bluetooth connections.
I did a smc and am pram reset. But it doesn't help.
I appear to be unable to turn off my bluetooth. The option has totally disappeared. Have not a clue why. I'm running 10.6.4 on a Late 2008 Macbook.

It would randomly go out and the icon at the menu bar would say "Bluetooth: Not Available" and I won't have the option to turn it off or on. The funny thing is they work well in the Windows 7 Boot Camp. 2 there may be 2 culprits: 1) Logitech MX 5500, which is not officially supported on Macs 2) Steermouse. What have other people's experience been?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Skype a lot, with a Sony Ericson HBH-602 bluetooth headset on my powerbook G4 1.25GHz with built in bluetooth and airport. I also use an isight. Anyways, sometimes the Skype connection dies and the call terminates. About 60% of the time, the bluetooth icon in OSX doesn't 'free up' and it still thinks there's a connection to the bluetooth headset. The BT icon still has the dotted line through it as if there's a connection even after the call has terminated. This might be a Skype bug, but it means I can't use the bluetooth headset again and continue the call again until I restart OS X. Is there any way of doing this without restarting the computer? Sometimes i can talk for 3 hours with no problems, sometimes the call drops after 5 mins, and messes up the bluetooth connection.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to setup my MacBook to allow internet connections to devices via Bluetooth PAN. In other words, getting a Palm Centro/Motorola Q9h to access the internet via the mac's internet connection over Bluetooth PAN.
I've enabled Internet sharing correctly, checked all the relevant boxes.
When the device connects to the Macbook, the Bluetooth PAN connection shows 'active', but it seems that the Macbook is not assigning an IP address, nor routing the packets.
Has anyone had any success with this?
Setting up the bluetooth so that I can use my mobile phone to access the internet on my mac. I have an LG phone but there isn't an LG option in the dropdown bar, does LG perhaps have another name that's in the list. Also what do I put in the username, password and phone number sections? I have tried to do it but it has failed.

It will randomly lose connection (data will stop transmitting), but it will not disconnect or tell me it stopped working. It looks like it is working fine on the top right menu bar, but data will not send back and forth.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have two iMac's (an old G5 and a newer Intel iMac -- about a year old). On both I have been using Apple's bluetooth keyboards and mouses with no problems. Recently (maybe when I updated to 10.5.8), the mouse behavior has been problematic on both machines. On the Intel iMac, the mouse and computer will lose the connection several times a day. I'll command-tab from application to application and then after a while connectivity returns -- until the next time. The behavior on the G5 iMac has been much more problematic. On that machine, the mouse only occasionally works.

It will also on occasion lose it's connection while I'm actively using it. Is this a known issue that will eventually be addressed by Apple, or is there something else going on?
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently, I've been having an issue where neither my Apple bluetooth Keyboard or Magic Trackpad pair automatically with the iMac at my password login screen. This forces me to hold down the power button and force a restart of the machine. Both accessories have plenty of battery power and pair fine after restarting. In a related problem, sometimes neither accessory will wake the iMac from sleep and I suspect it's because the bluetooth is dropping connection while asleep, thus making it impossible to wake up the iMac. Corrupt bluetooth .plist file? Or, could there be a problem with the iMac's built in bluetooth?

I just got a new one because my old one stopped responding to the left button. Now it seems like every time I use the mba (also super cool) I have some kind of problem. Past week, the bluetooth is acting weird. When waking from sleep mode, sometimes they connect, most of the time, they won�t. I click on the bluetooth logo to manually connect, but the bluetooth option pop up 30 seconds later, not instantly.

I have a new Macbook Pro with the bluetooth keyboard and mighty mouse. They both seem to loose there connection once in a while, most of the time they reconnect on their own after a few moments but sometimes I have to do it myself. Also, there is a major difference in battery life between Windows and OS X. In OS X I get about 4 - 5 Hours. Whereas when I'm in XP I get about 2 - 3 Hours. Is this normal?

The iPhone is recognized but I can not get a connection. It says Bluetooth connection is not available. When I look at the network prefs, The "Bluetooth PAN" says not connected and will not connect. They are on the same router and my Bluetooth mouse works fine. I simply can not get them to pair. Advanced for Bluetooth PAN has to configure using DCHP for IPv4 and Automatically for IPv6. Nothing else is on that sheet. This is a late 2012 iMac. New iPhone 5 (warranty replacement). Phone shows it's on my network. Checked computer and it's on my network.

I've done this many times in the past.
The phone and the mac connected ok via bluetooth, and I inputted the code that comes up on the screen. After which the the connection 'failed'.
I then tried another mobile phone, and the connection failed on that too. The thing is I've used both phones before to transfer files to the Mac Pro.
