I wasn't really doing anything I had just opened up iTunes and then the screen on my MacBook went black for maybe a second and then it came back I'm not sure if it's a problem or not should I get it checked out? Nothing happened but I just wanna make sure, I've had my Macbook maybe a little over 2 months now and haven't had any problems with it yet.

I came back from work to wake up my iMac. It made the noise but the screen stayed black. I tried restarting by holding the power button- I can hear it start and the chime but still have a black screen. I tried resetting the pram, and unplugging the cord but I still get a black screen. I can hear the chime though; I'm not sure if that means anything. I just had the hard drive replaced in February so I hope it's not that. just wanted to clarify that when I restart, I get the chime but the screen stays black- I don't get to the grey screen. So I'm assuming right now that my display may be shot?

I am looking at purchasing an Ibook G4 but the description of the item includes this:"When you switch it on it begins to load up i.e. the blue screen with the Apple logo, but then the screen goes black or flickers. Said friend has kindly wiped the hard drive for me so now when you switch it on it makes the �opening� noise then you get a blue screen with alternating �?� and the Finder logo."
I have a feeling this may have been a temporary fault with the screen connector being loose and possibly damaged.But i assume the alternating "?" and the "finder logo" is simply a lack of OS?
I was trying to install Windows XP Pro, but for some reason the it wasn't showing another HDD to install Windows on. So I quit the install, and restarted my computer. Now all that happens is the normal grey screen appears (with no Apple logo), then it goes to a black screen and has the blinking cursor (Kinda like DOS).
View 14 Replies View RelatedSo I have a DYNEX 21 inch HD TV conected up to my MBP via the VGA connection route. My problem is that when I want a program (or more specifically in this case a game) to go into fullscreen mode it automatically goes to my primary monitor and turns the other screen black. I know I can switch the primary monitor from my actual laptop screen to the TV however I just want the game to be full screen on the TV while still having access to my dock and everything on my laptop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my screen - when there is something black on, I can see a faint mark of a lighter colour. I have tried to take a picture, please excuse the poor quality. There is nothing visible when the screen is off, even under close examination. Is it less visible when lighter things are on the screen, and invisible when the screen is white.
No drops or liquid spills. Will this go away on it's own? Any fixes?
My iBook will not display anything on its screen. Rather, it just remains black. One time, the screen did come on, but then shortly after booting, it flickered a lot and then went black again. A year ago, something similiar happened and when I took it to be serviced (when I had AppleCare), they had to send it away and have a new logic board installed. Now this machine is out of warrenty and and I am not sure what to do, or even if it is the same problem. Any suggestions?? Thanks!
View 1 Replies View RelatedAs the headline says the right half of the screen turns black when watching video content in iTunes on full screen. I can see the whole picture when moving the mouse a little but as soon as the navigation bar disappears the right half of the picture disappears too. It does not matter what source it is. Both podcasts and movies work (or do not work) the same.
The problem doesn't occur for other player (VLC, XBMC etc.).
I have the latest OS (10.9.4) and iTunes (11.4). The computer is MBP 13-inch retina, late 2012 if it matters.

I've had my mac for about three years now and everything was working fine. After I installed lion, I notice that this started to happen. I don't lose any of my information though when it does that. It just goes into a sleep mode I guess? Anyways, is this a feature from the lion update? Something standard?

New to Mac computers. When trying to open computer after being in sleep mode, I clicked the mouse to open the password screen, & a blank blue/black screen appeared & the mouse timer( colored circle) appeared, as if to be waiting. I had to unplug the computer to reboot it. This has happened twice in 2 days.

When my MacBook Pro 13" i5 goes into screen saver mode, which is black, it won't return to normal mode. Tried all keys, trac pad, closing the lip and re-opening it, and it won't respond. The only thing that works is holding down power button for hard shutdown, then restarting it. It has happened 8 times in the last 2 weeks.

View 11 Replies View RelatedMy computer won't start. If I'm holding in the power button, you hear the HD starting the boot. The instant I let go of the button the computer turns off. The longer I hold the button, the longer it attempts this process, until I get to the point where holding the power button would manually shut the computer down. Happens computer plugged in or on battery. Screen never changes from black screen.

My Macbook is brand new! (Barely 4 months old) Just recently my laptop will flash a black screen. It starts from the bottom and quickly flashes up the screen higher and higher each flash! i have read on some other pages it is a bad inverter on the inner core of the Macbook. When the computer is turned on, the screen stays black, although the backlight is on (the apple glows). Sometimes, on start up, the screen works normally for a random amount of time before going fuzzy and then black again.
Any ideas on how to fix this? Is it likely to be a problem with the hardware in the actual computer, or just the screen? Or is it a software thing?
I have a G5 power mac and recently the screen will randomly go blank and I will have to sleep my computer and wake it up in order to get the screen back. when the screen goes black the programs that i am running, still run, but I can't wake my screen up. I don't know what the deal is.

Got me a Second Hand iMac g5 with OSX 10.6 on Screen is black. I changed Power Cable = no Result seen i opened and a thinny Cable from hard drive were not connected. I had to remove the Ram to do that,but no Result i opened again and found another thinny Cable from Broadband Socked comming out. I connected it but nothing happening i opened again with all Leads removed. I removed the Battery inside,pushed after 2 Hour such small Button inside,put Battery in Place,switched on and nothing happened. i pressed the power-Button twice,and on second Time the Screen went White and Fan blow as Hell,but stuck on that. I switched off and on and it was Black again. I disconnected the Lead and switched on after 5 Hour and nothing happens I removed Battery again,pushed after 2 Hour thinny black button inside and nothing when started With nothing happened i always mean "The screen is black",but the Start sound is and i hear a little Fan,and Keyboard reactes with Light on keyboard and with Ping on Computer if i push some Buttons.Mouse has light on Well. seems Screen works. I did not get the Software. It is Snow leopard on but i don't know if re-installing would help or if i need the Pack for 3150.- or what it cost. I also don't know if not Video-Card or logic board fails

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was using firefox today (all I had open was facebook and gmail) and iCal was open in another space. All of the sudden my macbook screen went black, but the backlight was still on and the music was playing. I hit the space bar a few times and moved around the mouse and the screen came on for a second or 2, but then went black again. It wouldn't come back, so I had to hold down the power button. When it restarted, everything was normal, except that now the fan is going fast and loud, and my computer is getting hot with only firefox open to macrumors.

This is very upsetting. Why does this keep happening? Can the computer i have now be fixed? I would love to someday get another one, but sence i've already spent over $2000 on the two laptops that do not work, im not sure i want another ibook. Ever since I've had my Mac, about three times a day my screen will go completely black after I've moved the cursor very quickly or in a herky-jerky motion. I don't think I'm pressing down on the right or left--it just seems to be some motion.

So when I try to log in, the screen goes black, after a few seconds, when I move the mouse around, press a few keys on the keyboard, the login screen comes back. But the same thing happens when i try to log in, it just keeps going black.
