QuickTime :: Will Plugin Allow To View Multiple Pages In A Tiff File
I've subscribed to a web-based service that allows me to view court documents online, but QuickTime won't let me view anything more than the first page of these tiff files. The regular version of QuickTime won't allow me to view multiple pages, even if I do uncheck tiff files in the settings. I'm using Google Chrome, but I can't seem to find a good plugin to view multiple tiff pages. The only way I can view multiple pages on a tiff file from this Internet program is to uninstall QuickTime. But if I do that I can't get iTunes to play. I'd go ahead and pay the $30 to upgrade to QuickTime Pro if I thought that would solve my problem, but I don't know if that will work. Does anyone know if QuickTime Pro will allow users to view multiple pages in a Tiff File?

MacBook Pro :: Merge Multiple Files And Multiple File Types Into A Single PDF?
Can I merge multiple files, and multiple file types, into a single PDF with my MacBook Pro?, Can I merger multiple files, and multiple file types, into a single PDF with my MacBook Pro?

I need to combine word docs, .jpgs, .PDFs, .pptx files from multiple sources into a single PDF.  In the past I've used software such as Nuance but I'm wondering if there's something in the MacBook Pro OS or applications that support this function.

When I send a mail from a pages document as a one page pdf file, the url links that it contains aren't working. When my mail arrives, the recipient sees the link, has a little hand that indicates the link, but when clicking on it, the screen becomes light blue and nothing happens. When i send a two page pdf file (and this file comes as an unopened attachment). The recipient can open the attachment click on the link and then the link works.

In Windows XP, it is easy to print multiple jpg images into a single pdf. I want to do the same with OS X on my MacBook. I often need to scan a few pages from a book making jpgs, and then print as a single pdf. I can't figure out how to do that in OS X. Can anyone tell me how this is done?

Snow Leopard :: Combine Pdf Pages Into One Single Document
In Leopard I used PDFLab but the author claims that Apple has removed the functionality which enables this program from Snow Leopard. So, until he re-writes his program, how do you propose one could put together a bunch of PDF pages into a single document? Perhaps using Automator? A bit clumsy, and I'm not very fluent in it, but I guess if I was pointed to an Automator Action I could settle for that!

Pages 09 :: Inserting A Multiple Page .pdf In Pages
I want to insert a pdf with multiple pages into a Pages document. I do not need to edit the text or images.

I can insert the first page of the .pdf document with no problems, and align it to my page as a floating image. However, I can't find any way to select the remaining pages of the .pdf. Is there a way I can do this from Pages, or will I need to split the .pdf into separate files for each page (using something like Acrobat Professional), and insert each file manually?

Pages 09 :: Pdf File Exported Out Of Pages - How To Know About It
I created a Pages document. I am able to export it to pdf. The pdf document looks fine. However if a user (PC or Mac, different computers) tries to copy text out of the created pdf document and paste it into another application (whatever the appli), the pasted text contains only ONE word per line. This is extremely annoying since I want to share my pdf file with people who will need to copy/paste part of my text.

Snow Leopard :: Multiple File Types To PDF
I have a need to combine images and documents into a single PDF. Using automator, I am able to make an application that combines selected images in the finder into a pdf, but it doesn't work on text documents.

So, I found this application that adds a text to PDF conversion into automator.

However, I have never gotten this converter to work, and I certainly haven't found any way to combine one automator workflow using both of these at the same time.

With OSX's ability to save just about any file to a PDF from the print menu, I am thinking it should be easier than what I am doing. After all, it's built into the OS, right? So, am I missing something? Is there an easier way to take multiple documents like .rtf and .doc, with images like .jpg and .tif all at once and combine them into a single PDF? I am not stuck on using an automator application, I would gladly purchase reasonably priced software that is capable of doing this, but I have been looking and have been unable to find anything to do what I need. Of course, I found quite a few applications for windows, but nothing for mac.

Applications :: Creating One PDF File Of Multiple Documents?
I'm looking to take multiple documents and create one PDF file. Like scanning multiple pages of something and instead of having each page be a file, creating one file. In Preview, you can open multiple PDFs in the same window, but if you print (or Save to PDF from the print dialogue, it will only do each document as is. I would like to avoid loading multiple pages into Word and then exporting to PDF and I would also like to avoid having to buy Acrobat. Is this PDF function limited in OS X or am I missing something?

OS X Leopard :: Sips Converted PDF To TIFF Format
I'm using sips to convert a pdf file to a tiff file. I need to generate a tiff file without any alpha channels. I'm trying to run the resulting tiff through tesseract ocr. If I do this: sips -s format tiff infile.pdf --out outfile.tif It gives me a tiff file, but when I run it through tesseract, I get this:

command: tesseract outfile.tif ocr_data.txt
results: check_legal_image_size:Error:Only 1,2,3,5,6,8 bpp are supported:16

As a work around, I use sips to convert the pdf to a jpeg first, then convert the jpeg to a tiff. That generates a tiff file that works with tesseract ocr. However, I don't want to do two image conversions to get a working tiff file. Are there any settings that would allow me to convert the pdf directly to a tiff file that works in tesseract? Does anyone know how to convert a multi-page pdf to a multi-page tiff file? When I feed a multi-page pdf into sips, the resulting tiff is only the first page.

OS X Leopard :: Save As PDF In Excel Rewrites File When Saving Multiple Sheets?
I'm having issues saving Excel files to PDF when multiple sheets of a workbook are active. I constantly need to print multiple sheets of a workbook for a service report, but when multiple tabs are highlighted to print/save it will save each sheet as the output file but immediately overwrite the saved file with the next sheet. So if I have four sheets active and go to print/pdf/save to pdf I will briefly see a "processing page" message box for each sheet but in the end I will only have one pdf file of the last active sheet. A single sheet will save beautifully but it's kind of a pain to constantly string together the pdf files. I looked through the Excel forum, but it seems they point anything pdf related back to OS X. I'm running XL 12.1.5 and OS X 10.5.6.

Pages 09 :: Pdf With Table Of Contents From File
I discovered in a pdf file sent to me that it has a table of contents in the sidebar where thumbnails, and annotations also reside. When I create a pdf from my pages document this is not available. In the table of contents sidebar are the words 'No Sections'. How do I create sections for every para styled as a heading so that they show in the table of contents sidebar of the pdf file. I have been using outline to navigate in the pages file but the pdf would be simpler for me to do under meeting conditions.

Pages 09 :: Can Create Low Resolution Pdf File?
I have a 12 page document with a number of pictures which I wish to save as a PDF and upload to a website. In Pages when I export it as a PDF I get a choice of 'Good', 'Better' or 'Best' for image quality. Choosing 'Good' the resulting file is 8MB, rather too large for my liking. However when choosing 'Best' the resulting file size is still 8MB. So my questions are:

1. What's the difference between these settings?
2. Is it possible to create a PDF which reduces the image quality to screen resolution to make a smaller file?

Pages 09 :: Unable To Read Saved PDF File On CD Disk
I recently composed a several page Christmas letter (pics and text) and wanted to take it to a commercial printer for hard copies. The commercial printers are not Mac compatible so he told me to save it in a PDF format and they would use that. I was unable to read the saved Pages PDF file on my PC when saved to a CD disk. However when I save the PDF file to an SD card, I can then open and read it on my PC. When I view the CD on my PC, it shows no files at all on the CD. So I do now have the file to take to the printer via SD card, but am confused as to why I could not save it to the cd disk. The saved file on cd could however be read on my Mac when I would open it there, just not on my PC.

Applications :: Pages-export To Pdf Creates Massive File Size?
I'm a complete noob when it comes to Pages (iWork'05), and I'm editing my first newsletter which is supposed to go out to 300 people by e-mail. However, when I export it to pdf, the file size is 22.8mb! For 6 pages!

I've chosen the Extreme newsletter template (red one), and I have 6 pages in total. The only reason I can think of why it's so big is that when i drag and drop photos into the photo-boxes, the image isn't scaled down at all, not even when I export it to pdf. Is that right? It's only about 1 or 2 photos per page, and I have two pages with three small photos and a larger photo at the bottom. Anyone got some insights?

Pages 09 :: Creating PNG - TIFF / JPG Graphics - Doesn't Eliminate Background
I couldn't find anything addressing this, so if someone knows of something already, feel free to redirect me. I'm helping a group out by creating a logo for them and I did so in Keynote and Pages. I know I can save as .pdf and then convert to .jpg or .tiff or whatever. *But my problem is that I need the background to be invisible (rather than white). From what I've discovered, it needs to be a .png for that, but converting my .pdf to .png doesn't eliminate the background. * This was never a problem creating things for myself to use on my Mac -because I can always alpha out the background if needed. But they have PCs and will be needing the graphic for all sorts of applications, including over colored objects. This is a free project and I have no money to buy new programs. Tried the Pixelmator demo but can't seem to transfer the image to it without blurring - plus without purchasing the full product there will be a watermark.

OS X Leopard :: Convert Multiple Page Pdf To Multiple Jpg?
is there anyway of converting a multiple page pdf file in preview to multiple jpgs in one go? I've tried selecting all, but it still only converts one page into a jpg, when using the "save as" function. I'm currently having to convert each page in the file individually, which is rather time-consuming. If preview can't do it, is there any other software (preferably not too expensive) that can?

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Automator Workflow To TAR Multiple Files In A Single Directory Into Multiple TAR Archives In Succession?
I have set up an automator service that TAR's a folder into an archive for me and it works quite nicely. Idealy however, I would like to be able to highlight several folders, right click and have automator tar each folder into it's own TAR archive, but do it one by one.

I'm not 100% sure so I guess it would be a good time to verify, is there a problem with having the system try to TAR multiple folders at one time? If it is not a problem then I guess this discussion itself is pointless and I can simple right click on each folder and select "TAR Folder" and just wait until they're all finished. I would think that it would be ideal for the system to do each one individually and not try to do them all at one time.
