Sep 11, 2014I use Preview to merge PDF files. I have noticed that the resulting files are a lot larger than the sum of the single PDFs. An example: I have 3 files with the following file sizes: 70 KB, 120 KB, 1.3 MB. The resulting PDF after merging those files in one is over 5 MB. Â

Well it saved me a bazillion dollars in burned cds. The problem is it made a new account on my Macbook representing my old computer with the files on it. I want the files on my main Macbook account. Then I want to delete this second account it made. How do I go about this? hmmm?

Is there any way to transfer all files from folder 1 to folder 2 but not overwrite those that already exist? Sep 25, 2010I finally ripped my music into digital format. It is a very large library so I performed the rips in four segments creating four folders of music. The highest level folders are Music1, Music2, Music3, Music4. The next layer folder is the artists name, then album name, then the actual MP3S.
How do I merge the folders? If I perform a copy the first artist name is sees that already is exists, the finder wants me to skip the copy or replace the folder that is there. I simply want to add the folder or merge it. Is there a "merge" function in OSX? I tried Carbon Copy but it will not copy or sync fils on the same disk.

Now when i enter single user mode it spams USBF: 63.570 AppleUSBEHC2{0x3fc38001] found a transaction past the completion deadline on bus 0xfd, timing out! The number changes but keeps going. Jun 26, 2014 I download an mp3 file. One of them is for a class I'm taking that has audio files as part of the course. If I double click in Finder on the file, it begins playing in iTunes and when done, iTunes goes on to play something else. While online is a live class, I did this and iTunes picked up a recording of a discussion I had recorded and played it aloud with my live mic to the entire class.
There are a number of things I hate about iTunes, this is but one. In general I use it without trouble. However, if I construct a playlist, when that list is exhausted it in some fashion known only to iitself and the developers chooses somewhere else to continue. It tends to think of itself as a super large iPod and keeps playing until I manually stop it. Since I have many days of audio in the library, this is not particularly sensible. What is the best way to play a single or small set of mp3 or other audio files and then stop?  iMac with Mavericks 10.9.3

Feb 6, 2009I am searching for a plugin, software or a solution for a situation I have with an Excel/Word Mail Merge.
It's a law firm we specialize in DUI/DWI and Reckless Driving defense. We subscribe to a data collection service that pulls data from various court systems around the state. We are then given this data by jurisdiction. The Excel files we receive come with 2 workbooks in one file for Traffic and Criminal arrests data with name, address, reason for arrest, etc, etc.
What I have been doing is opening each Excel file and copying and pasting into a new worksheet only grabbing the DUI and Reckless driving arrests because tis is all I am needing from the various files. I then save the new workbook and do a mail merge with Word from this newly created workbook.
Now my question is there such a plugin or software that will combine all the Excel files I receive from the Data collection house and then be able to filter out only the DUI and Reckless Driving arrests to a single Excel Workbook?

Intel Mac :: Override "All My Files" And Restrict Search To A Single External Hard Drive?
May 24, 2012I've got 3 large external hard-drives--WD, Seagate, iOmega--connected to my iMac to contain a sprawling music collection. I'm working on deduping, etc., but each attempt to search a single hard drive results in my search being shunted to "All My Files." I'll watch the Finder each time I enter a search term in the window of one drive, and upon entering a syllable in a drive's Search box, the area is expanded to include every folder in at least 4 different hard drives (inclding my iMac's).
I'm not sure if the problem is overly large drives (500 GB to 1.5 TB) or some default setting, probably associated with Spotlight, that interprets each and every search as, basically, "everything Spotlight can conceivably see." Needless to say, my cleaning project is going slow--primarily because I can't work "one room at a time."

I'm not 100% sure so I guess it would be a good time to verify, is there a problem with having the system try to TAR multiple folders at one time? If it is not a problem then I guess this discussion itself is pointless and I can simple right click on each folder and select "TAR Folder" and just wait until they're all finished. I would think that it would be ideal for the system to do each one individually and not try to do them all at one time.Â
Applications :: ITunes Library - Merging Two
Sep 2, 2010In my ~/Music folder resides two huge folders for iTunes. I'm sure this came about when I reinstalled Snow Leopard some time ago, I didn't realize the transfer didn't happen correctly at the time. One is called iTunes (296 gigs, last opened on Aug 31 and modified today) which seems to be my current folder used by iTunes 10. The other is called iTunes Media (252 gigs, last opened July 30 and last modified on the same date). I'm noticing in here however, files (such as Voice Memos) that are NOT in the first folder I mentioned above. I've probably tons of duplicates here, but what is not a duplicate I'd like to send into the correct place - and then kill the huge unneeded folder! How can I verify where iTunes looks for all of it's data? Music, videos, books, etc. Any suggestions as to how I could merge these?
