For years "Print" opened with the Orientation pre-set to print vertically, which is what I wish to use 95% of the time. Recently my Print began invariably printing Horizontally which I forget to change and I end up with a wasted  piece of paper.

I have an "extra" Mini that I want to set-up in my kitchen. My plan is to mount the computer vertically on the inside of a cabinet. Will mounting the Mac in this way cause any trouble with the hard drive or DVD?

I can't seem to be able to change the page orientation of a few pages, in iWorks Pages. To clarify - i need the orientation of only 3 pages in the whole document, changing from portrait to landscape. It can be done on MS, so i thought it might be possible on Pages, but i can't seem to figure out how, or find anywhere which tells me how.

I have searched the forums and found what I believe is the correct solution: delete the com.apple.print.PrintingPrefs.plist file from the user Library/Preferences. Now I am a little nervious about throwing away what may be a system type file, so I would really appreciate if someone would confirm that when this preference file is trashed, the system will rebuild it, I am guessing, on a restart.

When I view a received e-mail in Mail, it appears as part of a conversation. I want to be able to print single e-mails. In the View menu, 'Organize by Conversation' is checked by default. If I select an e-mail in my inbox, it appears on screen as part of the conversation, but with a gap between individual e-mails*. if I select the particular e-mail in the conversation that I want and go to Print, it prints the whole conversation. If I uncheck 'Organize by Conversation' and select an e-mail in the inbox, it again appears on screen as a part of the conversation, but without a gap between individual e-mails* and if I print, it still prints the whole conversation. * This, too, seems perverse. I would have thought that with 'Organize by Conversation' checked, the conversation should appear onscreen as continuous, whereas it appears with gaps, and, conversely, with 'Organize by Conversation' unchecked it should appear with gaps, whereas in fact it appears without gaps. I then found this:[URL] But nothing seems to work. In systems prior to "lion" when I wanted to select and print multiple different imagews per page, I could select the number I desired in "copies per page". Now when I select a number in "Copies per page", I get that number of a single image instead of 1 of each each different image.

OK I set-up the LAN (first connecting printer to the MacBook Pro running 10.8.5) via USB and then removed the USB cables so that now the iPad and the iPhone can select the printer - but it just prints blank sheets of paper and says there is an error each time.Â

when i print more the 2 pages after each page the printer take out 2 blank page and than stops (i have to press its bottom to make it pull the next paper)
if i don't press the bottom or sometime in a middle of the printing page i get an error "the process usb stopped unexpectedly with status 81"

I tried to update the overdrive media app from my library. it downloaded a dmg file into my download folder. I could not open this file. I tried changing gatekeeper preferences, rightclicking the file and and opening it from that dialogue box, but all that happens is it starts to open and then nothing. No dialogue box, or message of any kind. this has happened with other app updates downloaded from outside the app store.Â

I was using Logic Pro X and the program crashed before I could save my project. There is now a file called "untitled" that appears to be a Logic Project file, however I cannot delete, open, rename, and move it anywhere. When I try to click and drag the file icon, it doesn't allow me to move it anywhere.  Â
When right-click on the file, it pops up the window, but there are only a few options available. I went to "get info" and saw that the file permissions are "unknown". I've tried repairing disk permissions in the disk utility, however the file is still unaccessible.It's not a large file (only 578K), but it would still like to remove it.Â

I seem to be having a hell of a time with all google related things. About 50% of the time I can't get to the google search page and get the error message Safari can't open the page [URL] because Safari can't connect to the server. When I am able to get into gmail, I am constantly being disconnected from gchat, like every 5 minutes. When it disconnects, it will try to reconnect, most of the time unsuccessfully. I then get the error message, unable to reach gmail please check your internet connection. This happens no matter what browser I use. However, when I try to connect from my husband's PC (same network), everything is fine. I've tried emptying my safari cache, tried uninstalling and re-installing both safari and firefox, and I am out of ideas. Any ideas about what is going on, and how I might fix this issue. I searched through the google help, and there were similar problems posted (none recently), but no answers on how to solve the issue. This has been going on for about a week now, and it's driving me up a wall.

I have a Macbook Version 10.6.8 So as I was working on an essay last night, my computer began to freeze (especially when I would launch a browser such as firefox or chrome). Pressed for time, I tried restarting my computer multiple times, at which my computer continued to freeze (Finder was not responding?). So I decided to Safe Boot. Â
At this point, the freezing stopped, and I was able to continue working on my essay (cool). I thought everything was fine, so once I reached a point where I had to go to sleep, I saved my work and told my computer to restart, just to see if problems would continue to happen afterwards. Â
At this point, when I booted up my macbook, a gray loading bar would appear at the initial loading screen with a white background and the apple logo. The gray bar would load only about 1/8 of the way, then after a while it would disappear, and re-appear, again loading about 1/8. But this time, after a while, my laptop would simply shut off. I tried restarting my computer many times, but the same thing would happen. Â
Eventually I did some research and found that this was mainly a hard drive issue. My hard drive would sometimes make a noise as the startup loaded, usually when the gray bar stopped loading. Â
After having a friend take a look at it, who miraculously fixed it (I don't know what he did), my laptop is now functioning normally. I backed up my files, and checked disk utility, which said that my harddrive was "OK". Â
Should I take my laptop to the genius bar just to make sure? Also, am I still technically in safe boot? I'm afraid that if I turn my laptop off and restart it, the same problem will occur and I will have to replace my hard drive. What should I do at this point?

This wasn't a problem before as it printed any page Safari sent it. I'm wondering if others are having this same problem with Safari. There are some Web pages I have to print independent of others and some which just won't print anymore.

i've just bought my new mac pro, i'm very happy with it's performance, but there is 1 small little tiny problem, i've ordered my mac pro with wireless card, but my wireless connection is very slow , every web page i open it take minutes to open, before i had an imac, the wireless connenction was super fast, then i've sold it to my dad , but my new mac pro is very slow, mention that it's in the same room and in the same place my imac was.
i've check my bluetooth, i've send and receive some files with my bluetooth to my moblie, it was great, but when i copy files from my brothers computer it was slow and then it stucks , with my imac this never happens.i opened my mac pro to check the wireless card and i found this:-
antenna 1 was in the bluetooth card.
antenna 2 was in the upper wireless card.
antenna 3 was in the lower wireless card.
the weird thing i've found is that my speed connection it goes fast and then is goes slow then fast then slow, it's not stable, another weird thing is that my wireless speed is slow then when i press the wireless bars it goes fast then it returns slow again.this is a really lousy service from apple to make the wireless card as optional , it's really unfair i mean it is the most powerfull mac ever and wireless is not included one more question, is there a difference between the wireless card in the imac and in the mac pro?
