OS X Mountain Lion :: Cannot Open Excel Doc From Outlook Security Risk
Aug 22, 2014
I get this message when opening an Excel doc from Outlook Email "This attachment was removed because it contains data that could pose a security risk". I know this doc is safe, how do I get to see it?

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.5), it is actually 10.8.5
Using Yahoo in Outlook on OS X Mountain Lion - deleted emails repeatedly reappear in in-box after a minute or so, but when I delete them from the Trash they no longer reappear. This has been going on for weeks
I purchased my MacPro last November. I loaded NUMBERS on my macnine as well as PAGES, and KEYNOTE. I was determined to learn these programs and not rely on using MS OFFICE on my Mac. The rest of my office is still using PC/s and therefore when I am sent a document, it is with MS OFFICE. Up until the first of March, I was able to access all documents sent to me, but sometime in March, EXCEL files sent to me gets an error message:
This document was created with an unsupported version of Excel. Only documents created with Excel ’97 or later can be opened.
It seems to associate to the upgrade that came out for LION during that month. I have tried everything. My office has tried sending in every format without success. WHAT CAUSED THE CHANGE?

I tried to update the overdrive media app from my library. it downloaded a dmg file into my download folder. I could not open this file. I tried changing gatekeeper preferences, rightclicking the file and and opening it from that dialogue box, but all that happens is it starts to open and then nothing. No dialogue box, or message of any kind. this has happened with other app updates downloaded from outside the app store.
I was using Logic Pro X and the program crashed before I could save my project. There is now a file called "untitled" that appears to be a Logic Project file, however I cannot delete, open, rename, and move it anywhere. When I try to click and drag the file icon, it doesn't allow me to move it anywhere. When right-click on the file, it pops up the window, but there are only a few options available. I went to "get info" and saw that the file permissions are "unknown". I've tried repairing disk permissions in the disk utility, however the file is still unaccessible. It's not a large file (only 578K), but it would still like to remove it.

For years "Print" opened with the Orientation pre-set to print vertically, which is what I wish to use 95% of the time. Recently my Print began invariably printing Horizontally which I forget to change and I end up with a wasted piece of paper.

how to open mission control using magic trackpad. I tried swapping three fingers up, but it did not work. Three fingers only highlights, it does not open any application.
got automatically put into the Logic Pro discussions, however it's not really a Logic question or issue, more of a disk permission issue (I think..). Here is the original post: URL.... I'm stuck with this file on my system and how to remove it.

I am in a very sticky situation that involves the law and how much/often I can see my daughter. I have a number of text messages that are on my Nokia E65 that I need to back up on my computer. I need to know that there is zero risk of losing these messages as they can determine very important arguments in court.
I am using Comcast as the internet provider for my computer. They recently sent an email saying they highly recommended downloading Norton Internet Security for Mac [Norton 360 Technology].They are offering this Security package at no charge. The reason they say they are offering this is because their "Constant Guard" has identified my computer as possibly being infected with a bot.I am fearful of installling this if it will "mess up" anything already on my iMac.
I've got some mailboxes in Outlook 2003 on my Windows work machine that I'd like to export and open on my Mac, maybe saving them on a USB key and taking them home. Can I open or work with these on my MBP running Leopard? The emails only have to be read-only, even just being able to open and read them would be OK, but I'd also like the attachments, if at all possible. I can't currently test this on my work (Tiger) Mac as Mail isn't working. Any clues from the wise ones?
I just purchased my first IMac 21.5". I am having problems with opening some emails that were created in outlook express. When I try to open them it asks what program to use to open it. When I check the properties of the attachment it says the file type is .email.
I can't open the Security preference pane in System Preferences. I can open desktop settings, spotlight, expos & spaces etc just fine, but the moment I click 'Security', I get the spinning beach ball, system preferences freezes and I have to force shut it down. I made a quick video using Screenflow to demonstrate the issue (the beach ball doesn't seem to appear in the video .. it did though) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2264334/Pref...e%20Issues.mov I tried repairing the permissions. Didn't work.
I am fairly new to the Mac world and have been using Entourage flawlessly for my needs. I upgraded to day to Office 2011 and am having nothing but trouble with Outlook. Every time I try to open a new mail or create and email or really just click on anything, I get the spinning wheel. At this point it is rendering it unusable. I have tried removing the account and reinstalling it.
"check with devleoper to make sure microsoft outlook works with this veriosn of mac os x. you may need to reinstable the application it used to work fine but recently stopped working. further error detials below

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6.3 (Build 10D2094) CPU: Intel Core Duo, Number: 4, Speed: 2147 MHz Haven't had a problem to date and after opening a file that excel obviously struggled with for some reason, excel open briefly then I encounter the following error message. Much obliged for any help or guidance.
My MBP blew up so am on a temporary Blackbook and luckily all my important day to day docs are on my iDisk, no problem I thought... But something really odd is happening, when I try to open a spreadsheet with Excel (tried 04 and 08) it says "the file may be read only or you may be trying to access a read only location or the server the document on may not be responding".
I can open the file with open office and ALL other file types open fine from iDisk (including Word and PPT).
At the moment I am having to drag the files to my desktop edit them and drag them back to iDisk so all is up to date when I get my computer back.
Has anyone had anything similar? Any tips gratefully received (apart from the obvious; ditch MS Office!).
After first noticing the problem I set iDisk to keep a local copy on the temp machine but this made no difference.
