View 3 RepliesI have recently upgraded to Mavericks and now find that my old Word files (2004) can't be opened. (I can still open my Word 2008 files.) I have been a maths teacher for decades and have many old files which are still very useful but they contain more than just text; they contain diagrams, MathType expressions etc. etc. I need to be able to convert these files to files that can be opened with Mavericks. How I can do this?

Microsoft Word Mail Merge launches a file converter when using Excel files as the data source. Nothing new about that. However, when using Mail Merge in Word 2008 and an Excel xlsx file as data source under OS X 10.6, the file converter will not recognize the file unless the extension .xlsx is actually appended to the file name. The file converter used by Word 2008 still recognizes xls files with or without the extension appended, as did the file converter used by Word X.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a macbook pro retina. I have adobe lightroom, powerpoint. I DON'T want to download some new application that'll take me years to figure out. or charge me. I have a blog and I want to make it into a magazine. I tried to minimize the screen to take a screenshot and load it manually, page by page, but I can't get the page to zoom out far enough. I don't feel like what I want to do is that unorthodox, yet there doesn't seem to be an easy way to do this. The blog is at rosendude.blogspot.com. Ideally, I'd like each article to be one page and the front page to be the cover.

I'm guessing it's connected with my recently updating my MacBook Pro (2.9 GHz Intel Core i7) to OS 10.9.4. Whether I open Word by clicking on a Word document, opening it via Spotlight, or directly clicking the application icon itself, my keyboard is changed from Dvorak to the standard American English keyboard. And as if that weren't irritating enough, if I change the keyboard back to Dvorak, opening another Word document while Word is still open causes it to flip back to American English.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am a Mac user under the latest software.
We are using via the google cloud word documents that we can share with PC users.
I marked on my mac in the cloud the tags to different documents. I see them visible next to the file once in a time in the color that i used. If i look under icon tags on my toolbar i see the color label active.
All my other users work on windows, and they do not see my tags. Is there a way we can make that happens for everybody and that the tags stays next to the document file.
