Microsoft Word Mail Merge launches a file converter when using Excel files as the data source. Nothing new about that. However, when using Mail Merge in Word 2008 and an Excel xlsx file as data source under OS X 10.6, the file converter will not recognize the file unless the extension .xlsx is actually appended to the file name. The file converter used by Word 2008 still recognizes xls files with or without the extension appended, as did the file converter used by Word X.

View 8 Replies View RelatedAfter OS Lion installation pre migration to iCloud, I can't access Word or Excel - greyed out no entry sign and error message when try to open. "You can't open the application Microsoft Word because PowerPC applications are no longer supported". Didn't see any warning of this pre-installation. Didn't see any warning of this pre-installation. I paid for these two softwares and use them daily on my iMac. Need an urgent fix to access previous files. Any solutions to install a fix perhaps, and then re-install the software from my back up? Plus any Apple solutions to no longer having iWeb?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an address book-created VCARD list that I need to get into some form of comma delimited or Excel.
I have not touched WINDOWS in 9 years so please don't suggest anything that has anything to do with Windows. I am a MAC user.
Being forced to use OFFICE in this Word/Excel/powerpoint world I attempted to do something through Entourage.
After I wasted an hour with that, I posted this on this forum.
If anyone knows of any program that will allow you to create an address list so a MAC user who has created vCARDS in address book can share with Excel users, let me know.
I have 5000 contacts stored in Excel sheet and I am using Office 2010. It’s such a cumbersome task to copy each contact in Gmail for bulk emailing. Is there any online tool available through which I can convert all these contacts into single VCF file?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have problems opening PP. It looks as though it tries to open a couple of files that were left open when I logged off, with no success. Do you know how to block the opening of previously left open files when I launch the program?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have these Numbers files but need to send them to someone who is using a pc with MS Excel. She won't be able to read the files if they are left as .numbers. The odd thing is that I have successfully saved some of the files as .xls and .xls.xls and even some as .xls.numbers.
However, I have lost data when doing some of these savings - I have been taking the .numbers file and trying to save it as .xls but when I open the newly-saved file there's nothing there. Please look at the attached snapshot of my folder structure. Can you anything in there that might be causing my problem? The red arrows are just to highlight the ones I'm particularly interested in.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am running MS Office for Mac 2008 under OS X 10.6.3...
I do not get a printer dialog box when I print my slides so I do not get the chance to print speaker notes. Also, when running Word, I go directly to print bypassing the printer dialog box in Word.
I have repaired permissions, updated all my software (OS X, MS Office), rebooted.
Suddenly I cannot open a powerpoint presentation from my finder. It gives the notification protected. I did not change anything in my settings I can recall? How can I change this back?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI try to open an exported Keynote '08 document.
Here's what happens: I create a Keynote '08 document and export it as Power Point. If I either double-click or try to open from within PPT '08, I get a crash stating that PPT has encountered an error and needs to quit. This happens EVERY time with EVERY single exported presentation. Oddly, it never happened in PPT '04.
Has anyone else had this issue?
I transferred a Powerpoint 2008 presentation using a USB memory stick from my new iMac (latest OSX) to an older iMac (OSX 10.4.11) but could not open the file either by double-click or from the Powerpoint 2004 application on that computer. The file icon as transferred is a Zip file and when I double-click iI get a window saying 'Archiving file ...' but it doesn't open. Neither do I get an unzipped icon to open. I confirmed that BOMArchivehelper is enabled and exists on the computer. What am I missing?

Does anyone else have problems copying figures (charts) made in Excel into Word? When I copy the figures into Word, they appear ok on a MAC, but when viewed on a PC, the y-axis disappears. I am using Office 2004
View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday morning I was using MS Word and Excel and they were fine but then I closed my computer and opened it 15 minutes later and they wouldn't launch. I made additional space available on my drive (90GB now) and ran Disk Warrior to fix permissions and check the hard drive. Today I am still having hte problem. I was able to get Word to open up a blank document but then it immediately crashed. I am trying to figure out if I can solve this without having to reinstall as my installation disks are several years old and I don't have them with me. I am contemplating upgrading my MacBook Pro (2011 model) from Snow Leopard to Lion. I am concerned about the level of strong criticism about Lion, especially the comments that MS Word and Excel (and Powerpoint?) cannot run in Lion. What is the full story? Can I run MS Office products by reloading them into Lion environment?
