I just bought a new 2012 aluminum Wireless keyboard and the function keys do not work properly. I am currently running OS 1.5.8. I would expect most keys to match the icons on the keyboard. I do not want to upgrade to Snow Leopard or Lion. I have installed an aluminum keyboard upgrade 2.0 and this did not help. I just want the the keyboard functions to match the icons on the keyboard.. Volume up...volume down...

i started my imac 10.6.2 this morning and for the first time it has asked me for my password, which is fine, but the keyboard will not work, i just get that 'bonging' sound when i type. can anyone help as i am effectively locked out of my own system and am using a friends laptop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOS X Lion, output: Cinema Display. Volume doesn't change by control keys on keyboard. But it does with software volume control (on iTunes, for example). When I press control buttons on keyboard, volume icon on display appears and changes - but not the volume. It lets me know that buttons are working, and Mac recognizes that.

Bluetooth says my keyboard is paired, configured, and connected (and it works).Keyboard under System Preferences says "no keyboard found" and it continues to search for the keyboard. I have rebooted and also deleted and added the keyboard. Should I be concerned? Does the iMac need service ?

I have my Mini hooked up through a usb/minidisplayport to HDMI adapter. On my keyboard when I push mute or volume up or down, the computer shows the mute/vol up/vol down icon on the screen when I push it and it makes the volume sound, but it does not actually mute the tv or make the volume go up or down. Only the actual TV controls will make it work.
View 8 Replies View Relatedi have been spending ages and a bit of money trying to get my LG tv linked up to my 2008 iMac. i have had advise from the guys at apple and bought a mini dvi to dvi adapter and a dvi to hdmi adapter. i was assured this would work but so far all i get is my desk top and when i play a film it plays fine (acting as another monitor) but the sound is still coming out of my imac. Â
am i wrong in thinking you can get the sound to come out of the tv? do i just need to set up some speakers under my tv and connect my imac to them so if feels like the sound is coming out the tv? obviously i dont want to do that, i want the sound to come out of my tv!Â

I have a 2006 IMac that works perfectly except for one thing. One day last year out of the blue the sound stopped working and I would get the 'not allowed' circle when I tried to adjust the volume. the problem persisted for a week or so, then the sound just came back on. Everything was fine untill a month ago when the same thing happened. I did some research and tried the toothpick trick and everything related but nothing worked, then the next morning the sound was on. Over the next few weeks the sound would go on and off randomly for no apparent reason. It has now been off for two solid weeks and I don't know what to do. Is it possibly a loose connection inside the computer that just needs to be plugged in?

I do not know how my iMac has no audio device selected. I did go to settings, sound, and even went through some others' questions to select internal speakers, but that option is not there...and I still couldn't figure it out. It was working just fine yesterday.

The startup sound works but after you get to the desktop screen there is no sound. When you push the speaker keys there is a circle with a line thru it. I reboot and everything works after reboot. So I have to start and reboot everytime to get the sound to work.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have no audio, either on the internet or YouTube. I checked System Preferences>Sound and note that both sliders in this drop down box cannot be moved. Also the "mute" box at the bottom right is checked. I cannot "unmute" this check mark. Before i did all the above I pressed the F12 button to increase volume but nothing (no sound) comes off.

I've been sending music from spotify out to my pioneer vsx-1121 through my WAN to a WAN adaptor on the reciever, but I've been getting annoying drop outs in the transmission.I've been told I can hook up a hdmi cable to my imac route the sound into my a/v reciever this way. There doesn't seem to be any clear information out there on how to do this (that I've found).

My iMac switches from internal audio output to external when I log in after computer wakes up from sleep mode. It also does it when I "shut down" under apple menu and physically turn on via the power button on back. My quick fix is to go under audio settings and manually switch audio output back to internal speakers. I don't understand why it's switching on it's own. Could another program be switching the audio output, maybe iTunes?

the ONLY output device listed in my system preferences is Digital Output with Optical Digital-Out Port. I NEVER used headphones or any external speakers. I don't know what turned the Internal Speakers OFF But I would like to turn them back on. I can't find any thing any where in the OS that would do that. Any one has ANY Clue to why this would happen?
