Jul 17, 2007

There's no Photosmart C4280 under the list of printer models on the list. Can anyone help? Whenever I try to print something offline it'll just keep taking in loads of computer paper but nothing comes out.

When it does print it prints werid stuff like "dup 33 /R put dup 34 /a put dup 35/l put etc etc readonly def /fonttype 42 def /fontmatrix matrix def."

OS X V10.7 Lion :: HP Photosmart C4280 Shows USB Not Connected Message?

Mar 15, 2012

I have an HP Photosmart C4280 printer that works fine when I want to print, but when I try to scan with Image Capture here's what happens: I can do an Overview scan, can see the document in the window, but the button to the right of overview does not show "Scan,"but a greyed out "Cancel."When I try to manually scan from the printer, an error message pops up in the printer window that says "USB not connected?" I'm pretty sure that the latest drivers are installed.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

Hardware :: Unable To Use Hp C4280?

May 23, 2009

(I've checked the internet/a couple other threads here, but they didn't seem to relate to/resolve my problem)

Okay, this stupid printer has caused me problems from the start. The only reason I have it was because my mom(who is a PC user) bought it since it was compatible with both operating systems, and I wanted a scanner.

The whole scan thing wasn't working for me until I finally figured out on my own to install a new driver, and then it was "fine". But the whole process was slow, redundant, sucky, etc.

It was working - if not well, smoothly - until today, when I started getting kernel panics whenever I attached the included USB port onto my macbook.

I was getting frustrated, and no amount of restarting/researching seemed to get anywhere, so after checking software updates, I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it. Then the setup kept "unexpectedly quitting" whenever I clicked "next".

I repaired the disk, and checked software updates again(apparently there was an HP thing to be downloaded). Now, no printer shows up on the second step. Help?!

I'm fairly certain everything is connected correctly, and the printer is definitely working in terms of connectivity to the electrical outlet, so what is the problem? Am I missing an important step here?

Hardware :: Can't Get An HP Photosmart 4700 To Print From MS Office X?

Oct 16, 2010

I just bought an HP Photosmart 4700 series. For a while it was printing fine, then after shutting down the computer, it suddenly stopped printing from anything Office X software.

It responds on the print command, and then sends out a blank sheet of paper.

That said, it prints everything else - gmail or web pages -- just fine.

My Mac OS is version 10.6.3. My guess is I need to update Office to be compatible with the latest Mac OS. Of course that doesn't explain why it was working before.

I'd rather hear from someone more knowledgeable than I am.

Hardware :: Unable To Use HP Photosmart C4480?

Aug 24, 2009

I haven't been able to get my Macbook to print to my HP Photosmart C4480. The printer is usually hooked up to another computer, although this hasn't been a problem in the past.

(I haven't had any problems with it in the past.)

I've tried to print from several different programs, including a test page, but I keep encountering basically the same problem.:

It slowly prints the first centimeter or so of the page, and then stops. Once, it printed the first two lines of text, but kept re-printing the second line (on the same page.)

The image and the test page I tried to print had the same problem, except they didn't repeat any lines.

Does anyone know what my problem might be?

Hardware :: Unable To Use HP Photosmart C4480 Scanner?

Apr 28, 2010

I got this printer/scanner when I got the Macbook not too long ago and I am finally getting around to setting it up on the new iMac.
It worked perfectly fine on my old G5 iMac running Tiger but for some reason I can't get it to work right on the new Snow Leo. iMac.

I open the HP Device Manager and go to "scan picture". It opens up HP Scan Pro and the scanner starts going but then I get a message on the screen that says:

Quote:

Error

Sorry an unknown error has occured

I fiddled around with some of the preferences and it's saying that it can not communicate with the scanner (which is wrong because it tells it to start scanning and it prints fine).

All updates have been done to both the computer and the scanner software.

Has anyone else had this kind of problem with ANY of the HP peripherals? Need some help with this guys/gals.

OS X :: Unable To Print In Linux Print Server / Not Creating Printer

Dec 27, 2010

I'm new to Mac OS X, but have been working with Linux for almost 9 yrs now. I have set up a Linux box with CUPS 1.3.9. I can print from the server, and from other Linux stations to that remote server. However, I can't print from a client MacBook.

I set up CUPS on the client Mac via http://localhost:631 and created a printer associated with the remote queue / printer on Linux (the URL I use on OS X is http://mylinuxserver:631/printers/hpprinter and the driver is RAW).

I have no problems sending a test page from the CUPS web interface on Mac OS X to the Linux server -- the test page gets printed OK. However, I can't see the printer I just defined from other Mac OS X apps, and neither can I see it from the Add Printer Dialog on System Preferences (it's empty).

I tried creating the printer at the Add Printer dialog, but it would neither let me specify an HTTP URL (as far as I know, I had to use the IP icon on the toolbar) nor specify "RAW". So I tried creating a "dummy" printer in the Add Printer dialog, with a basic config, and then changing it from the CUPS web GUI. This didn't work either, since when I went back to the Add Printer dialog, the printer was gone.

OS X Mavericks :: Print Icon Tends To Stay On Dock After Print Job Is Done And Disorder Print Queue

Jun 28, 2014

I have recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks and am now having problem with my hp 4500 office jet printer. The print icon tends to stay on the dock after the print job is done and then mess up the print queue. Even worse if I forget to cancel it manually then when I put the computer on 'sleep' the printer starts up again and the whole job is rerun unless I get to cancel it quickly on the printer!

It does not always do this (the print icon disappearing as it should do), but for 90% of the time it does.
