OS X Mavericks :: Before IMac Freezes / Get This Error - Logic Pro Caught Burning CPU
Jun 23, 2014
When i start and work with Logic Pro, it freezes after a while and there is no other way, but to force shutdown.I searched for some crash reports but i couldn't find one so i made screenshots of the terminal..I read on the internet some people had the same problem but with other programs, so i'm pretty sure that "Logic Pro caught burning CPU" is the problem. I got this problem since Mavericks 10.9.3, didn't have this with Snow Lion.

I have an imac G5 20" that is approximately two years old. About 2-3 weeks ago it started acting a bit flakey....it would lock up on std apps (firefox), it would always lock up after being revived from sleeping etc. I ran the hardware test and everything checked out. Then a few days ago it wouldn't boot. I get the chime, I hear the drive spinning, then the fans kick into high gear and I get a screen with a folder in the middle with a "question mark icon" and a "finder icon" displaying alternatively inside the folder. So I booted up the hardware test dvd and the test failed 27 seconds in with the following error code:
2GMC/2/15: built-in
Logic Board Error Detected
Are there any other steps I should be taking before taking in for service?

My iMac has recently begun freezing momentarily. First it will freeze for a few seconds (while still allowing the mouse to move). It will resume, and then a minute or so later it will freeze again for a slightly longer duration. During this time, I can move the mouse, click on things, but nothing responds. Music and videos pause and then resume, websites stop loading, not able to type, etc. In fact, it just happened while typing that last sentence.

Last night I updated my iMac to Mac OS X 10.9.4. Whenever I'm using my computer, it freezes up. How can I make it fast and smooth again? I have a most recent Time Machine backup before I updated. If there is a way to gain my computer's speed again? If not, can I possibly go back to 10.9.3?

My iMac started freezing at the login screen. I power up, the apple logo comes up (sometimes the blinking globe comes up for some reason) and then the apple logo flashes as if it restarted or something, and the loading indicator shows up for a few seconds. Then at the login screen everything looks normal (my picture is there and correct name of account is shown) when I type the incorrect password, the text box shakes appropriately. When I type the correct password, the loading indicator appears, the mouse turns into a beach ball, and it hangs until I hard shutdown.
I know it's not a hardware issue because I just booted from the recovery partition and was able to view all my files in terminal. I would rather not reformat the hard drive. Is there a specific file that may be corrupted that I could delete and mavericks would automatically rebuild it?

I'm new to iMac, with a brand new 21.5" and Snow Leopard OS, current version of iDVD. I saved a slide show (approx 240 pics, with audio tracks ripped from CD) from "Photo to Movie 4.2.7" twice, once as a DV movie, again as a Quicktime movie...both around 3.5 GB. In both instances, after dragging the the movies into iDVD and setting up, the resulting movie plays on the iMac, using iDVD preview or Quicktime player, but when I burn on a DVD, the movie "freezes" at approx. the midpoint..that is, the DVD continues to play but the image freezes on the last picture from the movie that burned successfully. There is no music transition at that point, so that is not the issue, and there is no file size warning in iDVD.

Having built a hackintosh with my son, I've taken his old G5 1.6 to use as a desktop. Lovely being able to use dual screens, usefully quicker than my Powerbook G4 1.5 and generally quick enough to do the usual - mail, browsing etc.
Problem is, it's started freezing roughly once a day. No mouse or keyboard reaction, going into standby by using the monitor button doesn't help, the only thing to do is turn it off using the front panel button.
I put new RAM in a few months back and replaced the HDD when it died, so that stuff should all be OK. Any suggestions? I've run all the usual maintenance things via Onyx - permissions, logs, daily / weekly / monthly scripts and so on.
My big concern is obviously that I don't want it to just die on me; no way am I replacing the logic board if it goes.

I'm quite new to Mac, and although everything is pretty clear, I haven't yet figured out how to burn a DVD. Everytime I try, it'll give an error 0x8002006E and stop burning.
- Reading is and has always been fine.
- I'm using Philips DVD-R discs.
- I'm on a white 2Ghz MacBook It's supposed to be able to burn DVD-R, right?
I have tried to do it from the finder, and creating a disc image, and burning it from the disk utility.

MAC error 0x80020022 and 0x8002006D; trying to burn DVD on G4 powerpc (2002). OS 10.4.11 tiger. The two different errors come up at different tries of burning. amount being burned is about 4.2 Gigs on 4.7 gig disks, same error received after reducing size. Cleaning laser head by first using dvd cleaner disk then tried removing dvd and found it looking vary clean. used Isopropyl small amount on Q-tip. Same error. Tried using Onyk to remove cashes - that screwed me up a bit getting DSL back up. Tried new install of OS 10.4 and then rebuilding back to 10.4.11. I am using the MAC burning software as I dumped iDVD a ways back, I found that iDVD did not load up with the reinstall but I don't think that is relevant for burning. I can burn CD with no problem, and I can read both CD and DVD no problem. My DVD are kept in dark and a drawer away from heat. I do not find a specific Apple.plist in Library that might point to this dvd burning issue. so far on the internet have found no one solving this issue but the problems seem common among many different mac computers and OS.

last week i tried burning a dvd using roxio toast, but before it began to burn it says the following error: the drive reported an error: sense key = medium error sence code = 0x73, 0x03 i tried to use another dvd, but it is saying the same error (i have been using the same brand of dvd before but never encountered such problems), so tried to restart, and it proceeded to burn, no more errors, so i thought it was only a one time thing, so today, i tried burning again, the same thing happen, the same error, i tried 4 dvd's but the same error keeps on happening, but when i restart the macbook pro, it would proceed to burn with no errors. i wonder what seems to be the problem? my dvd drive or the software? anyone encountered the same problem before?

Hey there! I don't seem to get through this Issue. I was trying to burn content to a Disc and it failed with the error code 0x8002006E, while the process was almost complete. I came across a few forums and nothing helped much to resolve this problem. Is there someone who knows the exact cause? Is this is a known-issue or anything already being addressed by Apple? Or a work-around to get this resolved? because i also read (did not try) that no third-party applications, as an alternative, solved this Issue. Disappointed! Help! Model: iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011) OS: Lion OS X 10.7.4 I have the latest software updates and Firmware updates installed.

With Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard entering the final stretch of development, overzealous Apple advocates are turning to discussion boards and file sharing websites to show off image and video captures taken from the next generation OS, most recently highlighting features such as simplified security preferences, enhanced searching, QuickTime X's screen recording function and a new version of Image Capture.
On Monday, attention was drawn to a YouTube user's webpage brandishing over a half dozen Snow Leopard demonstration videos, five of which were subsequently removed by the user while another was yanked from the video sharing website after Apple waged a copyright claim. Since then, readers have pointed to a long-running thread over at the French-language MacGeneration website that's serving as yet another forum offering Snow Leopard-related discussion illustrated by numerous screenshots and videos.
QuickTime X Screen Recording
Readers are free to navigate the thread on their own, though AppleInsider has extracted a handful images showing off some features that have received limited coverage in the past or haven't been represented fully in imagery, such as the recently-reported screen recording options due to arrive as part of QuickTime X Player 1.0. Portions of the native recording interface can be seen in the alert below, which initiates a screen capture session and directs the user to a menu bar option to end a session.
Once a user has concluded a Screen Recording session, the following interface and options provide a means of saving and exporting movies files in different sizes and formats.
QuickTime X also offers options for publishing supported movie files to iTunes in one of three pre-set sizes. From iTunes, they can be synced with an iPhone, iPod, or Apple TV:
New Image Capture App
Also worth noting is that Image Capture has grown as an application to adopt a user interface that is more like iTunes and the Finder, with a sidebar for devices, main window for file info and a thin row of controls lining the bottom of the application.
Universal Keyboard Shortcuts
Preference panes are also showing a convergence of UI as shown in this screenshot of the new Keyboard & Mouse preference pane:
Advanced Security Options
As always, Apple takes Security seriously. At the same time, it doesn't want to intimidate less savvy users from taking advantage of all the Mac has to offer. The below example demonstrates a simplified and easy to manage option that helps keep users safe while on the net.
Chinese Handwriting Recognition
With the private release of the most recent Snow Leopard beta, Apple also informed developers about the addition of Chinese handwriting recognition support for Macs that include a multi-touch trackpad. Similar software was added to iPhone Software 2.0 a year ago, allowing users to draw Chinese symbols on their handset's touchscreen and then select matching symbols suggested by the iPhone Software. This feature can be seen in action for the first time in the below YouTube video:
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard is expected to hit the market sometime this summer with a near finalized version now confirmed to make an appearance at Apple's annual developers conference during the second week of June.[ View this article at AppleInsider.com ]

Shortly before switching to Tiger, I was having problems burning DVD's. I noticed it first with toast, but found that it also was happening with the onboard burning software for Mac OS X. Every time I tried burning, it would start into the burn and then give me this error: Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred (Error code 0x8002006D). I did a hardware test, reinstalled system software, and searched all over Google for any possible solutions. I found tons of people with the same problems, but everyone's solutions seemed to differ, and non seemed to work conclusively.
Some said that the lazer was having calibration problems and suggested using a cleaning DVD. Others said that if I created a new user and switched, then it would work. I tried that, and it just got worse. Others said that the media was not good but I've burned with the exact same media in the recent past, and it worked just fine then. Why would it stop accepting a certain type of media all of the sudden. Besides. My co-workers have the same computers, and they can burn just fine. Do I need a new drive, or is it just a simple software problem? CDs burn fine, but no DVD-Rs.

I just got my MacBook Pro (late 2011/Mavericks) back from a covered Apple repair. It now has a new logic board, and although most other things seem to work ok, I cannot log in to either of my Mail accounts (or to the C-panel of my website, where one of those accounts is located), either by using the existing password entries in MAIL preferences, or by entering the passwords manually. How do I get this to reset so that I can access my mail?

I got this problem with my MB, it freezes in the startup. I went to the Macstore and asked a technician for help. He said it could be the Mac OS or the harddrive. He said I should try the Apple Hardware Test and see if's anything wrong. I got this error message: 4SNS/1/40000000:TCOD-102.125 I've searched Google with no positive result.
