Kinda confuse. I have a pop account from my ISP. I received my mail via apple mail. Then I login in to my webmail account from my ISP and it is still all there. The only way is delete the emails from webmail or command I from the inbox. Shouldn't it automatically be remove from server?I have trying searching but coming back with too many hits.
I have 128 GB HDD and many emails syncing by Gmail IMAP. Thousands of emails are stored on my HDD and most of them I will never use in the future. Despite this I'd like to keep them in gmail server, just for case...
I was trying to reduce size of my Mail.app for very long time and nothing works correctly.
Ideal situation would be something like this:
E-mails older than 2 months will automatically delete from Mail.app but not from server. Or it doesn't have to be automatic, but I have to keep them on gmail.com. I'm not sure if it is possible with IMAP.
With OSX 10.6.4 my 2.66 GHz iMac will not stay asleep. It will wake up even though the Wake for Network Access box is NOT checked in System Preferences. Why is this? This happens every night.
I'm the proud owner of a wonderful and powerful Mac Pro 4,1 (2009) which I have "modded" to support a 6-core Intel XEON processor. (Just using the "official" MacPro5,1 firmware). No problems at all with that.I installed the processor using the finest thermal paste, trying to spread it very evenly and not too thick or too thin, and then refitting the sink appropriately by tighting each single screw by just a slight turn and then the one across, and so on.Now I'm unsure if the thermal paste works perfectly or not. My temperatures, under very intense and heavy load with multiple applications (prima95, memtest, etc) it reached the low 70's by winding up the fans. But suddenly, a few minutes later, it the fans slowed down and the temp raised to mid 90s. so I turned it off...Now using an enconding application, like handbrake, I do get values of high 70's to low 80's but the fan remains (too) slow (in my opinion)Is this normal? Am I just too cautious? Why doesn't the fan rev up higher to remain in the low 70's like it did before?
I erased my entire computer and did a fresh install on my macbook air. After completion 1st thing i did was check my storage. Nearly 7 Gigs of other remain.
I'm looking for a Picture Frame that will always remain on my desktop. A widget will only show when you hit the dashboard icon and then disappear with a click. I would like a picture frame that will remain on my desktop and automatically shift through my selected photo's.
Information: 2.66Ghz Quad Core Mac Pro Mac OS X (10.5.6)
The desktop on my Macbook remains white no matter what I have it set to. I can see the color of the background up at the top of the desktop on the translucent menu bar, and also when the computer is booting up and shutting down. Why is this?
this one - adobe, Java, Libre etc. What are they ? Can I delete them ? Also sometimes after installation something alike shows up on my desktop ... What exactly is this.

System information: MacBook Pro 2.226 10.6.4 iTunes 10.0.1 (22) iFlicks_1.2.3_724.dmg
I recently downloaded iFlicks to try a different form of meta tagging. However I did not care for it too much.I only ran it from the mounted disk image (dmg) instead of actually installing it. I didnt actually encode/tag or use it render any of my files just messed around in the GUI.
So now whenever I open iTunes on this specific account regardless of what library I open (my internal/local machd>username>music>itunes) or my external libraries the script icon for that plug-in is still there and I have no idea how to get it off my system, not jsut remove the icon but get the **** application completely off my system.
i've ran disk permissions repair under the master/admin account as my current user account is standard.
whenever I try printing a PDF mailing label from the post or another parcel service containing a barcode on my wireless HP AIO printer, I get the printout as expected apart from the the label area which remains blank. could it be an issue in the latest HP drivers???
i purchased my new macbook air about two weeks ago and last night, i put my computer to sleep and noticed that the fans remained on. since then, ive reset the pram and the smc but it still keeps the fans on. i'm not sure if it should do this and i just didn't notice or if it's actually supposed to do that.
Sometimes, after downloading an app from the Mac App Store, the progress bar keeps saying it's almost downloaded but not finished. The only workaround I know is restarting the computer. The icon remains this way:
Mavericks 10.9.4 running on a early 2009 iMac.

I just purchased a WD My Book 1TB external drive for my intel iMac and I decided to connect it via Firewire. I have another that is connected by USB and when I shut down the Mac the hard drive also shuts down, but with the new one connected via Firewire it doesn't and the light remains on! Is this right? Should the light remain on? Is it a problem for the harddrive to be constantly powered? [URL:..]
I am currently experiencing problems booting up my imac 17-inch, 1.6GHz (2004 model I think). When I hit the power button the machine starts but the screen rmains black and after about 3 mins of this, the fan goes into overdrive! The only way I can turn the computer on at the moment is to remove the casing and use the on switch located inside the the machine, although this is no guarantee it will work, sometimes it does but the majority of times it will be the same black screen as before. All I am waiting to hear is the part in the top corner (hard drive~?) to click into gear and then it's fine, and the machine seems to work perfectly. But this is not a solution and I fear it is only a matter of time before the machine just explodes altogether
My computer has a problem on the screen. After half an hour of use strange white glare that remain in the bottom begins to appear. When disconnecting the unit from one day to the next, but these glosses disappear within a half hour of use reappear. Why does it happen? Will it be a failure of manufacture? The device is 2013 What should I do

I want to keep my school files on desktop two so they are all in the same place, and use desktop one as a place to perhaps save photos or other files not school related. When I swipe between desktops, the school files move between the desktops as I swipe but I want to keep them on one desktop all the time.
Files remain after "erasing" disk iMac 10.6.x. I'm trying to reinstall leopard and for some reason 2 folders and 2 files (totaling 90mb) were left on. I'm thinking this is just preprogrammed files for my HD but just want to make sure this is the case and not some lingering 'infected' files.
I am thinking about upgrading to iLife 09. If I buy the discs and install, do they overwrite iLife 08 or will I then be able to choose between the two groups of applications?
I'm having trouble with my Apple Mail program. I have a number of e-mail accounts (some with Optimum online, a g-mail, yahoo, etc.) Apple Mail has no problem at all reading and downloading any mail from any of the services. My problem is with Optimum Mail (Optonline.net). Mail refuses to send anything through that set-up. I've been on the phone for hours with Optimum and the settings are all correct. I've tried connecting directly to the cable modem and mail gets sent. This would make me believe that it is the Apple Airport Extreme router that is at fault. I've tried restarting it, re-initializing it and setting it up again and the problem continues. All my Optimum mail is picked up and can be read but it will not send anything through Optimum. It asks if I want to send it through another server (like g-mail or yahoo) and if I pick yes the mail sends.
It happens on all my computers a G-3 and pre Intel iMac G-5 on Tiger and my Macbook on Leopard.
Anyone else hear of this problem? Both Apple support and Optimum online say they have never heard of it. Talking for hours with their tech departments have found no solutions.
For the last week I find that after sending an email with attachments that it remains in my draft box after sending. The mail shows up in the sent box, but it never get's deleted from the draft box until I resend it. This is happening on both my MBP and iMac. Both machines connect to iCloud for mail.
I am running Lion (latest ver) on my iMac (2011, i7), and have icloud set up to sync mail (and other stuff) with my iPhone 4. My iCloud account Sent Mail and Drafts are being syncronized between the cloud the iPhone, but not the iMac. So for example, I see 2 items in my Drafts folder when I log into icloud.com, and I see them in the drafts folder on iPhone mail, but they do not appear in the drafts folder for my iCloud account on Mail.app on the iMac. Also, I don't see emails I sent from icloud.com on my Mac's mail. I have iCloud enabled on the mac, and mail syncing is specifically turned on.
I have a Macbook Pro. It has OS 10.4 The mail program will open and the circle will start spinning like it is trying to "get mail." it will spin and spin and eventually close. It will pop up and say mail quit unexpectedly will show that report and reopen box. hen mail is open and the circle is spinning, you can send mail and it works fine. It just will not load new mail.aNy ideas? The mail is version 2.1.3
Is there away to import mail account settings from Thunderbird and/or Outlook Express into Mail? [that is mail.app, to help any one searching later on as Mail is too common a word to search for]. I've imported all my messages correctly but don't know how or if it's possible to import my account settings. Also: I'm in the process of migrating all my e-mails / mail accounts / settings and mail rules from Outlook Express to Mail [Mail.app]. I have successfully got all my e-mails across. I have also managed to convert all the e-mail addresses in the 50+ mail rules, as stored in the Windows registry, from hex into text.
Some of my rules have tens of e-mail addresses which if I had to add in each address separately would be a nightmare. Is there away of block adding in e-mail addresses to Mail? Also is it possible to manually edit the mail rules preference file(s) and insert the e-mail addresses into that? I'm aware I have to manually recreate the rules themselves but that's not so difficult. It's the adding back in of all the e-mail addresses that might be, given the large number that exist.
My husband's computers use Tiger and Leopard (10.5.8) to access his email on the Mail program. His mail is from Comcast and uses the Comcast server, not apple or iCloud. His mail suddenly stopped working a couple of days ago.....as it did on one of my machines that still uses Tiger. He had not done any updates that could have broken the software. He does not have iCloud except on his phone and he doesn't even have a .mac address. There is no reason for the comcast server to not be able to be accessed by Mail app. He did finally update everything that needed it and it still does not work. Why would Apple's change over to iCloud break email access from other servers and how can we fix it. He really doesn't want to do his mail on Comcast's web site as it's slow and awkward.
