View 7 RepliesWhen I check for software updates only itunes and random other updates show up but not security updates or safari update. When i check installed updates I realized my last security update was 2011-004 and I still have safari 5.0.6.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo a while back I had final cut pro installed, and eventually deleted cause I no longer needed it. I used AppCleaner when removing to try and make sure I got it all.
Well every time I do a software update it wants to install "Pro Applications Update" and "Prokit Updates" Which are updates for final cut pro and its related apps.
Any idea how I can stop it from wanting me to install these updates for something I no longer have?
I am trying to install the new updates for Aperture and iPhoto. When I tell software updates to check for updates, it tells me all my software is current. I know there is a new version of Aperture and iPhoto because I installed them two days ago on a different computer.

I can't get the Firmware updates or any other software updates.I have an old MacBook (2006) which doesn't have an intel chip! and it keeps saying this: The Installer could not validate the contents of the CoreFP package.

When do you think that they will next be updated as I want to get one for university but am willing to wait for a little while.
Is there any chance they will be updated before Christmas? But my course I am going for is Civil Engineering and don't know if I will need programs that are windows only.
Are there any programs that can be used on a Mac that would be useful for that course?
My brand new MacBook Pro is showing that two updates are available at the App Store, one for GarageBand and one for iPhoto. When I click on 'Update' for these however, I get a drop-down box saying that 'you must have previously purchased the item being updated.Tap buy to purchase it now'. If I then tap on buy another drop-down box appears sying that my payment card will be debited if I continue. My assumption would be that I had bought these applications with the MacBook, did I not? Why then should I need to buy updates to them a day later?

I have a 15" Macbook Pro that bought back in 2007. Ever since I've had it, it won't let me do system updates. When I click "check for updates" it will try to look for a few minutes then say that it is unable to connect to the interenet (I've always had full interent when this has happened).

When I try to update the apps for my macbook air all that happens is that I am asked for my password, I type it in click on update all (I have also tried clicking on individual updates), and then that circle thing appears to go round and round endlessly. Nothing gets updated. I looked to see if I could update through itunes and there are no apps or updates for my macbook there. I have also clicked on the apple logo in the top left of the screen for updates and all my soft ware is up to date. What I should do to get the 5 updates done?

I am trying to run updates on my MacBook Air (Mac OS X Update/iTunes/AirPort Utliity) but after at least five attempts now I am getting the same error message:

my battery is no longer keeping a charge and says "need service". It never went through the other stages of battery digression (replace soon, replace now) just straight to service asap with no charge.I had gone away for the weekend and this is all i did the last session i had my computer on.I installed the java update from April 3-4 2012 in the software update and also ran a script search for trojans that i got off a cnn article. Usually i am not a sucker for these scare articles but something urged me to believe in it so i downloaded the two files (looking now they are mac applications) named trojan check 1 and 2. The search cam up null, i sighed relief patted my mac and shut it down. I disconnected the power because i was going to be away. When i cam back last night, a 2 hr charge was burnt up in about 20 mins. I thought maybe it was just running out from the weekend so i powered down charged over night. Still no charge. I did the sleep, reset, power off cycle then reset the smc. Still no charge. Here is my battery info. [code] I am almost positive i am under warranty still. It is a little confusing, basically my credit card doubles any warranty i receive. So my 2 year apple care turnedinto a 4 year. I think. Anyway i need to look into that before i can bring it into a store. But i wanted to get as much info as i could before i take it to a genius.

I keep getting a message saying "Software Update can't connect to the update server. Make sure you're connected to the Internet, and then try again." I'm connected to the Internet, so that's not the issue. I've tried rebooting, and using Disk Utility to repair permissions.  I've also tried waiting and trying again later. This is the third day in a row I've gotten this message. Â

I can't install updates. When I do and then restart, the screen goes blue and then to the purple space image. It gets stuck there with the arrow cursor and nothing else. (I end up having to turn off the computer manually.) I've tried a safe boot and a disc repair, but to no avail. I'm suspicious the updates aren't installing, because firefox has started doing weird things and refuses to download most files.Â

Software update 4.0.6 has found Safari 5.1.7, iTunes 10.6.1, Java for Mac OX X 10.6 Update 8, iLife Support 9.0.4, and Remote Desktop Client update 3.5.3.
Have tried to download & install as a group and individually. Have downloaded Safari and Java to the hard drive and tried to install them. Also I've purchased Lion and tried twice to download and install but it reports an error at 4.1 GB and aborts, driving my downloads into pay-per-extra MB on my cable service.Â
Have also tried safe boot and disconnected (home) network.Â

I was prompted to install updates, it was the Thunderbolt Update and Application Loader. Both must be somewhat recent as I applied some updates a week ago. When the system rebooted it stuck on the gray screen. The apple logo never even comes on the screen. I have tried Safe Mode etc. but it never even makes it to the Apple logo. System has been running fine and normally boots in just a few seconds.

Every time I try to update the software (when the Software Update" panel opens up), I can download the software but after downloading it says "Unable to install software" "An unexpected error occcured".....
I have plenty of HD space (100G available out of 320G), and I've tried repairing permissions, restarting etc but I still get the same error message.Â

I have noticed that Firefox has been doing some weird things, random stuff that I don't even really understand how to even explain it. I am wondering if it is beneficial to just start over with Firefox....meaning, how do I completely uninstall and reinstall it? I have read that even when you do an uninstall process, that it keeps things on your hard drive. Can anyone explain (remember, novice terminology please) how to go about getting anything & everything related to Firefox OFF of my computer, then just reinstall it?? Also, on a somewhat unrelated note....when browsers get updates and we install them, am I supposed to go and uninstall the previous version? i.e.: new updates for Safari, iTunes, Firefox, iPhoto....anything?
