View 3 RepliesI'm on OS 10.5.8. I just updated safari and java. Now when I open safari, I cannot get a browser window to even open. Not by trying to open a new window or going into my history and opening the Apple page. This is really frustrating since I hate Firefox (Way slower than safari has ever been for me) and now I can't even use Safari.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm just wondering how many of you like to run your browser windows fully maximized to take the whole screen or have them just a bit big enough. I used always like having my current app always fully maximized but now that I'm using a Mac and OSX I size them down, which feels and looks really cool.

Simple navigation question as I am new to Mac and suffering from PC withdrawal anxiety. When I expand my browser window fully to expanded, click on the arrows in up right, the three resizing dots on the left side disappear. Any way to keep them in place?

My 2 1/2 yr. old granddaughter has once again gotten a hold of my keyboard. I have managed to resize the browser window. Trouble is all of the text is so large that in an open window I have to scroll side to side to view the whole page. The text is also slightly blurry.

Every time I open Address Book, the window shrinks ever so little (2-3 pixels) down. It only shrinks vertically, never horizontally. The entire window is not moving down either. I can recreate the issue on a MacBook and an iMac running 10.5.5.
Not a big issue, but after around 30 or so opens, the window is considerably smaller. This seems to be the only application with this issue. The best way to recreate the issue is place the Address Book window at the bottom of the screen and then click on the dock icon and Command+Q close the application several time rather quickly. Have a finder window or document open in the background behind the Address Book application for reference points. Very strange that this bug is still around from OS X Tiger?
So, is it possible for the address bar "top hit" or "history" to recognize part of a web address if you don't start with it?
For example.
In firefox, when I start typing macrumors, I get forums.macrumors, macrumors....
I opened my safari today and when I was about to type the website that I want to go to I couldn't find the space where you type it at.. I don't know what happened?

I put off doing the software update on Safari... I just HAD a feeling something would go wrong and I didn't have time to mess with it if it did.
So today I ran and update. And it messed up.
Now Safari will "open"... it looks like it is open and I have access to all the menus. But a Safari window will not open.
I am surprised that I haven't seen others with this problem. I have tried deleting the cache and deleting the preferences file. Neither seem to have made ANY difference.
I'm at a loss as to what to do. And I am feeling like I'm missing a body part. I need my Safari back!
My work and Home MAC PRO are both doing the same stuff. The screen goes black and when I have an opened window it repeates itself when I drag it throughout the screen?

I have windows XP Operating System, and I have safari installed, but when I open the browser, it hangs and displays a blank white page (without finishing opening any websites). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but this doesn't seem to work. Also, when I reinstall, all of my bookmarks and reading list are in tact. (although I think if it is officially uninstalled, then none of my bookmarks should be saved). Somehow, it seems to be saving the previous state of the last Safari installation whenever I reinstall.Â
