View 8 Replies View RelatedThe first time I opened my Safari browser after installing Maverick, I clicked on the wrong thing & closed my browser window where you search & the web addresses show up & where you can refresh the page. How do I reopen it so i don't have to go to the menu bar everytime I need to search for a new page or refresh the existing one?

I'm just wondering how many of you like to run your browser windows fully maximized to take the whole screen or have them just a bit big enough. I used always like having my current app always fully maximized but now that I'm using a Mac and OSX I size them down, which feels and looks really cool.
View 24 Replies View RelatedMy iMAC is about 18 month old, and I had a software upgrade notification for my Safari browser. When I clicked on it to upload, a program from dll.ultimatesoft was seen on the screen, and asked me to approve and install. That message will not go away. The drop down box bounces up and down the screen. I re-booted, but it is locked. I tried typing in a different web address, and was semi-successful, till the ultimatesoft screen took over again in 60 seconds.

I don't subscribe to these feeds and don't care to, so how can I get rid of the RSS located in the browser address window?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm on OS 10.5.8. I just updated safari and java. Now when I open safari, I cannot get a browser window to even open. Not by trying to open a new window or going into my history and opening the Apple page. This is really frustrating since I hate Firefox (Way slower than safari has ever been for me) and now I can't even use Safari.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI seem to have the following problem. not sure exactly how it started as my wife was using the mac at the time (she says she just dragged the safari to different desktop via mission control) but now the situation is as follows:
When I hit safari icon it switches on (I can see the little light dot underneath the icon and after right click I can see names of windows that are opened) however I can only see the Safari menu at the top but no window. If I scroll to the right or left to different desktops it's not there, the same goes if I double tap to see the Mission Control mode it's not there...
I so far figured out that once the Safari menu is visible on top of the screen I can go to View>Enter Full Screen and then Safari will come back into the full screen mode but once I unclick the full screen button in right top corner the whole window just swoops into the right top corner and it's nowhere to be found again.

Simple navigation question as I am new to Mac and suffering from PC withdrawal anxiety. When I expand my browser window fully to expanded, click on the arrows in up right, the three resizing dots on the left side disappear. Any way to keep them in place?

I have previously used the GRAB utility to take a snapshot of an open Safari windiw, and the snapshot included the entire windiw contents. When I opened the snapshot in Preview, I could scroll up and down and view the entire contents of the original Safari windiw. Then, I tried it again a few hours later on a different Safari window, but I then got only the part of the windiw that was visible in the browser at the time that I GRABbed the window (i.e., when I took the snapshot). What do I need to do to get the entire windiw?

View 16 Replies View RelatedI'm new to the Mac world, having just acquired a G3 w/OS 8.6. After working on it to get everything running I found that when I run IE 5.1 I only see a small section of the page and I have to do a lot of scrolling up & down, as well as side to side to see the whole page.
I'm well versed in PCs tech-wise so I figured it was just a matter of a setting or something, but I can't find anything to adjust. I thought to go over to Firefox, which I use on my PC, but it needs OS X to run. I tried installing Safari but it wouldn't install either.
Am I just lost in a strange world, or am I flogging a dead horse, as it were?
I have a Lime G3 running OS 8.6 @ 333Mhz w/64Mb of mem. I don't know what version of firmware is there because I don't know where to look for the answer.
When I put Lion on my iMac, browser windows for Safari become very large and Google Chrome windows are immense.
This didn't happen on my MacBook Pro. I've looked in all kinds of preferences and I can't seem to find a way to trim down browser window size.

Basically, my iMac can't load [URL] on Firefox, Chrome and safari. Â
It first happened when I use the firefox address bar to google something. The web page didn't load and said "The connection was reset: The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.", Then I try it on Chrome to go to google.com. The web page didn't load and said "No Data received: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data."Â Then I try it on Safari. The web page didn't load and said
"Safari cant open the page [URL] because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again."

I cannot look at any website that has a lot of photos for too long without the mac locking up. I have tried Google chrome with the same results as Safari. I looked on the forums and saw a flush cache command through terminal and tried that with no luck. I don't know if there is anything like the windows task manager to just kill the one app without rebooting.

While in Safari, I typed in internet expoler thinking I would be getting that browser to use.Immediately the screen said I won a prize and all I needed to do was click to answer a quick survey. I thought something was no right so I hit the back arrow to bcak out and a box came up saying " are you sure you wnat to leave" Lomg story short this bug will not let me exit Safari, all the options are greyed out ( like empty cache, etc.) I was able to force quit, and reboot computer, whne I went back to safari I got the same take this survey for a prize script and the only way out was to force quit.

well i use a second monitor at work. I drag zbrush over the second monitor. yesterday i left in a hurry and just unplugged the second monitor. when i got home and wanted to work some more, but my Zbrush app window is caught between spaces. it's virtually off-screen.
I can see it come by when i switch from space 1 to space 2.
anyway of getting it back in my screen window?
My old work PC had an application running which added a small < button to the menu bar next to the restore, min and max buttons which, when clicked would move that window to the adjacent screen.
Is there an app like this for OS X? I'm really looking for something I can evoke with a keyboard shortcut like spaces that simply moves the selected window to the same position on the adjacent screen so i don't have to constantly leave the keyboard to move windows around.
Have an irritating program that have a portion disappear at the bottom of my screen. I can't resize it and applescript is reporting a problem when I use this sort of code:
set bounds of first window to {0, 0, 200, 200}
What to do? Already tried scrapping the plist and it doesn't work.
