I stumbled on a website today informing me of ways to somewhat speed up Firefox and was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to speed up Safari, which is the browser I use much more frequently. Any tips would be most excellent.
How to increase speed of my Safari browser since removal of Java. I don'tknow why this makes a difference but both Safari and Firefox load all sited very slow. I have checked with my ISP and no change there.
I've got a real odd problem with safari 4. For some reason it is cutting my download speeds in about 1/2 from my server and many other places.
If I restart safari I will be able to download close to my 18 Mbps for a little bit but then it will just start to slow down and after about 30 minutes it will be down to about 6 - 8 Mbps.
Does anyone know how I can download this MP4 video? I tried double clicking on it in the activity window, but it just opens it again in a Safari browser.
When I'm downloading, say, PDF files in Safari (4.0.3), at times it will download IN the browser itself, at other times to the 'Download' folder ... I can't seem to control when it does whatever it does; it seems entirely random. When it downloads IN the browser, it slows everything down, so I want to enable it to ALWAYS download to the folder instead (meaning I can do multiple downloads concurrently without slowing things down to a crawl on 1 GB Ram ...).
What's the best browser? Is Safari 4 the way to go or should I get firefox? Where can I find the top apps for mac users (I am a PC turned mac user so just curious) Do I get a class at the apple store free for purchasing a mac or something?
I'm on OS 10.5.8. I just updated safari and java. Now when I open safari, I cannot get a browser window to even open. Not by trying to open a new window or going into my history and opening the Apple page. This is really frustrating since I hate Firefox (Way slower than safari has ever been for me) and now I can't even use Safari.
I just found that when I download from the net, via http, my internet speed is up to 50 kbps but I used transmission once which offered me more than 200 kbps, which means that my net is able to get more than 200 kb/s so can anyone tell me how how to get more speed on applications like safari.
When I right click some links in Webkit / Safari I see an option to "Download with Speed Download". In the app itself though I see no options for contexual menu items. Can anyone direct my blind ass to where I can turn this off? I've "completely disabled the Safari plugin" but I'm not sure that's it.
Slow browser speed on all browsers, but the downloading and uploading speed are normal according to speedtest.net. Ping is a bit high. Other computers in the house are fine.Already contacted ISP (Time Warner), modem is not the problem. Contacted Linksys router support, router is fine.
Hum I dont know how or why this changed havent told Safari to change it. is there a way to set it back to safari? Only thing I have downloaded is Makethewebbetter for a plug in for facebook dont think that changed it (its a app for elfyourself)
I'm using Data Rescue III on a USB powered hard drive with and it's taking a very long time with my iMac G5... It says 42,291 hours remaining (about 5 years) If I did it on my Mac Pro would it go faster, or is the recovery speed based on the hard drive speed?
I'm on my first mac, bought last week. I'm using the new Safari 4 browser and its slow. Anyone else notice this? I'm an old firefox user but dont want to go back because I like the mouse pad gestures in safari.
I'm having more problems with my new MAC than I ever did with any PC! I loaded new fonts onto my MAC today and now when I go into Safari and browse the internet, all of the fonts on any website I go into have been changed into some ridiculous font! Why would this happen and how do I restore the default font settings?
I wonder if it has anything to do with enabling FileVault. Anyway, Everytime I logout, the default web browser keeps reverting to Safari, and the default Mail client reverts to Mail. I use Camino, Firefox and Thunderbird.
Sometimes I will be using Safari, particularly on Facebook, and Safari will randomly start refreshing the pages repeatedly over and over again without me doing anything. Anyone else have this problem? Any way to keep it from happening again? The only way I can get it to stop is by quitting Safari completely.
I have windows XP Operating System, and I have safari installed, but when I open the browser, it hangs and displays a blank white page (without finishing opening any websites). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but this doesn't seem to work. Also, when I reinstall, all of my bookmarks and reading list are in tact. (although I think if it is officially uninstalled, then none of my bookmarks should be saved). Somehow, it seems to be saving the previous state of the last Safari installation whenever I reinstall.
I can not watch any videos either on youtube or ESPN on my MBP using Safari browser. However using chrome I stil can watch the videos. It was all fine until a couple of hours ago, but now..... I have no idea what has happened
My Safari browser keeps freezing up, and does nothing but show the OSX Lollipop. I can temporary fix this by copieing the CONTENT folder from another MAC to mine and restarting, but everytime there is an update to Safari, Java, Flash etc. the same thing happens again.I am running Lion 10.7.3 on an Intel Mac and everything is updated. Safari is 5.1.5
I have checked "Block pop-up windows" in Safari but still get pop-ups. Yahoo is now doing a pop-up bar at the bottom of the page advertising a new feature. It doesn't seem like Safari is blocking anything: pop-ups are a regular feature on many websites I visit.
