Does anyone else notice fonts in Google Chrome don't look as good as they do in other browsers like FF and Safari? They look cramped and unkerned. Am I the only one? It's distracting after coming from FF and preventing me from using it. Though that's not the only reason. I do like the speed of Chrome though.

So it's made me think could Apple simplify things by making a deal with Google to simply adopt Chrome as their default browser on Macs and iDevices?
The browsers are equal at their core - both running on the engine Apple essentially brought into being (Webkit.) And Apple could work with Google to implement their custom features (Top sites, cover flow) into Chrome.
But ultimately it seems to me it's a bit of a wasted resource to have both companies developing what are almost identical products. And it seems that Google treat their browser as more of a priority so would it be better to just leave the browser side of things to Google?
I just tried to install a web browser on my MacPro, but after I down load the file and try to open it to install it gives me a Warning saying "No Mountable File Systems" on Both Firefox and Chrome! Other applications install normal.

computer operating systems were designed in a age that preceded the worldwide web, Google said Wednesday it plans to release its own OS for web junkies that redefines "what operating systems should be."Described as a natural extension of its relatively new Google Chrome browser, Chrome OS is being developed as a fast and lightweight operating system that will boot quickly and get users "onto the web in a few seconds."Like its Android operating software for mobile phones, Google said it plans to open Chrome OS's code a bit later this year to allow the community of open-source developers to help shape and mold the new software

Mike Smith, the product manager of Google's Chrome Team, said in a blog announcement, "Today, Im happy to announce that Google Chrome for Mac is being promoted out of beta to our stable channel.
"We believe that it provides not only the stability, performance and polish that every Mac user expects, but also a seamless native Mac application experience that Mac users will feel instantly at home with."
The new release can be downloaded from [URL]. It requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later, and only supports Intel Macs.
Chrome is based on the WebKit rendering engine and APIs maintained by Apple, but in contrast to Safari, it offers a variety of unique features such as extension plugins that can modify how the browser works.
Can anyone with experience using the Google browser vouch for what makes it so great? When I have tried it (on four different computers, different networks and locations) a lot of websites don't seem to work at all. I keep running into situations where some plugin seems to be required, but no plugin or fix exists. Why then are so many technology news sites writing such flattering reviews of this browser? Is it really fit to compete with Safari and Firefox?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have had a lot of problems using Google Chrome browser with unwanted pop-up ads coming up all the time. It is a real pain to deal with this and it happens all the time. It all started a few days back when I clicked on updating a Java script for a program to run.
I have noticed that I do not have this problem when I use Firefox or Safari. What do I need to do to restore the performance of my Google Chrome browser

I recently bought a 13" MacBook Pro and I've been using Safari as my default browser. Before I got my Macbook and used a Windows 7 laptop, Google Chrome was my default browser. I still wanna use it as my default browser but not sure if it's as good for the Macbook as it is for Windows. I know both are fast browsers but which is the best one for the Macbook? Should I stick with Safari or should I switch to Google Chrome?

I have an Early 2011 13in MBP.For the last two days, I have had issues with web pages not loading on my MBP. Sometimes I can get a page to load and then after a few minutes of web browsing, the pages will no longer load. I was able to get the issue to "reset" by turning the wifi off and then back on, but now the pages will not load at all.
I tried using Google Chrome and Safari, but both browsers have the same issue. The last time that I used the computer was Friday. I did install a CAC reader on Friday and was able to use the computer that morning, but since yesterday the pages have stopped loading.

A couple of weeks ago, I suddenly started seeing pop ups in both my Chrome and Safari browsers. I have pop up ads turned off in both, went so far as to uninstall Chrome and the .dmg for it several times, cleared all histories, cookies, extensions, etc, etc. What's even more maddening is that it happens while just using plain old Google to do a search. I have cleaned out all old pics and documents via Finder that I no longer needed. I have nothing new that has caused this change. So what the heck is happening here??? I have been trying to track this isue down and can't find a solution. Firefox seems to be the only thing unaffected at this point, but I migrated away from Mozilla a long time ago. I've tried searching Google's forums, but the fact it's happening in Safari suggests it's something within my Mac. I've run a virus scan (semi-redundant, I'm aware, but I'm grasping) and all is clear. Do I try a malware search now?

I have successfully created an autorun (DVD/USB-STICK) image of my bands EPK (Electronic Press Kit) for Windows. However I also need it to autorun on OSX too.
On my autorun image is a portable version of Google Chrome, a portable version of Safari and a stripped down version of our website [URL] with all the supporting video, audio and images. When the DVD or USB-STICK is inserted into a PC, the site is loaded into Chrome portable. This works great!
I am not a OSX guy (though I hope to be one day soon). So I need some help/advice regarding how to make the same DVD/USB-STICK work on a Mac.
I have found a Mac version of Portable Chrome in a .dmg format here:[URL]
I have also found a Mac version of Portable Safari in a .dmg format here:[URL]
And I found info on dual OS AutoStart/AutoRun here: [URL]
Now to just combine them. That's where the confusion for me comes in for me. The main question I have is how to autostart either portable versions of Safari or Chrome from the DVD/USB-STICK? Is the .dmg image executable?
One last note: I need Chrome or Safari because I am using the HTML 5 <video> tag.
I saw a thread the other day that alluded that Chrome or FF were memory hogs vs Safari. I have FF on my iMac and like it fairly well, my wife really prefers it. I have not installed it on my MBA because of the comments that I read the other day. It seemed like someone also posted Chrome was almost or as bad. There have been some spirited threads on how to keep our Airs running at top efficiency, going both easy on the RAM and on the battery life. The general consensus amongst members is Flash with a Flash filter plugin such as ClickToFlash battery life. If a browser is a memory hog will it also hasten the battery's discharge or just sap your RAM? Or would the user never really notice the difference unless they were tunnel visioned on their system monitor whilst surfing the web?
View 23 Replies View RelatedSo I'm brand new to Macs. I'm trying to relearn everything I know in Windows, and it's a bit overwhelming! Anyway I'm stumped by something that seems like it should be rather simple. I'm trying to listen to XM Radio Online. Safari tells me that the required plugin is not installed, but it doesn't give me any option to install it! So I installed Chrome thinking it would be smarter than Safari. Chrome shows me the little plugin icon, but it doesn't let me install the plugin either. How the heck am I supposed to install plugins in these browsers?
