View 1 RepliesHas anyone tried playing Windows games using Crossover Games for Mac? It fully supports Steam and lots of other games. Just wondering as it might bring performance improvements using it over playing them on Windows. Just wondering.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo i got the crossover demo cause i don't really wanna buy it if it sucks for the games i wanted to play. I got an Mac but have a couple of windows games i would like to play without having to install windows on my mac. I installed the game and got the disks and whatnot in and out without a hitch, but when i try to start the game it tells me i have to insert disk 1. So i was wondering if someone could explain how to get around this problem. given that i know very little about computers i would prefer a relatively simple explanation.

But it doesn't work all that well (even though Crossover says it should) I am wondering if my macbook is not powerful enough...doesn't have some hardware it needs or what?

Processor Name:Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed:2.2 GHz

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm going to be formatting my Windows side either way I think, and right now it has XP but I also own Vista, so I could install that as well. Here are the games I'll mostly be playing:
-Command and Conquer (All the way from Red Alert 2 to CNC 3)
-Counter-Strike (Condition Zero and Source if possible)
-Day of Defeat (Original from CS Mod)
I recently got crossover games on my macbook. It works great for stand alone programs, but a few days ago i installed steam and downloaded half-life 2 on it. But now whenever I try to open steam it doesn't work. I would like to remove both steam and the all the half-life 2 files from my computer.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed OneNote on my Mac with Crossover. It worked fine for a while, but now it refuses to let me open any of my OneNote files. It tells me, "Microsoft OneNote has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application." I have tried everything that I can think of to try to recover these files, but, then again, I do not know much about computers.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been meaning to sign up for ages but only now am I getting around to it.Anyway, here is my question.I have been running Linux for quite some time, and am fairly adept at using terminal, WINE, etc. As with most people, I still cannot completely avoid Windows (Borderlands is addictive ok?) and I still use MSN, seeing as 95% of the people I know use it, not Yahoo messenger, AIM or Skype. Which is a nuisance for me, because while I like Adium, it really does suck compared to the real MSN client. And as usual, Microsoft pretends to be nice to Apple "developing software for it" while making sure its products are crippled so people either need to run CrossOver / Wine or Parallels / VMware to use it inside OS X, or create a boot camp partition for Windows. This doesn't make me want to use Windows, it makes me even more glad I purchased a Macbook.Ranting aside, I find the Wine client for Mac kind of 2nd rate compared to the Linux version.Installing winetricks fails miserably, where on Linux it was simple. Also, the lack of a decent DMG file or package makes installing it that little bit more difficult, I've never had good luck at installing things via terminal, even on Linux. My question is, has anyone found a way to install Wine and Winetricks on Mac to install MSN messenger?-IMPORTANT NOTE-I have Adium installed, as well as Microsoft Messenger, aMSN and I've tried basically all the other clients out there. Do not suggest these as solutions. This is about how to install the OFFICIAL Windows Live Messenger on Mac OS X using Wine, CrossOver or another method.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently just bought a Imac and quickly realised that some of my PC Games that previously worked on Microsoft computer do not work on my Mac, so would it be safe to use the software: 'CrossOver'? to make my games compatible and will it void my warranty?

I was just wondering if I could run Tomb Raider Anniversary or Tomb Raider Legend on my Intel Core 2 Duo iMac using Crossover Mac? It looks like it installs, but I can't figure out how to play it? I was using it with my windows Vista partition and bootcamp, but I got a virus in windows and it totally won't even boot anymore. I am itching to play TR but I don't have the windows disc with me to reinstall it. Does anyone know if it is possible to run it using Crossover?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have managed to use crossover to install my PC version of the Sims 2, but I am unable to play the game. When I start the game it asks that I insert the disk, which is already been inserted. How to sort this? or maybe make it available to run without the disk?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThere is lots of coverage regarding how to install software on crossover 8.0, but there is nothing that I can find regarding programs that require you simply to run them, without installation. I try and click them, and for less than a second, an image bounces above the crossover icon, but then it stops.

Has anyone got Microsoft Access (From Office 2007) running with Codeweavers Crossover? I get the following error: "Runtime Error! Program: C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice12MSACCESS.EXE R6034. An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. Please contact..."
View 3 Replies View Relatedwhen I lost my entire collection of PC games, I've gone through the process of making a .iso file of all of the games I've purchased. I have a few games in .iso files sitting on my mac desktop. For some reason, I cannot install Windows Vista on bootcamp anymore, as whenever I try to start up, I get an error saying something like the file "Wmilib" is missing or something, and I can't repair it using the startup disk no matter what. Which leads me to crossovers. I spent my money on it, and am hoping I didn't waste it. Whenever I tell Crossover to load from my mounted .iso file, and hit the "proceed" button, it takes me to the top drop-down menu, where it asks me to select a program to install.
The only problem is that I want to install from my mounted .iso file, and not from the list of supported programs, which is stupid. I've also tried just directly opening the "Setup.exe" file right with Crossover, and that still does nothing, which is very frustrating. Is it even possible to install games on crossover using a .iso file? And if so, what am I doing wrong, that whenever I hit "proceed" button it takes me right to the list of supported software and WON'T LET ME INSTALL without choosing one?
I was told to run Vista 64bit for games, but I was wondering about this Since many applications dont even have a 64bit version out and I dont think games are 64bit, will they all run under vista 64bit? I have a feeling this might be a dumb question, but I just wanted to make sure before I go out and buy Vista 64.
Also do you think windows 7 is better for games? Will it even run games that have not been written for it? Or would I just be better sticking with vista 64 until everyone has caught up and made their apps compatible with the new windows 7? I mean will antivirus programs, ripping apps, etc work under windows 7 without a hitch, or should I wait and just use vista64 for now?
I just got a new MBP and have been doing all kinds of work stuff.....but now I want to have some fun too!! What kinds of games are popular for the Mac?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am wanting to get a new Macbook Pro. I will be running osx 75% of the time and then will be running bootcamp for windows xp for a online game. My question is: will the mac run the video game without a problem while running bootcamp and will it over heat and crash on me. The game is online and the box says it requires 1G ram and a shader .2 or more video card and 120harddrive. And another question I had was will the computer be exposed to viruses while useing windows, if so i will only use windows for the gaming, will this prevent the harmful viruses. I am sure this will work on the mac useing bootcamp but I wanted to ask someone who knew a little bit more about it
