View 1 Replies View RelatedHas anyone tried playing Windows games using Crossover Games for Mac? It fully supports Steam and lots of other games. Just wondering as it might bring performance improvements using it over playing them on Windows. Just wondering.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo i got the crossover demo cause i don't really wanna buy it if it sucks for the games i wanted to play. I got an Mac but have a couple of windows games i would like to play without having to install windows on my mac. I installed the game and got the disks and whatnot in and out without a hitch, but when i try to start the game it tells me i have to insert disk 1. So i was wondering if someone could explain how to get around this problem. given that i know very little about computers i would prefer a relatively simple explanation.

I'm going to be formatting my Windows side either way I think, and right now it has XP but I also own Vista, so I could install that as well. Here are the games I'll mostly be playing:
-Command and Conquer (All the way from Red Alert 2 to CNC 3)
-Counter-Strike (Condition Zero and Source if possible)
-Day of Defeat (Original from CS Mod)
I recently got crossover games on my macbook. It works great for stand alone programs, but a few days ago i installed steam and downloaded half-life 2 on it. But now whenever I try to open steam it doesn't work. I would like to remove both steam and the all the half-life 2 files from my computer.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed OneNote on my Mac with Crossover. It worked fine for a while, but now it refuses to let me open any of my OneNote files. It tells me, "Microsoft OneNote has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application." I have tried everything that I can think of to try to recover these files, but, then again, I do not know much about computers.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering if I could run Tomb Raider Anniversary or Tomb Raider Legend on my Intel Core 2 Duo iMac using Crossover Mac? It looks like it installs, but I can't figure out how to play it? I was using it with my windows Vista partition and bootcamp, but I got a virus in windows and it totally won't even boot anymore. I am itching to play TR but I don't have the windows disc with me to reinstall it. Does anyone know if it is possible to run it using Crossover?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Unibody Macbook and was wondering which one would be a better choice to do occasional gaming. using Bootcamp since I have tried it before and didn't like the whole restart the computer after done playing the game.
I heard crossover is great for gaming but Parallels 5 came out recently so was wondering if it has any improvements.
So I was wondering if there was a place where I could purchase and then directly download mac games, specifically Civilization IV. The only place I know of to purchase these games is the apple store, which is about 40 minutes away from me and I really don't feel like driving out there.

Well I have not played my game World of Warcraft for a while, and I bought a new Macbook Pro on Apr 13 2012. It won't let me download these older games that ive owned since atleast 2 years ago including these specific games, Diablo II, Warcraft III, Starcraft II and World of Warcraft plus all expansions. Because of the new software how do I download these games without buying new ones. Am I able to buy the old software that these games could run on? If so how, and what software?
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen I lost my entire collection of PC games, I've gone through the process of making a .iso file of all of the games I've purchased. I have a few games in .iso files sitting on my mac desktop. For some reason, I cannot install Windows Vista on bootcamp anymore, as whenever I try to start up, I get an error saying something like the file "Wmilib" is missing or something, and I can't repair it using the startup disk no matter what. Which leads me to crossovers. I spent my money on it, and am hoping I didn't waste it. Whenever I tell Crossover to load from my mounted .iso file, and hit the "proceed" button, it takes me to the top drop-down menu, where it asks me to select a program to install.
The only problem is that I want to install from my mounted .iso file, and not from the list of supported programs, which is stupid. I've also tried just directly opening the "Setup.exe" file right with Crossover, and that still does nothing, which is very frustrating. Is it even possible to install games on crossover using a .iso file? And if so, what am I doing wrong, that whenever I hit "proceed" button it takes me right to the list of supported software and WON'T LET ME INSTALL without choosing one?
I'm gonna be installing Windows 7 on my Mini, and running Boot Camp. It's my plan to download some legacy games from Steam (like Doom II, and Half-Life); but does anyone here have any experience with using Steam? Steam appeals to me because it's gonna be easier than hunting-down some of these games on disc. Then there's all that faff with patches and stuff, which Steam deals with automatically.

I had received numerous requests for updates but always click remind me later and I believe the uypdates automatically started and Word froze. Everytime I would restart Word it would lock up. Today I got my Macbook to turn on and was working on it and had the same problems. However now I cannot get it to turn back on and it is very hot. I have numerous important files on my Macbook and have not backed them up, will I be able to recover these files or are they lost forever?

I am trying to run TF2 via CrossOver Games 8.0.0 on Snow Leopard using the specs described in my sig. I've placed a support ticket with them, but they haven't been answering quick enough to my liking; I have an itchy trigger finger, I guess. So, has anybody had any experience with Wine and/or CrossOver that could help me out? For the sake of brevity (plus I don't want to type it out ), here's the link to the support ticket describing my problem.
who can offer some insight into this app that's supposed to allow you to run apps like MS Office et al and Quicken on your Mac, without having to install Win OS
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been meaning to sign up for ages but only now am I getting around to it.Anyway, here is my question.I have been running Linux for quite some time, and am fairly adept at using terminal, WINE, etc. As with most people, I still cannot completely avoid Windows (Borderlands is addictive ok?) and I still use MSN, seeing as 95% of the people I know use it, not Yahoo messenger, AIM or Skype. Which is a nuisance for me, because while I like Adium, it really does suck compared to the real MSN client. And as usual, Microsoft pretends to be nice to Apple "developing software for it" while making sure its products are crippled so people either need to run CrossOver / Wine or Parallels / VMware to use it inside OS X, or create a boot camp partition for Windows. This doesn't make me want to use Windows, it makes me even more glad I purchased a Macbook.Ranting aside, I find the Wine client for Mac kind of 2nd rate compared to the Linux version.Installing winetricks fails miserably, where on Linux it was simple. Also, the lack of a decent DMG file or package makes installing it that little bit more difficult, I've never had good luck at installing things via terminal, even on Linux. My question is, has anyone found a way to install Wine and Winetricks on Mac to install MSN messenger?-IMPORTANT NOTE-I have Adium installed, as well as Microsoft Messenger, aMSN and I've tried basically all the other clients out there. Do not suggest these as solutions. This is about how to install the OFFICIAL Windows Live Messenger on Mac OS X using Wine, CrossOver or another method.
