View 1 Replies View RelatedHas anyone tried playing Windows games using Crossover Games for Mac? It fully supports Steam and lots of other games. Just wondering as it might bring performance improvements using it over playing them on Windows. Just wondering.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm going to be formatting my Windows side either way I think, and right now it has XP but I also own Vista, so I could install that as well. Here are the games I'll mostly be playing:
-Command and Conquer (All the way from Red Alert 2 to CNC 3)
-Counter-Strike (Condition Zero and Source if possible)
-Day of Defeat (Original from CS Mod)
I installed OneNote on my Mac with Crossover. It worked fine for a while, but now it refuses to let me open any of my OneNote files. It tells me, "Microsoft OneNote has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application." I have tried everything that I can think of to try to recover these files, but, then again, I do not know much about computers.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo i got the crossover demo cause i don't really wanna buy it if it sucks for the games i wanted to play. I got an Mac but have a couple of windows games i would like to play without having to install windows on my mac. I installed the game and got the disks and whatnot in and out without a hitch, but when i try to start the game it tells me i have to insert disk 1. So i was wondering if someone could explain how to get around this problem. given that i know very little about computers i would prefer a relatively simple explanation.

I've been meaning to sign up for ages but only now am I getting around to it.Anyway, here is my question.I have been running Linux for quite some time, and am fairly adept at using terminal, WINE, etc. As with most people, I still cannot completely avoid Windows (Borderlands is addictive ok?) and I still use MSN, seeing as 95% of the people I know use it, not Yahoo messenger, AIM or Skype. Which is a nuisance for me, because while I like Adium, it really does suck compared to the real MSN client. And as usual, Microsoft pretends to be nice to Apple "developing software for it" while making sure its products are crippled so people either need to run CrossOver / Wine or Parallels / VMware to use it inside OS X, or create a boot camp partition for Windows. This doesn't make me want to use Windows, it makes me even more glad I purchased a Macbook.Ranting aside, I find the Wine client for Mac kind of 2nd rate compared to the Linux version.Installing winetricks fails miserably, where on Linux it was simple. Also, the lack of a decent DMG file or package makes installing it that little bit more difficult, I've never had good luck at installing things via terminal, even on Linux. My question is, has anyone found a way to install Wine and Winetricks on Mac to install MSN messenger?-IMPORTANT NOTE-I have Adium installed, as well as Microsoft Messenger, aMSN and I've tried basically all the other clients out there. Do not suggest these as solutions. This is about how to install the OFFICIAL Windows Live Messenger on Mac OS X using Wine, CrossOver or another method.

I was just wondering if I could run Tomb Raider Anniversary or Tomb Raider Legend on my Intel Core 2 Duo iMac using Crossover Mac? It looks like it installs, but I can't figure out how to play it? I was using it with my windows Vista partition and bootcamp, but I got a virus in windows and it totally won't even boot anymore. I am itching to play TR but I don't have the windows disc with me to reinstall it. Does anyone know if it is possible to run it using Crossover?

View 2 Replies View RelatedThere is lots of coverage regarding how to install software on crossover 8.0, but there is nothing that I can find regarding programs that require you simply to run them, without installation. I try and click them, and for less than a second, an image bounces above the crossover icon, but then it stops.

View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen I lost my entire collection of PC games, I've gone through the process of making a .iso file of all of the games I've purchased. I have a few games in .iso files sitting on my mac desktop. For some reason, I cannot install Windows Vista on bootcamp anymore, as whenever I try to start up, I get an error saying something like the file "Wmilib" is missing or something, and I can't repair it using the startup disk no matter what. Which leads me to crossovers. I spent my money on it, and am hoping I didn't waste it. Whenever I tell Crossover to load from my mounted .iso file, and hit the "proceed" button, it takes me to the top drop-down menu, where it asks me to select a program to install.
The only problem is that I want to install from my mounted .iso file, and not from the list of supported programs, which is stupid. I've also tried just directly opening the "Setup.exe" file right with Crossover, and that still does nothing, which is very frustrating. Is it even possible to install games on crossover using a .iso file? And if so, what am I doing wrong, that whenever I hit "proceed" button it takes me right to the list of supported software and WON'T LET ME INSTALL without choosing one?
Installed a new 750GB drive into my MacBookPro 5.1 Couldn't get Winclone to make image so I was forced to start from scratch with a new XP installation.
My MBP is partitioned 25%Mac & 75%XP with bootcamp and I have the old drive in a enclosure connected with a firewire. So all of old files are on the external drive now.
After installing XP I have no internet connection, drivers etc... However if I boot up on the mac side everything works fine. (I cloned the mac os already with Carbon copy).
So can I just copy all my old drivers over to the new drive? If yes how and if no how do I get them installed on the new harddrive. The MBP came with everything preinstalled.
I have a legal copy of iWork 09 installed via CD-ROM, it does not appear as "installed" in the app store.

I have a Mid-2010 MacBook Pro running Lion 10.7.3, currently with the 4gb of RAM that it came with. I want to upgrade this. I am aware that there are two slots that I can use to upgrade. My question is this: the spec page for my model [URL] states that it has "4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 memory; two SO-DIMM slots support up to 8GB." Does this mean that I can have 8 total (meaning I can only add 4), or that I can add 8 gigs, making a total of 12? As far as I'm aware, the base 4 are located somewhere else inside the computer, leaving the two expansion slots empty.

ust installed my OCZ vertex 2E 240GB drive
Installation was pretty easy to be honest and I'm a novice with laptops.
did a clean install had to partition drive first then install OSX after doing all that I did a migration from time machine.
Something odd it booted up and my facetime app wouldnt work, got the error message that OSX was to old a version for it to work..
found it had 10.6.3 on it, thought it was odd as I did an install from the disc and my system came with 10.6.4.
so I did all the updates from software update up to 10.6.5 and now everything seems perfectly fine and lightening fast
I was wondering if any has installed windows 7 on their macbook air 2010 yet? I have the 13' base model with 2gb and am a little hesitant on installing it. Can anyone share their experiences please.

Bewildered, I click OK and go into utilities and pick "Restore from backup", but nothing happens. I'm not sure where to go from here, is it refusing to install and restore from backup because the DVDs belong to another computer?
