OS X :: Equivalent Of Windows Favorites Folder In Mac?
Jul 19, 2009
I am looking for the equivalent of the windows favorites folder in Mac. Can you tell me where all the links are stored. ( Like when I like a site I add to the favorites in Mac), where is the folder where they are stored?
Because of problems accessing our network using Snow Leopard, I've started using the 'Favorites' folder as a 'shortcut' to our networked drives. It works fine and is very useful. A colleague has asked me to set the same facility up on his computer. When I dragged 'Favorites' from his 'Libary' folder to the sidebar, it appeared there with a heart icon. 'Sweet!' we thought. However, we then found that when we dragged one of the folders which he wanted to have in his favorites over to the sidebar, the O.S. proceeded to make a copy of the whole folder contents - instead of it working as a shortcut. What are we doing wrong?
I had to restore my PowerbookPro from a back up, and my personal folder is missing favorits bar in finder. I can find my docs via the all my file option, but in previous mac OS personal folder option was easier.
I accidentally moved "My Pictures" folder from the My Favorites sidebar in Finder, and I can no longer find the folder. I've searched "all my files" for a My Pictures folder and nothing has come up, not even in the trash (that I haven't yet emptied). I am wondering if there is anyway of getting this folder back, as I had several pictures and folders organized within that My Pictures folder. All of my pictures are somewhere still on my computer but even they are hard to locate now without them being in any folder. Would be difficult to have to re-organize every single thing that was in that folder.
Okay so before everyone starts to say search before you post a new topic. I searched about this and im confused i saw various methods. I want to have the same library on mac and windows 7. Also, when i add music to my mac library will it automatically loads the new music into my windows side.
I use a HP Compaq Tablet PC at work every day. It's a convertible tablet/laptop. I use Windows Journal to write with a pen stylus onto a notebook-lined template or to a graph paper template. I just hate my work computer.
I'm seriously thinking of buying my own Mac notebook and using an external tablet or slate by Wacom. (or purchasing a Modbook)
Is there any Mac software similar to Windows Journal?
I've looked at Evernote, Journler, Circus Ponies Notebook, SoHo notes, Zengobi Curio, The Omni Group, MacJournal. None of them are similar to WIndows Journal. Circus Ponies Notebook comes closest.
Does anyone know of a similar type of utility made for Windows that expands text through key commands? Here is a strange additional request, I'd prefer that it not be freeware.
So maybe there is no Keynote for Windows, but is there an equivalent? I'm kinda stuck on a PC right now so I can't get Keynote. And no, PowerPoint is not acceptable
I'm a fairly recent switcher from Windows, and the only program I use quite a bit in Windows that I can't find an OSX replacement for is ConvertXtoDVD. The specific function I need from that program is converting .avi to dvd files.
I am configuring a MAC OS X 10.6.5 for multiple users on a domain. I want each profile to have specific applications in the dock along with right click enabled for all users. I am new to Mac's and havent found any material on creating a default profile for OS X 10.6.5.
Where do I find the equivalent of Remote Desktop Connection on Mac OS X Lion? I like the feature in MS Windows where I can click on the "MS orb/All Programs" and all of my programs are there? Is there a way to customize something like this in Mac OS? I hate to go to an Application folder and launch my application that way.
I have lost my contacts.I can see them in TM, but they won't restore.I understand that in Snow Leopard that it is necessary to go to the "Library/Application Support/address book start addressbook" folder in Finder and restore from there in TM.Unfortunately that folder does not exist in Lion.Where is the equivalent folder in lion?
As you know, Boot Camp 3.0 allows the window partition to see Mac files and folders without additional software.
I am trying to set up Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center to use on my Xbox 360.
When I tell Windows Media Player to load files from a Mac folder, I can navigate to that folder no problem, but after going through the steps, it fails to load ANY media.
I would like to add certain frequently used sites on the tool bar. I have been using Snow Leopard in the past and now I can't figure out how to do it with Mavericks.Â
I am really tired of the "Favorites" drop down pad showing up whenever I am entering a search in the URL bar on Safari. Is there any way to turn the function off? It appears that the preferences function only allow you to choose the files you want to show up, and the number. This function needs an on/off switch.
We're using Mobile Me but I can't seem to get the Bookmarks to update from her iphone 3GS. Everything updates fine in Mobile Me. How can I get the favorites from out old PC onto this shiny new 27" iMac?
In FINDER favorites can I reassign/edit the destination (properties) so that when I click e.g. on the "Pictures" link it takes me to my Pic folder on my external HDD instead of the default HDD in the iMac. I have twelve TB of data sitting on 2 Drobo devices and I do not intend to keep any data on the Internal 1TB HDD besides the programs. I know I can remove the current fav from the list and add a link myself but then I get an ordinary folder icon instead of the sexy camera icon. how can I change the icon on the folder.Â
Am I missing something in the App Store or is there not a way to make a "favorites list"? I see so many apps I would like to use or at least read more about and not necessarily download right away. I don't see a way to add an app I like to any sort of list, perhaps an "App Wishlist". When you shop at just about any online store, you are offered the option to "Add item to Wishlist" or "Save for Later".Â
I added some folders in finder sidebar a while back, and suddenly, they disappeared, such as the documents shortcut. When I try to put them back, finder removes it again. Also if I go to Finder - Preferences and try to check the documents shortcut to appear in sidebar again, the checkbox doesn't work. I'm pretty sure this happened after I synchronized my iPhone for the first time. How can I add favorites to the finder sidebar again?
In the Finder window you can create Favorites - folders you want easy access to. Now I'm ready to delete a few of these "Favorites". The Finder doesn't seem to want me to. It seems to want to trash the actual folders that these finder favorite aliases are pointing to. How do I delete a Finder Favorite?
