I have my first mac. I want to transfer my iTunes library from my pc but the music folder does not appear in favourites when I select finder.

I recently purchased a Macbook Pro, and now want to put all of my music from my iphone4 to my itunes library on the computer, I cannot do this, so I have made my iphone a device so that I used to be able to "grab and drop" downloaded music into my device of the iphone, however recently upgrading my itunes I cannot do this anymore!

When I transfer music from finder to itunes I click and drag the folder (artist) from finder onto the itunes window, but the album and artist don't show up in itunes. If I search itunes for individual songs I find them in "unknown album". Why doesn't the album and artist transfer and go into itunes?

I have an itunes music folder with songs and movies. I want to create a new library using those files. How do i add them without copying them to the new library? When i do the"add to library" it starts copying the flies causing an error because there's not enough disk space.

For some reason iTunes no longer sees the songs. How can i get the lost songs back into iTunes? I don't know exactly which songs were lost and my total library is over 13,000 songs.

I've just had to do a complete restore of my iMac. It was acting very oddly, so I chose to restore the Applications and the System Settings manually, especially as a full restore did not fix the problem.
In the process, I did not restore my Music folder and, to boot, the Time Machine backup files seem to have gone invisible to Time Machine as I cannot see them in Time Machine. I can, however, see them in the finder and have been able to restore most everything from the backups. I have been able to bring the iTunes file onto the desktop, but want to put it in the Music folder shown in the panel on the LHS of the Finder window. The system will not permit me to put it there, or am I missing something? iTunes runs just fine from the file, but I'd like it to be in the right place, and not on my Desktop. This is all with the latest Yosemite.

I accidentally moved "My Pictures" folder from the My Favorites sidebar in Finder, and I can no longer find the folder. I've searched "all my files" for a My Pictures folder and nothing has come up, not even in the trash (that I haven't yet emptied). I am wondering if there is anyway of getting this folder back, as I had several pictures and folders organized within that My Pictures folder. All of my pictures are somewhere still on my computer but even they are hard to locate now without them being in any folder. Would be difficult to have to re-organize every single thing that was in that folder.

- I opened iTunes for the fiirst time and asked iTunes to search for media files and orgnaized the library with "Reorganized files int the folder iTunes Media".
- So Now I have two folders containig the same files. One is in the iTunes Media Folder, and the other one is the original folder (mymusic).
Can I delete the original 'mymusic' folder?If I delete mymusic folder, will all my music remains safe in the iTunes Media folder? If Yes, then what about the artwork (album cover image)? I put album covers images in mymusic folder. If I delete the folder, will the cover image stays safely in iTunes Media folder?

I have an iMac that is rapidly filling up. I would like to move my iTunes and iPhoto library to my external harddrive (I currently use for Time Machine). Is this possible or even adviseable? A great way to free up some space on my Powerbook g4. Question is, why does iTunes keep changing my library folder after I'd already changed it when I initially set up the hard drive as my iTunes library destination?
Another question is how do I make sure that all my music files automatically go to the folder on the external hard drive when I download music. For example I may snag a free song from a website and will double click it after downloading and it plays in itunes. I want that file to be saved on my external hard drive as well (yes it's plugged up and plugged in).
I only have an 8g ipod so I have to constantly check and uncheck songs that I want to hear, so I want to be sure they are all in the same locale. And one way I know that certain files are on my internal and not external is when i unplug my external those files still play when they shouldn't unless it's plugged up.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI like to have Finder displaying as a list. It's nice. However, when I try to create a new folder, it puts it at the top-most directory displayed. Very irritating. If possible, I'd like to right-click on an already existing folder and create a folder there (instead of creating it at the top-most directory and then moving the darn thing into place, which seems overly complicated for the task that I'm trying to accomplish.) Is there a way to do this? What about left-clicking on a directory and then pressing some other keyboard/button combination and have a new folder created in there?
