OS X :: Clearing Out ITunes Junk?

Nov 8, 2010

I've deleted a lot of music/movies/apps/podcasts in the past, however have almost always accidentally clicked 'Keep files'. Is there any programme/script that will sift through my library and delete anything in the folder that isn't there?

MacBook Pro :: OS X Mavericks (10.9.4) Mackeeper And Clearing Out Junk

Sep 6, 2014

I downloaded Mackeeper and it told me junk was slowing down my Mac but after it asked for $88 i quickly uninstalled it. Im worried it left a virus that slowed down my Macbook Pro. Even tho everyone says Macs don't need antivirus ware, is there something i can run to make sure there isn't anything harmful leftover? Also what is safe to use to clear out junk to improve how my Mac runs?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Mail Junk Not Going To Junk Folder?

Apr 30, 2012

I want mail to filter junk (including previous emails) and automatically place it in the junk folder. Currently, all it is doing is marking mail as junk within the inbox, and no junk emails are showing up in the junk folder. I tried unchecking and rechecking filtering for junk, resetting (in preferences), and re-downloading all emails. I have the box marked for move it to junk box, but the emails only show up as spam w/i the inbox.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Non-junk Emails In Junk Folder?

May 21, 2012

On a fairly regular basis I finde non-junk emails in my junk folder. In other words mails that are black and not brown and from people that I would like mails from. As they are black I do not have the option of marking them non-junk.

- there are some settings under Junk Mail - advanced, not to put mails from previous recipients in the junk folder. But it keeps doing it.

- also, the mails in question are not necessarily from one company, from hotmail, Gmail, etc., It can be from anyone

- I have 9 different email accounts and the junk folder in question is the one under "Mailboxes". Not the junk folder under the iCloud account

- there is no "system" in regards to which of my account the mail is sent to, which makes me believe that this is not an iCloud issue. It can happen with mails sent to my work mail and also with mails sent to my iCloud mail

- the funny thing is that when it happens to an email sent to my iCloud mail address, then it does not go into the "online" junk folder under iCloud, but into the junk folder on my mac.

On some occassion I have tried to add the sender to my address book, but that doesnt guarantee that it does not happen again.

Applications :: ITunes Keeps Trying To Download Deleted Junk

Mar 24, 2010

I'm not sure why, buy every so often I get prompted to upgrade some songs to iTunes Plus for $0.30 a track; songs that were originally purchased well after iTunes switched to 256kbps for everything anyway. Not sure why that is, because everything in my library already should be 256kbps since I did the massive upgrade when it was first available. That aside though...

In the last batch I accidentally hit buy all, not realizing it also included 9 music videos I once had but deleted long ago when I decided to make my iPods for music only. So when I saw them downloading, I just stopped them and deleted them, problem solved--or so I thought. Now everytime the iTunes terms and conditions change, or iTunes updates, or whatever, it automatically starts downloading these videos again and each time I have to delete them again.

OS X :: Can't Mark Junk Mail As "not Junk"

Oct 15, 2010

I want to mark an item in junk mail as non-junk. I can't click the non-junk button because it isn't there. In other words, the button at the top of the junk mail list stays as "Junk". Trying Messages>Mark doesn't work either: there is no choice for "not junk", the only choice is "Junk". How can I fix this?

OS X :: Clearing Ubuntu Server USB Drive?

Dec 11, 2010

I have created a bootable USB flash drive to install ubuntu on my mac. Is it possible to restore that drive and clear it of everything, so that I can use it to store data again. It is quite a large capacity USB, so I would like to use it further. I have tried to drag the files into my trash, but it doesn't allow me too. If this is of any help, I used this tutorial on the ubuntu website to create the bootable drive via terminal: Ubuntu Server Guide ^ Click USB, Mac option.

Safari Not Clearing Cache Consistently

Mar 3, 2012

Safari 5.0.5. MacOS 10.6.8..I am developping complex HTML+JavaScript. I notice that after a while (~30 mn) Safari does not clear its cache and re-uses old JS scripts. I have caches disabled in the development menu. Clearing cache or reinitialize Safari from the Safari menu is of no help.Only way is to delete the cache.db file in Libray/cache/com.apple.safari, exit Safari, empty trash, then relaunch !

Laptops :: New WEP Password - Clearing Or Resetting AirPort

Nov 12, 2009

My MacBook Pro 17" 10.5 has been working flawlessly for almost two years. I am in an RV resort and their WiFi system has been updated. Prior to that everything worked fine with the old WEP password. However, with the new system and new WEP password my Mac Book Pro will not acknowledge the new password. I know the info I'm inputting is correct because my old iBook is working fine with the new password. I can only conclude that I need to clear every thing out in respect to the old name (The new name hasn't changed), IP address, and WEP password, so Airport will see the new info as if it is for the first time.

MacBook Air :: Startup Disk Is Full / Clearing Up Some Space

It says 12.6 GB of movies; I don't know where these movies are. I don't have any downloaded. How can I find them to delete them? I have also deleted all of my photos except three and it still says 11.44 GB. That docen't seem right either.

When I search my computer, files in Dropbox come up. But I thought those weren't included in my computer?  (There are no movies on there, either.) I can't even download an update.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Clearing Hidden Backup Files From Startup Disk, Time Machine?

Moved all my movies audio etc and stored on external HDD, but as I have lion and time machine it saved a local back up so that when time machine was synced it didn't miss anything.Seems sensible, so next step was to sync time machine, expecting that the local back up would disappear when it shifted to TM. It didn't...why in gods green earth is the local back up there even though TM connected the whole time and up to date?  I've restarted, loaded all updates and verified disk. How do I get to the "it just works" part without having to Delete this double up (32GB "backups") via terminal etc....

Is It Time To Junk Mac Mini G4

Mar 20, 2012

My old 2005 Mac Mini 1.25 GHz is running leopard and I'm only using it to record surveillance videos. I'm using the Security Spy application which still supports Leopard on G4 Macs. A short time ago, this Mac Mini developed a boot problem: It continually resets after the gray Apple logo screen with the rotating wheel or gear. It goes back to the power on chime and never boots to a desktop. I've tried booting to the Leopard OSX install DVD, but nothing. I've tried a variety of boot options with no success. I'm thinking that this ancient hardware is now useful only as a door stop (since it's tool light to be a boat anchor).I assume it's probably not worth spending anything on, even to have its problems diagnosed.

One funny thing is that most of the junk mail I get is not even addressed to a name on my account, just a random name@myserver.com, there has to be a way to filter anything not addressed directly to me out, or a way to stop this period.
