MacBook Pro :: OS X Mavericks (10.9.4) Mackeeper And Clearing Out Junk
Sep 6, 2014
I downloaded Mackeeper and it told me junk was slowing down my Mac but after it asked for $88 i quickly uninstalled it. Im worried it left a virus that slowed down my Macbook Pro. Even tho everyone says Macs don't need antivirus ware, is there something i can run to make sure there isn't anything harmful leftover? Also what is safe to use to clear out junk to improve how my Mac runs?

I've deleted a lot of music/movies/apps/podcasts in the past, however have almost always accidentally clicked 'Keep files'. Is there any programme/script that will sift through my library and delete anything in the folder that isn't there?
Mail identifies some good mail as junk and treats it as such. How can I tell it that it is not junk so that future mail from that sender goes to my In box.

I have 2 email accounts setup in Mail - 1 is an iCloud email and the other is a Gmail account. All the email for the Gmail account ends up in Junk on a daily basis. How can I get Mail to not do this? The email isn't marked as Junk by mail but simply ends up in there.
When I activate the Perform Custom Actions feature in Mail > Preference >Junk Mail, why does the menu command for Erase Junk Mail immediately become gray? All I want to do is change the color that gets assigned to Junk Mail messages.
Since using Maverick, my apple mail is showing all my client folders (mailboxes under my email address) in junk as well (that's 62 folders in two locations). This problem is only appearing on my computer, junk is empty on my iphone? Clients are having mail bounce back to them when they send me an attachment. My trash is empty and my inbox only has a few emails in it.
I have a Mac OS X 10.6.1 I have been having trouble with my MAC Junk mailbox. For a while it worked very well and I was able to review junk mail. All of a sudden, I am receiving no junk entries in my junk mail box. Preferences: Enable junk mail filtering, When junk arrives, move it to the junk mailbox, sender of message is in my my address book, sender of message is in my previous recipients, filter junk mail before applying my rules. What must I do to SEE received junk mail back in my junk mailbox?
We've noticed that we no longer have Junk or Trash mailboxes located in the sidebar. How do we get these to show up in Mail - and will the messages still be there?
It seems every day Apple Mail puts a couple good messages in the junk folder. Unfortunately, it doesn't mark them as junk, so I am unable to mark them as not junk. I reset the junk mail preferences, so it does not "trust junk mail headers in messages," and I removed the envelope indices as discussed here: Junk Mail eating non-junk mail but neither worked, ad good messages are still going to the junk folder.
I want mail to filter junk (including previous emails) and automatically place it in the junk folder. Currently, all it is doing is marking mail as junk within the inbox, and no junk emails are showing up in the junk folder. I tried unchecking and rechecking filtering for junk, resetting (in preferences), and re-downloading all emails. I have the box marked for move it to junk box, but the emails only show up as spam w/i the inbox.
On a fairly regular basis I finde non-junk emails in my junk folder. In other words mails that are black and not brown and from people that I would like mails from. As they are black I do not have the option of marking them non-junk.
- there are some settings under Junk Mail - advanced, not to put mails from previous recipients in the junk folder. But it keeps doing it.
- also, the mails in question are not necessarily from one company, from hotmail, Gmail, etc., It can be from anyone
- I have 9 different email accounts and the junk folder in question is the one under "Mailboxes". Not the junk folder under the iCloud account
- there is no "system" in regards to which of my account the mail is sent to, which makes me believe that this is not an iCloud issue. It can happen with mails sent to my work mail and also with mails sent to my iCloud mail
- the funny thing is that when it happens to an email sent to my iCloud mail address, then it does not go into the "online" junk folder under iCloud, but into the junk folder on my mac.
On some occassion I have tried to add the sender to my address book, but that doesnt guarantee that it does not happen again.
I have several email accounts that come to my mac. When junk appears I hit the junk button. Does it take awhile to train the junk or is there a way to set up mail so that it automatically goes to junk and does not appear at all in my inbox?
It says 12.6 GB of movies; I don't know where these movies are. I don't have any downloaded. How can I find them to delete them? I have also deleted all of my photos except three and it still says 11.44 GB. That docen't seem right either.
When I search my computer, files in Dropbox come up. But I thought those weren't included in my computer? (There are no movies on there, either.) I can't even download an update.
I want to mark an item in junk mail as non-junk. I can't click the non-junk button because it isn't there. In other words, the button at the top of the junk mail list stays as "Junk". Trying Messages>Mark doesn't work either: there is no choice for "not junk", the only choice is "Junk". How can I fix this?
I was just browsing on Safari when I went to a website and this mackeeper pop up ad came up. It tells me that to keep my mac safe or whatever, I have to install this mackeeper thing. I knew it was a virus so I was trying to figure out how to close it but there is no option to close it, the only option is to click ok. i've tried command+w and that doesn't work either. I have also tried to force quit safari but when I open up safari again, it re-opens the tab. i got my macbook in january of this year, i really don't want it to get a virus lol.

I have a mac book pro, and Mackeeper was downloaded on it somehow. Now every time I open Safari, or a new tab in it, there is a pop-up (even though I've blocked pop-ups). Im pretty sure I've deleted the program, although why am I still getting these pop-ups??
By accident, I have recently installed this software called MacKeeper. It has been hijacking my computer since this morning. I am new user of the Macbook Air. uninstall this from my computer!!
Will I do anything wrong by simply clearing out the DNS cache? I play games on facebook and alot of the games are really lagging. someone said to clear out the DNS cache.
My mac book pro keeps switching from google home page to "search only" or "only search" in my safari preferences and if I google something it redirects to use the yahoo search engine. I also keep getting macKeeper and zeboit pop ups. I have never downloaded macKeeper and can't find the virus or malware in my apps, downloads, or finder. Someone told me it was my adobe flash player so i deleted that and anything else that looked like garbage on my mac but nothing has changed.
