View 1 RepliesSafari 5.0.5. MacOS 10.6.8..I am developping complex HTML+JavaScript. I notice that after a while (~30 mn) Safari does not clear its cache and re-uses old JS scripts. I have caches disabled in the development menu. Clearing cache or reinitialize Safari from the Safari menu is of no help.Only way is to delete the cache.db file in Libray/cache/com.apple.safari, exit Safari, empty trash, then relaunch !

I need to populate the bays of my new MacPro 2.66 with 5GB RAM. The stock HD turns out to be a Seagate 250GB HD ST3250820A. I've found them online and wonder if I just should RAID three or four of them as opposed to one Seagate 500GBs or 750 with 32GB cache? These would all be a Raid run by Apple software not a RAID card.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhich one of these 500gb drives is better? I've been browsing Newegg for two hours now reading reviews. The Seagate drives seem to come with bad firmware that causes performance and cache recognition issues. The Samsung drives have a high failure rate. Whats the real deal? Has anyone here had any bad experiences with either drives?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have created a bootable USB flash drive to install ubuntu on my mac. Is it possible to restore that drive and clear it of everything, so that I can use it to store data again. It is quite a large capacity USB, so I would like to use it further. I have tried to drag the files into my trash, but it doesn't allow me too. If this is of any help, I used this tutorial on the ubuntu website to create the bootable drive via terminal: Ubuntu Server Guide ^ Click USB, Mac option.

When I don't need program anymore I 'move to trash' the program in my applications. Is that enough? I know mac is different, but under windows you needed to run several cleaning programs regularly to clean up all the bits and pieces left behind.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy MacBook Pro 17" 10.5 has been working flawlessly for almost two years. I am in an RV resort and their WiFi system has been updated. Prior to that everything worked fine with the old WEP password. However, with the new system and new WEP password my Mac Book Pro will not acknowledge the new password. I know the info I'm inputting is correct because my old iBook is working fine with the new password. I can only conclude that I need to clear every thing out in respect to the old name (The new name hasn't changed), IP address, and WEP password, so Airport will see the new info as if it is for the first time.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if this was asked before but I couldn't find it in a search. I use Safari 4.0.3. When I clear the browser history, the folder library/caches/metadata/safari/history still has a log of the pages I visit. Is there anyway to clear this besides manually. Would clearing this folder change anything on my mac?

I downloaded Mackeeper and it told me junk was slowing down my Mac but after it asked for $88 i quickly uninstalled it. Im worried it left a virus that slowed down my Macbook Pro. Even tho everyone says Macs don't need antivirus ware, is there something i can run to make sure there isn't anything harmful leftover? Also what is safe to use to clear out junk to improve how my Mac runs?

It says 12.6 GB of movies; I don't know where these movies are. I don't have any downloaded. How can I find them to delete them? I have also deleted all of my photos except three and it still says 11.44 GB. That docen't seem right either.
When I search my computer, files in Dropbox come up. But I thought those weren't included in my computer? (There are no movies on there, either.) I can't even download an update.

In the Finder sidebar under shared computers, we seem to be getting duplicates. Admin Mac (1), Admin Mac (2) (when it's the same computer). How do I clear out this list so that we don't have 13 Admin Mac's on our list?
I have gone through and turned off sharing preferences restarted computers and turned Sharing preferences back on. I now see the correct computer but can't get rid of the duplicates now.

Moved all my movies audio etc and stored on external HDD, but as I have lion and time machine it saved a local back up so that when time machine was synced it didn't miss anything.Seems sensible, so next step was to sync time machine, expecting that the local back up would disappear when it shifted to TM. It didn't...why in gods green earth is the local back up there even though TM connected the whole time and up to date? I've restarted, loaded all updates and verified disk. How do I get to the "it just works" part without having to Delete this double up (32GB "backups") via terminal etc....

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Mac Mini Core Duo 1.66. Macs are VERY expensive here, and I know I cannot change my crappy Intel 950GMA video card. So What else can I do? I've read about people using Core 2 Duo processors, which one is the best I could get for my Mini? The processors aren't that expensive here, but there's the fact that a lot of them use different cache speeds. Also, with another processor, could I put more RAM in it, since my mini is limited to 2GB (it came with 512MB and I replaced it with 2 after 1 week). Anyone could tell me which is the best processor I could put in such a machine, since I'm stuck with this stupid video card and answer me if I can use more RAM if I upgrade the processor?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAccording to Mac Hardware Test L3 cache of Quicksilver 1ghz DP seems to fail in some way (Post 16/64)
causing my G4 to hang before finishing boot process.
My questions: - Does this occur on 1 of 2 processors or both?
The test gives no clue as to which processor causes problems - Can I resolve this myself?
Maybe by removing the faulted processor, ordisabling/bypassing L3 cache - If not, which part do I need to replace?
Hopefully not the entire logic board..?
