Nov 22, 2010My Sims 3 game keeps crashing and I read that overheating might be the cause and that getting a fan controller may solve the problem. I have a 2010 model 15" aluminum mbp, 2.66ghz, 4gb ram, running 10.6.5. For some reason, none of the fan controllers (smcFanControl, Fan Control, iCyclone) I've been able to find will work. smcFanControl at least installed and opened but changing the fans rpms didnt do anything (edit... reinstalled, it revs the fans for a second then goes right back down). Fan Control seemed promising but after it "successfully installed", it was nowhere to be found. After that, I reset my smc cause it said i may have to after installing these and tried iCyclone but upon opening stated wasn't supported by my computer so that was a bust.

Jun 7, 2009I had shapeshifter for all of about 20 minutes just to mess around with it. So now, i've deleted it, and it has its preference thing stuck on my preference pane.
When i try to right click it and remove it like that, it gives me a message saying an error occured.
When i look in the library folder, it simply isnt there.
Software :: Shapeshifter Display Of Finder Messed Up?
Jan 26, 2009Somehow I managed to mess up Shapeshifter's display of the Finder. Now, when I open the Finder window, the colours are the default grey and white instead of my set colours. This happened after I installed the latest version of Quicktime. Is there any way to fix Shapeshifter to make it go back to normal? Is there any way to revert to the previous version of Quicktime?

Mar 13, 2009I had problems with Finder, it just crashed on me when I opened folders that had a bit more files. I have an 24" iMac with v10.5, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 3GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. I bought it a year ago, add a month or so... So after I got all the glitches with Finder, I transported Applications, Documents, Music, Pictures and some other folders on my desktop to an external Hard Disk, when I finished with ERASE & INSTALL, Finder doesn't crash, but it's VERY VERY slow, for example, in my iTunes Music folder, I have about 560 folders, and when I click SELECT ALL(on the keyboard) it stops for maybe a minute or so, and then I try to copy them to a folder, when i try to drag them, it stops for 2 minutes or so... I haven't even copied much from the external Hard Disk. Except going back to Tiger, is there any other way, because my iMac is...not new, but not old enough to have those glitches... PLEASE HELP ME, this isn't the first time, this is actually my 3rd time doing a reinstall, 2 ARCHIVE AND INSTALL's and 1 ERASE AND INSTALL... what could it be?

I want to do the same thing for my iMac but I am unable due to (seemingly) my install disk is for a Macbook Pro and not for an iMac.

OS X :: Youtube Barely Works With Snow Leopard?
Sep 29, 2009After installing Snow Leopard, none of the Youtube video controls work properly for me anymore.
Pause and play barely work until I click them multiple times, I can't adjust volume, and can't skip to where I want in the video.
Anyone else experiencing these problems?
Is it a flash player issue?

Nov 19, 2009After upgrading to Snow Leopard a program I need for my job no longer works. The program is Webex. They claim that it should work by opening Safari in 32 bit mode or with Firefox, but neither option works for me. My plan is to reinstall Leopard (10.5) on an extra partition and reboot into it whenever I need to start a Webex session. I don't think this will cause any problem with my Snow Leopard partition, but thought I would check first.

Jun 27, 2009I just installed a Seagate 500gb, 7200rpm hard drive in my 13" MBP that was updated to EFI Firmware Update 1.7. Clean install of OS X and iLife '09 & iWork '09 went fast. It's quite and fast compared to my old Samsung 500gb, 5400rpm hard drive. It was worth the $120 I spent on it!

Sep 15, 2009I just upgraded to Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.1). I have an HP DeskJet F4280 All-In-One. It used to work great under 10.5.x, but now it will print fine but not scan.
If I launch HP Device Manager, and double-click Scan Picture, HP Scan Pro window opens, but I get the following error: Sorry, scanner could not be initialized (Scanner not found.).
If I press the hardware Scan button on the top of the unit itself, the power light blinks rapidly for about 10 seconds, then reverts to its normal state, and nothing else happens.
If I launch Image Capture 6.0(424) I get this error: No camera or scanner connected.
Under System Preferences>Print & Fax>Scan a window opens that reads HP Deskjet F4200 series and I click on Scanner, but it says No scanner selected.
However, System Profiler lists Deskjet F4200 series under USB High-Speed Bus, and, as already mentioned, the printer works fine.

Aug 28, 2009My Samsung ML-2510 stopped working when I installed snow leopard. I've tried the following, after finding others with similar problems (before snow leopard).
1. re-installing the driver from the Samsung website.
2. deleting the printer from the "printer & fax" pref, then adding it again, selecting "print using..." the new driver from the drop down menu.
3. downloading the Samsung Drivers from the apple website

Sep 3, 2009Did a fresh install of Snow Leopard on my Core Duo MBP, and installed ShhMBP to get rid of the whine. When I restarted, I received an alert stating:
Insecure Startup Item disabled.
"/Library/StartupItems/ShhMBP" has bot been started because it does not have the proper security settings.
Any other MBP users have this problem? How can I apply the appropriate security settings?
OS X :: ISight No Longer Works After Snow Leopard Update
Sep 4, 2009After updating, seems that my iSight camera no longer functions. In iChat, the user on the other end had no video from me, nor did I have a preview. In Photo Booth I get nothing but a black screen. The green LED indicator still functions as if the camera was on, but no image at all. I tried zapping the PRAM and resetting the SMU or PMU as well, but with no luck. It acts as if it's functioning properly with the light activating and system profiler recognizes the iSight cam in USB devices.
