OS X V10.7 Lion :: When Insert A DVD Into Super-drive On Imac It Ejects Automatically
Jun 13, 2012
i recently purchased a second hand iMac, everything is working fine on it apart from one wierd problem when i insert a DVD into the superdrive it decides to eject the disk by itself, and if I insert a CD it plays fine. Im on 10.7.4 (os x lion)
Super drive ejects blank CD's & DVD's. Played music CD fine but could not run the system disk for an archive re-install. It made lots of noise & ejected. What can I do to try the re-install. G-5 PPC OS X 10.4.11Â
I have a 20 inch iMac. Several moments after inserting a CD for importing via iTunes, the disc drive sounds like it struggles to read the disc and then ejects it!
My IMAC which I purchased in December 2009 is ejecting the dvd when I insert the DVD into the drive. Yes I have tried numerous DVDs and it does the same thing. What is the problem?
It's only started happening in the last week but my warranty has ran out. What solutions are there other than having a tech guy pull the machine apart?
I have a mate with an Apple iMac G3. There is a problem with it, however. When a CD is inserted into the slot-load drive, it automatically ejects without even reading the CD first.
I have been reading and reading but I can't seem to find the answer. Im trying to figure out if the optical drive for the iMac has a slimline sata connector or a standart sata connector. Reason is I'd like to install an SSD and use an optibay adaptor.
I'm use toast to put an image file on a DVD, but when I put the DVD in, it just spins around for a bout 8 seconds and then ejects without even acknowledging it anything on the screen. Very annoying. Here's what the disc burning says in "about this mac": HL-DT-ST DVDRW GSA-S10N:
Firmware Revision:AP12 Interconnect:ATAPI Burn Support:Yes (Apple Shipping Drive) Cache:2048 KB Reads DVD:Yes CD-Write:-R, -RW DVD-Write:-R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW Write Strategies:CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO Media:Insert media and refresh to show available burn speeds
I received a new late 2013 iMac with 27" Monitor, track pad and super-drive. My problem is with learning to use the super drive. Â
It shows on my monitor and I rename the disc (i.e. Backup 1). I drag the files to the disc folder. Then I eject the disc. When I re-insert the disk it shows blank disk. However the original renamed folder still shows on the monitor with the files and they can be moved to other folders.Â
Info: iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.3), also have VMware Fusion 5.0
Im planing on buying a 27" iMac with the quad i7. I was wondering if it would be possible to replaced the superdrive with an intel ssd for the operating system. Has anybody done this yet on a previous generation imac and how did it work out.
It is from about a week that my Macbook Pro superdrive started randomly emitting Eject--like noise 2 or 3 times a day (the superdrive is empty, non cd on it)Â Â
When I connect a USB drive, it shows up on my desktop, but Finder won't find anything on it because it doesn't get indexed. I'm running OS X 10.5.8 (9L31a) on an iMac G5 with a PowerPC G5 (3.0) processor. The drive in question is NTFS, but it also seems like the Mac doesn't index FAT-formatted USB drives if they were formatted on a PC. Is there any way that automatic indexing could have been turned off? I think the department that had this system before we got it would have turned that off if possible, and I'd like to find out how to turn it back on?
Since aquiring my own Mac G4 digital audio for dirt cheap (£0 ) I've been reassembling the peices. It works entirely, but I have a strange problem with the optical drives. Since the guy I had got it from removed almost everything (RAM, CD/DVD, HDD), I used spare parts to get it running. It boots into OSX 10.5 fine and everything seems to work ok, but upon powering the mac up, it ejects the DVD drive tray when the gray screen shows. It's done it with every drive I have tried and stops me from booting from CDs.Â
Is there any reason it could be doing this? These drives I know work 100%.Â

Everytime I insert a music cd, nothing happens. I checked the settings to cds & dvds, and music cd's are set to "ignore" when inserted. However, everytime I try to click "open with itunes" it stays on ignore. I'm not sure what to do, or what it's happening.
I got a new 1tb WD internal hard drive and I took it out of the box and popped it right into my macbook pro 15". It fits and i am able to easily close the back on the computer. My only problem is that when i start up the computer, it loads for a few minutes, but 100% of the time after about 3-4 minutes i get a notice saying I did not eject the drive safely and all that. After that the internal hard drive is no longer there. I cant see it in my finder, or disk utility. BTW I am booting from my old hard drive externally. What would cause the new internal hard drive to eject itself?
I am trying to use a WD Passport 1T external hard drive with my MacBook Pro but everytime I use the USB port it is recognized but shortly afterwards it ejects itelf from my system. How can I prevent this?
Normal When I insert a DVD or high capacity disc, I can hear it spinning and reading and then eventually ejects the disc. I never get any indication that the computer has read the CD/DVD. No Disc icon ever shows up on the desktop.

My friend gave me his old Apple cube G4 + 15" Cinema display in like 1000 pieces. Its completely teared apart. I tried a lot, but it doesn't work. The original IDE cable wasn't included, so I bought one for 2 cents. It should work or not? Maybe the powersupply. I'm not sure. I don't believe actually that the hardware itself, like the motherboard is broken. When everything is into place and I connect the cube to the powersupply it boots immediately. I don't have to do anything. Harddrive spins and the superdrive makes some noise as well. This repeats itself every 5 seconds. The screen is connected and gets power through DVI, but no display. Both the cube and display have touch enabled buttons to switch it on, but they do not respond (I guess).. Motherboard gives 2 light. DS1 is green, DS2 is red.
I just got an external LaCie DVD burner (long story). It works great, but as of right now I can apparently only eject it by right-click > eject or drag it to the "trash." Is there any way to allow me to just use the button on the drive or tie it to the eject button on the keyboard when it's connected, or even another key command like Opt-Eject?
