I tried to do partition, reinstall OSX. After it download OSX Mountain Lion and reboot, it stuck on the gray apple logo. Is there any step to do a proper reinstallation? right now my mac is without any OS.

I bought Final Cut Studio 2 with Final Cut Pro 6.0 a while back and I need to reinstall it after recent computer issues. It have installed and reinstalled once previously, but now the original installation disk tells me "Could not install the software because there was no software found to install."

I just purchased a new iMac and I had to wipe the HDD and reinstall OSx because of an issue with the migration assistant. After I reinstalled OSx I noticed that I no longer had iPhoto installed. I went to the app store but there is no option to reinstall...OSx seems to think it is installed but it doesnt appear in finder!Â

1. i put the computer to sleep
2. i schedule a shut down via energy save
3. my computer undergoes a forced shutdown e.g. via power button or power failure
if any of these occur i get the infamous flashing question mark, however if i wait 30 mins it boots normally again, is there a reason for these problems other than a failing HD and can i do anything about it

here's the issue, when i open a new tab and go to a website, i then wait for it to load, while it does load, i go onto the other tabs, but then when i go back to the tab that was loading, i get this message/error saying that the website cannot be found etc. as if there is no internet connection. i then click on refresh and it loads up the page just fine. this only happens when i go onto the other websites and don't wait for the new tab to load. why does this happen? it is very frustrating. i already reseted safari numerous times and im still having the same issue.

This airport extreme sits next to a ps3 and an external network Hard drive (see model below). Basically, I want to be able to dump files from my imac into the other room on this Hardrive, whilst my Ps3 being able to access the Hardrive as usual. Unfrotunately, I can only get the ps3 or the airport extreme to connect to my hardrive through the USB slot. As the HD only has one USB slot, this means I can only use one at a time! Neither of the devices will see the Harddrive when it is plugged in by ethernet alone.. How can i make it so i can use the harddrive with my airport extreme AND my ps3 at the same time?

Okay this i7 iMac is barely a few weeks old and I went today to setup bootcamp and during the partition creation, I get this error:
The disk cannot be partitioned because some files cannot be moved.
Er...WHAT? I don't even know what to do about that one, but it sounds suspiciously like I have to completely redo my Mac which is not going to make for a good Saturday.
Any hints on what in the world would cause this? I haven't even barely used this machine to begin with.
Having bought a MacBookAir running 10.9.4 I wanted to migrate files etc from my imac running 10.6.8. Since then safari will not connect and the screen remains blank. The timer spins for a bit and then stops. Unable to connect to any website. Internet connections are fine. Mail works

I have noticed a few times now that when my iMac has gone into sleep after being left alone (usually for a couple of days) that it is impossible to wake it up with either the wireless keyboard or (magic) mouse because both have disconnected from the bluetooth and refuse to reconnect. Has anyone else seen this? The only solution seems to be to connect a usb mouse, turn off bluetooth and turn it back on and then the keyboard and mouse re-appear.

In Finder, this means that the mouse would move around the last-selected object. It is impossible to put the object down and so impossible to operate the Mac. Restart doesn't help.I turned off the wireless devices, replaced the wireless keyboard and trackpad with old, wired keyboard and mouse, and restarted. Normal operation was restored. Tried putting back the the keyboard, but pointing was disabled the instant I re-enabled Bluetooth. Now stuck permanently as if in mouse-up state, so impossible to operate. Fail.Temporarily OK with wired keyboard and mouse. Ihow to return the system to wireless keyboard and trackpad operation?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a imac I bought mid 07, and I got bootcamp to install windows. So my windows os crashes, I go to re-install the windows and it deletes my mac osx. So I try to reboot the computer with the original max osx install discs that came with the computer, as I reboot I see the install cd icon and click it, and it starts loading the cd. And Keeps Loading, doesnt do much else.

I accidentally removed Safari and am now trying to reinstall it from the disk. However, I can't check the box for Safari on the Optional Installs disk. I'm running 10.5.8 on an imac. I have now backed up everything (not Safari b/c I had already deleted it) to time machine and looking at doing a custom reinstall from the "install Mac OS X.app" disk.

I cannot understand why I am unable to reinstall my Mac OS X installation disk 1 after performing a 7 pass erase. I kept the installation disk in the computer because iMac would not allow me to eject it. Plus I needed the installation disk in my computer to perform the erase in Disk Utility. did I erase the entire installation disk?

I just got a macbook from ebay. It didn't come with its original install discs. I know it's the latest white model before the aluminium updates- it has a 2.4ghz processor and 160GB. I want to re-install leopard on it and do an erase and install. Is it OK to use the leopard discs that came with my housemates imacs? Or will they be different in some way?

But after erasing it and performing repair disk, everything is now ok. But since the failure it refuses to reinstall usually giving the message "an error occured when intalling Mac OS X"
For the last few, very frustrating days, I've tried everything I have read on the net: resetting PRAM, checking the HD is set as GUID, erasing and repairing the HD numeous times, performing hardware tests. Even slaughtering farm yard animals. Basically everything. And still it won't install.
I really am at my wits end, and to make matters worse, the genius bar here in Tokyo is so busy I can't get a reservation til Friday evening.
How can I reinstall the OS on my G5 iMac without the CD/DVD drive (there's a disc inside that cannot be extracted!!) It seems to reinstall but will still not save files. Tried to reinstall Photoshop CS2, and the whole CS2 suite and the discs will not load at all. I have tested the disc in the other iMac and it's fine. I have tried all the obvious repair routes - disc utility, restarting from the system CD, creating a new user, software updates, but still cannot get any of teh Adobe sofatware to reinstall properly.

I installed windows through bootcamp and partitioned my hard drive to about a 300Gb/600Gb windows and mac respectively. After a while i decided to remove the windows partition. As I was repartitioning the Hard Drive through disk utility my mac froze and went to a gray screen so I restarted it. Disk utility says that the process finished however it does not recognise the 300Gb I used for windows. i.e. Disk utility says there is one partition, and that the total capacity is about 1Tb.
However the spaced used and space available adds up to 600Gb, its like the mac thinks that it is repartitoned to just 1, but not allowing me to acces that 300Gb. so my question is how do i completely strip back the hard drive to basic factory settings (iv backed up all my data to an external drive) so I can reinstall the mac operating system and repair the drive to make use of its full capacity, then re install from my backed up external drive.
