Started the 10.7.4 install, and it halted. Turned my Mac off, started it back up, and apparently the 10.7.4 update didn't install, but it has caused the Mail function to not work AT ALL - I get a long error report that is auto sent to Apple.Â
I downloaded Lion from the Apple store, but have my Snow Leopard disk. How do I go about re-installing Mail?Â

Is anyone else having problems getting their comcast email in Apple's Mail.app? This same thing happened to me about a month ago and after about 5 days it just started working again.
What happens is that it acts like its connecting and then it gets stuck on "Preparing to Retrieve Messages" Fat chance, it doesn't do anything but eventually stop trying to "retreive messages.
I called comcast and apple last time this happened, they blamed it on each other. I can get my email fine in Entourage and via webmail. My other email accounts with .mac work fine as does my wife's comcast email. It's weird. Last time I even tried on other computers and a different user...all the same result.
I first synced it via Mobile Me and when the password wouldn't save, I deleted the comcast email account and started fresh but it still keeps asking for password. I know I have the correct password inserted because I went to the web site email and logged in with the same password I'm using in Mail.
Can't send or receive e-mail on my iMac through Comcast for about 2 months now. Same problem with all users set up in the computer. Can connect ok to the internet, but can't access [url]..unless I reset Safari, then can only access once. Tried setting up new mail account, but get error message that it can't connect to server mail.comcast.net. Comcast blames it on last apple software update. I don't think that's the problem. Tried changing ports from 995 to 587 and 465 with no luck. Uncheck SSL box, no luck. Reset cable modem box, got incoming mail once, then no more. Outgoing mail still would not send.
Ok, my once a week auto Mac auto update just finished and now my itunes 10.6 will start then crash as soon as it opens. Error report as followsÂ
Process:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â iTunes [746] Path:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes Identifier:Â Â Â Â Â com.apple.iTunes
[Code]....
If you want the rest of the multi page thread I will paste it.
I have tried restarting the machine and no dice. I thought of reinstalling itunes from apples site but each time I go there its says congrats on downloading it but will not download a single thing. On the problems downloading its only gives me answers to PC problems. Â
Do I really have to completely reinstall from my iMac install discs just to get itunes back ? I dont use time machine as I have a 1T hardrive in my imac and use most of it for itunes, even I cant afford a 1T stand alone hard drive just for backups.
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Just did the weekly auto update.
i am using MAIL in mac. i am using a macbook pro and i want to set up my comast.net mail. i set it up before and now its not working. i changed something and now i have no idea what i am doing.
what is the outgoing and incoming, and the port number and all the settings. i have never had this comcast mail working correctly. when i first set it up i would have to "refresh" the MAIL all the time so it would get my mail. i can not recieve or send mail anymore.
I'm trying to figure out the genesis of my problem. Two days ago, I was able to send and receive mail using the Mail app with no problem. Then suddenly last night, I can only send mail using the app. I called Comcast to see if they had a mail server down and they told me it was a problem with my e mail client since I could send and receiving using the Comcast webmail. I don't get it. I didn't change any of my settings and I can send and receive just fine using my iPhone.
Comcast E-mail is the primary E-mail account/interface on my iPhone, but it has essentially stopped working (if you wait long enough, it will finally upload).
Running 10.9.3 and having an issues with gmail. Been running our business and personal gmail thru Apple mail for years and never had a issue. We have also just switch over to Comcast High Speed business for internet. The issue is this.....first thing in the morning start up the computer and open up mail. The app runs but no new mail comes in. I check my iphone and I'll have 6-7 new emails. I'll hit "Get Mail" a few times and still nothing happens. Now the strange part. If I send and email to anyone within 2-3 seconds I'll get all of my new emails. For the rest of the day its seems like mail is hanging up "Somewhere". The same thing is happening on 2-3 other macs in my company which are set up the same way.
When I first installed iWork the document would be centered on the screen and viewing it in fullscreen mode would have the document centered with black on both sides. While toggleing a few settings to try things out I realized the document was now shoved into the upper-left portion of the window, with large gray areas to the right and below. Also, when I activate fullscreen, the document is on the left half and there is a huge gray box on the right. I am wondering what setting I changed, and how to reverse the large gray catastrophe.
Reset my disc permission is Disk utility ...like the idiot i am, and now My MBA won't boot past the Apple logo and spinning cog. In Single User Mode the key problem seems to be. sudo: /private/etc/sudoers is mode 0666, should be 0440 :/ root# sendmail: warnibg: valid_hostname: empty hostname sendmail: fatal: unable to use my own hostname / is it possible to repair permissions in Single User mode?
If anybody can offer me advice regarding how to transfer my email from Microsoft Mail (a Vista program that is different than Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express)?
I have done quite a bit of internet searches to find an answer to this question, but so far to no avail!
Microsoft Mail on vista exports email files to a .eml file (I think) and not the .mbox files that one needs to import easily into Mac Mail.
I have a Max OS X, version 10.5.4 and the old computer was a Toshiba running Vista.
I was sent this MSGÂ your email is still coming through malformed, with no email address in the From:Â There is no reply address appearing in mail I send.
On my iPhone and iPad mail app, which is sourcing from my Gmail, 'read' mail is changed to read mail (from unread) status on across iPad and iPhone mail application platforms. But not for IMac using Lion.
Since I update to yosemitee on 11/30 MAC mail will not connect to my mail server. I have deleted and re added the account, tried every setting that my provider has for incoming and outgoing but the problem seems to be with the apple update.Â
...home directory is full. You must free up space in your home folder before using Mail. Delete unneeded documents or move documents to another volume." And the only button on the error window is...quit. I get this when starting my Apple Mail application. Can't load Mail. I run an older OS, Tiger 10.4.11 on this power-PC. I have 37 GB available on a 152 GB hard drive ( only had 20 available when I first got the message, then cleared 17 GB off...but still get the error message).Â

I am trying to switch my email program from Thunderbird to the mac email program Mail.Thunderbird has been playing up a lot recently and am tired of the glitches.
I have all the correct server settings etc and succesfully imported my mailboxes. The problem is that when I send an email it isn't from the right email address?? Is this a Mail problem or smth to do with my settings? I'm with Virgin media and have a separate set of email address through my website for my business so my email address are through freeola that I am using through Thunderbird.I'm sorry if this all sounds very stupid but I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out where I have gone wrong!
I've just received new entry level Mac Pro. I used an iMac 27 up to now and, and probably for this reason, My Mac Pro seems noisy. A part of the HDD noise, the main noise source seems to be the fans. What I wan' t to ask you is: If I replace the GPU with a passively cooled card I can reduce the noise substantially? or noise is caused by the system fans and not from the GPU fans?
Have been having problems with my iMac hanging which I think is caused by Safari. Safari (5.1.7 )will be working OK and then hang with the spinning wheel. Am then unable to quit and finder hangs in turn and I end up doing a restart with the power button. Have 1 external hard drive attached which is partitioned for Time Machine backup and iTunes library. In attemt to address problem I have previously erased my iMac and reinstalled all software (from new rather than from Time Machine backup) and then reinstalled user files (but not application library files in case any of these were corrupted. Problem is common to all users.Â

After re-installing the latest SN update to fix a M$ Office glitch, now my puter cannot access my yahoo mail. I can through a, yuk, PC. Neither Safari nor Firefox work. Â
Did the 10.7.4 update yesterday and now I have a duplicate mail account with all the same email. I had my incoming mail server set to 535box.bluehost. Now I also have one set to mail.mywebhost. I tried deleting the duplicate yesterday but it screwed up all the mail in the other account. How to eliminate one without messing with the other?
After updating to System 10.7.4, I can't access my iCloud email account on any of my devices (computer and iPhone 4S). The servers are not recognizing my email password, which is the same as my Apple ID password. I can log in to iCloud using Safari and access all of my other information (contacts, etc.), but not email. I tried going to Keychain Access and found that my old MobileMe password was correct (now my iCloud and Apple ID password), but the "application password" associated with my email account (which is now my iCloud email account) had been switched to a long string of nonsense. I tried changing that string to my actual apple ID password, but the system changed it back to the nonsense string.
I got the wrong epost adress in appstore update, It's an unknown adress for me or my acquintances. I've tried to log off and on again, from both the appstore and the Itunes store. This doesn't work. It's no problem when buying apps from the appstore, but it's mayhem when updating my software.
The other day the electricity to the house was turned off with Itunes running on my computer. Im running a G5 Mac OSX version 10.4.11 if that helps. When i turned the computer back on it read itunes library corrupt and the only option it gave was to press 'OK'.
Out of 8000 or so songs, 3000 remain in the library. There are some songs on the hard drive under 'Music' which is some of the missing songs but not sure if its all of them
My question is, is there any way possible way to restore my itunes library back to its state prior to the power out? restoring all playlists and everything!
Since updating, my computer is barely usable. Geekbench score fell from ~5400 to ~ 2300, so it's not just my imagination. I was exporting video and the processor didn't even feel warm, but Activity Monitor reported that it was giving it all the power it had. Anybody else seen this? I'm on a 13" mid 2011 Air with the i7 nad 256GB SSD.
