MacBook :: Working With Some Of The Files On It And It Shut Down My Computer A Couple Times?
Dec 17, 2010
I am having a problem with my external hard drive. I was using it the other day working with some of the files on it and it shut down my computer a couple times. The second time it did this, after the computer shut down, I would turn it on and then it would go right back off until I removed the hard drive and turned it on and it was fine. Now my computer won't recognize the hard drive at all when i plug it in. The light on the hard drive will come on but it will not show up on my computer.
The hard drive is a WD 1TB Passport and it still works fine with every other computer I plug it into, PCs and macs both.I have a late 2008 13" Aluminum Macbook
I installed 10.6.6 on my MacBook Pro 2.2 Santa Rosa model. Everything seems to have gone well until I tried to open the new mac app store. It bounces one time then nothing. I have rebooted a couple times and still nothing.
My mid 2010 macbook pro when started makes a series of beeping noises the load software bar appears and that happens a couple of times before I get a nomral boot
Well by all means the Leopard boot and shut down times are not SLOW, but I found that Tiger was so so so much faster at this. Is it just me or do you guys have this too?
In the past week, my computer has gone to sleep several times while being charged. I'll be working in Word or Safari and my computer will randomly go to sleep and come back on when I click the power button.
Is there a way to set the 320m nVidea as the sole graphics processor for the macbook pro 13, with Snow leopard, or does it have to switch between the intel processor and the graphics card?
How do i take a couple of PDF files and convert them to one PDF file in Mac computer? have a couple of files that are separated, all in PDF format assignments i need to submit them all as one big PDF file how do i combine them
This is not a Canon problem as other computers (PCs) detect the scanner and work fine. This was originally the easiest multi-function printer/scanner setup I ever did.The scanning is easy and worked fine for a couple of months, then several days ago it gave "scanner not available" message, tried deleting the scanner and then adding, now it will not detect the scanner ONLY the printer
Why does my computer start running loud at different times of using it? It is random and not always when it is getting hot. Is this normal or do i need to call Apple to replace my computer?
I am getting a pop up "Are you sure you want to shut down your computer now?".
The one we get, if pressed the power button to switch it off?. The problem is not consistent and mostly I get if left inactive for some time(random). I have run the hardware test(installer DVD and pressing D) without any issue found.
I have a 2012 15" macbook pro and one 27" thunderbolt display. Intermittently while I am connected to the thunderbolt display I am forced to shut down my computer and restart.
Before and since i had upgraded to Yosemite my macbook pro mid 2012 15" has not gone to sleep when i shut my lid i have tried to reset to default in the power settings but that didn't do anything any thing els i could do?.
I am running Mac OSX 10.7.3 and I recently been having issues shutting down my computer with mail running. Sometimes it takes 2-3 mins for it to shut mail down and other times it says it couldn't shut down because of the mail app. Is there anything I can do short of reinstalling Lion?
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3), mid 2009 Macbook Pro
My computer has recently been slowing to a crawl at times, and when I check my Activity Monitor I see the culprit is launchd, which is using 30-60% of my CPU. Anyone else with this problem, and why does it happen? Can I stop it?
I believe that I shut down my macbook but was mistaken and it did not shut down completely. The next day I opened it up and the screen wouldn't turn on like it usually does after simply being closed without powering down. I wasn't around to use it till a day later, being today, and I thought it was just a low battery problem. Now the battery is fully charged and yet it is still in the same state.
There is one light on but it is not bright like it is when sleep mode is not taking place. Also, it sounds like its running; I can hear the fan running but both the keyboard and screen are refusing to turn on. I've gone on the apple support page and have attempted what they suggest, but it didn't work. I don't use any plug in devices like a mouse, the only things I plug in are the battery charger and my IPod.
After restarting when the computer powered up it goes to a grey screen and stays there and beeps 3 times continuosly. Do I need to take it for repairs?
Recently os x has been quitting and I've had to shut down my computer. I've tried to figure out the source of it but I've been having trouble pin-pointing the cause of this issue. Here is my error details.

Is it possible to do this? Just my brother has a habit of leaving the desktop PC, the big energy guzzler, on overnight. Is there anyway to shut it down remotely? FTP or whatever? All'st I know is the Mac technician at uni can shut all the machines down in a block from one machine.
Could someone please explain to me why my computer is shutting down in sleep-mode. In addition, when it happens, the fan goes into hyperblow, which doesn't make sense because it would not be operating if the system were completely shut down. It acts like it is shut down but won't respond or wake up, etc. I re-loaded my system software per the Mac Store Genius' advice, but that didn't work. Is it possible that my power supply is going?
I am starting to have my imac go a little nuts on me. I was importing video from Iphoto to Imovie when the screen went dark and the message " Your computer must be turned off now, Please press power button.
