MacBook :: White Macbook Vibrates After Changing The Hdd?
Mar 20, 2009
I recently bought a Seagate Momentus 7200.3 and built it in my white macbook.
The performance (opening aps etc.) of the macbook is significantly better and the 320 gig are also great.
The only problem is that the case vibrates constantly.
By pushing with only two fingers on the right side of the case (near the touchpad) the whole vibration stops.

I've got a seagate 7200.4 500gb hdd, although it is fast. It vibrates a lot in my mbp. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm thinking of swapping to a 640gb 5400rpm hdd.

This may be of interest of more of you. I want to be able to read easier when the background is white, especially pdf files, or webpages.
I did not find a solution for certain documents, to change a background without breaking the style. I'm using the lowest brightness but I found its easier to read when I make the background gray, for example in textEdit.
ideas for pdf files ?

I sign in and when Safari opens, whilst Microsoft Messenger is downloading, the monitor screen vibrates between Safari and Messenger at a very, very, fast pace. Back and forth, back and forth, alternating between the two. When the booting process is completed the computer is fine. Everything is OK. Any know what is causing this, and what to do about it?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8), 2.4 GHz Intel 2 Duo Pen

I have my laptop which is Powerbook G5 version 10.3.9 Panther. For the last two months the PB didn't boot up and it was beeping three times and white lid blinking. After going through internet i notice the problem was RAM and i need to change it. I bought another RAM 1GB (the old one was 512MB) and inserted it in the lower RAM slot.
Thank GOD the mac boot up properly and everything was fine. I charged it to full capacity and shut it down. The next day i started my mac as usual but surprisingly it beeps three times and it didn't boot up again.I open the RAM cover tried to remove it and replaces it again but it didn't work out and i am totally devastated and i don't know what to do any more. The brand name of the RAM i used is TRANSCEND.

I've begun to notice a ring, roughly three inches in diameter, in the middle of my Air, Rev C, Screen. It is a white ring, a couple of millimeters thick, that I can see best behind an all white screen, i.e. a blank page of a word processing document.

Anyone seen anything like this before. I can actually see part of it right on the white of the page I am typing in this thread.

So last December my laptop got smashed and everything works except for the backlit screen. In fact I can still use this laptop it is just extremely hard since the screen does not light up. The person that smashed it ended up buying me a new laptop so I have this beat up (and I mean the shell is destroyed) laptop with quite a lot of functioning parts.
Now a few weeks ago my girlfriends Grandad spilled a beer on his brand new 2010 Macbook. The logic board is shot so it is almost cheaper for him to buy a brand new laptop.
Would it be possible for me to take the logic board out of my 2008 Black Macbook and put it into his 2010 White Macbook?

I have a 2008 13" white, plastic MacBook. Its a bit slow, but adequate. Thinking of selling it and paying the difference to get the 11" MacBook Air. I've heard it is similar in speed and has the same processor.
The main problem I have with my current MacBook is that its heavy - I need something lightweight to easily carry to school and class for note-taking and such.
How is the Air better or worse, and would I be losing anything significantly by replacing the 08 plastic MB with a MBA?

I have a late 2009, white unibody MacBook which is 7 months old, and I have been noticing that the battery life is getting less and less, and am rather confused.I reset the SMC as per Apple instructions, and then followed the battery calibrating guide to the letter from apple.com, and tonight it seems to have lasted... 3.5 hrs! Hardly the quoted 7 hours that Apple spec, and I am simply doing light web browsing, nothing else.Am I doing something wrong? The machine sits connected to magsafe 90% of the time, but I cannot envisage that would cause any problem, as it knows when it is charged, so afaik no more current can get to the battery to damage it

When I go to front row, all my video content plays sound, but the picture is just a pure white screen (shows the slider to move chapters, etc., but the screen is just white).
Any ideas for solutions? I did google searches, etc., to no avail. I have a MP (not early 08), which I upgraded the graphics card to a 2600XT, and it's running Leopard.

Has anyone experienced this? After doing a thread search I could only find people talking about cracks in the palmrest, which I have thankfully -not- experienced.
Basically the way I'd naturally rest my palms while I type is making for a really annoying experience. Say I'm typing anything (a URL, an IM, etc) and my palms will make a silent "click" happen and before I know it I've accidentally deleted everything I just typed or I've changed windows and made something happen unintended. I'm holding my palms in the air right now as I type.

We have a 2007 white MacBook. It's connected to an HP all in one color laser printer, but we also want to connect a second laser printer. We've tried both an HP and a Samsung, which the boxes said were compatible but when hooked up and we try to print we keep getting a Printing Stopped message, even when we click on "Start Printing".

I have a ~2 month old 13" MacBook Pro (specs in sig). Several hours ago, I reapplied thermal paste to my old (pre-unibody) white MacBook and I am THRILLED with the results. I have a thread about it here: [URL] My white MB runs so cool, that I prefer using it, rather than my MBP.
I would replace the stock thermal paste with Arctic Silver Ceramique, but I am concerned about my warranty possibly being voided. Another reason that I wouldn't do this to my MBP is that my controlling mom will not let me do this to my new computer. If I can get any evidence from any of you that this will not adversely affect my computer or my warranty, I may be able to convince her to allow me to reapply the thermal paste.

So i have the mid 2007 (i think) non unibody white macbook.
Yesterday after some normal usage i noticed the battery had only 30 minutes left even though it had 94% left, also the Service battery Now message had appeared
This was odd cause even though my mac is quite old a few days before the battery was lasting a normal 4-5 hour charge.
after leaving it charging over night after trying to recalibrate the battery(i dont think it actually ran all the way down as it lasted minutes while not on battery power even though it was 99%), resetting the pram, nvram and SMC, the battery now reports 20 hours of life left, but the "Replace now" message came on.
now obviously i would be ok with 20 hours of life left, but its had 20 hours left for 30 minutes an hasnt decreased
Ive googled and searched the forums but couldnt find an answer ...

I'm sure a lot of guys out there still use the white macbook. I have a mid 2008 white macbook(2.4GHZ), the one right before the introduce the unibody.
I'd like to know if you think the white macbook will benefit from Snow Leopard.
Will i notice and performance boost and can the white macbook run 64 bits applications?
I have no idea if it can and how it will benefit my macbook.
I'm considering whether i should upgrade to Snow Leopard or stick to Leopard.

Looks nice, doesn't it? I wish Apple offered the same design. The black is already but I prefer the previous one-color design.
How to see it: Mac users open pic and press control+option+command+8.
It looks nice.

i noticed that my bottom of my new macbook started to get quite dirty. mostly from hands and not surfaces because I clean all the surfaces before putting down my computer... ANYWAY, I thought I'm gonna try something different than iKlear. I grabbed my make-up remover. NOT to mistaken for nail polish remover. Make-up remover doesn't have any harsh chemicals. and OH MY GOD, it worked so well. So use make-up remover on a soft cloth or cotton pads, that's what i use, to clean your bottom case! I would like to hear what you all think of this I've been doing it since about a week after getting my Macbook. The only spots I cannot remove is the the four corners. I don't think there is away around those pressure spots.

I just bought a uni MB...I put in 500GB internal HD. Does this void my warranty?
Also, I bought 2 of these....the one w/ the HD replaced,...when I put a cd/dvd in the drive it vibrates the whole laptop.
The other MB is fine....I never put a disc in the one I change prior to changing HD, but I know I didn't do anything wrong, I followed instructions came with the new MB!

have a three year old white macbook, never had any problems with anything until I left it in my car overnight last week (which I've done before without incident). Now my battery won't charge but the laptop works when its plugged into the power supply. I swapped batteries with my brothers laptop and his battery works fine in my laptop, so the battery is the problem.
Anyone ever heard of this happening before? Is this just a case of new battery or is there some way of fixing it?

I'll be buying a new laptop at the end of this year, and I was originally planning on buying a 13" Macbook Pro base model. But I've decided that it doesn't offer that much better specs than the standard Macbook, but I wouldn't mind spending the extra money if need be. I love the 13" screen size so that isn't an issue. But is the current white Macbook viable? Are there any planned future updates? Also I was wondering how long you think it will last me. It will have a normal amount of usage with; web browsing, word processing, photo/ light video editing and music. I'd like to get at least 5 years out of it
