When I go to front row, all my video content plays sound, but the picture is just a pure white screen (shows the slider to move chapters, etc., but the screen is just white).
Any ideas for solutions? I did google searches, etc., to no avail. I have a MP (not early 08), which I upgraded the graphics card to a 2600XT, and it's running Leopard.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got a G5 1.8 Dual and have an S-Video connector I would like to run to my 720p tv to view my itunes movies. I am using the s-video in on my HK receiver. The picture is pretty sharp, but it is in black and white. I am running 10.5.8, and I have the same problem when I connect my MBP running 10.6. ?
No worries. A direct connect to tv solves the problem.

The second time I did this it just sits with a white screen and give three loud beeps over and over. Is there a fix for this? Is it my ram? I'm at a loss.

I'm having a rather annoying problem playing videos on itunes. Instead of the video, I'm getting a white screen with sound. In full screen mode, I'm getting a blank screen, also with sound but no controls pop up when I move the mouse around. I'm getting this with episodes of Lost I downloaded from the itunes store (as well as previews on the itunes store), as well as the "Jake and Amir" podcast. Curiously, if I open the Jake and Amir podcast in VLC it runs fine, but if I try the Lost episodes in VLC they come out without sound OR video. The Onion podcast, on the other hand, works just fine in itunes. This problem, I think, only goes back to when I got the latest version of Itunes.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got an early 2008 Mac Pro, and when I now run at the native resolution on my monitor, the color seems almost too white. Lettering gets washed out a bit (like writing text on this forum post). The white bleeds over everything. If I take a screen shot and look at it on a different mac, it looks fine - so there's something wrong with my video drivers. I can boot the machine into a Snow Leopard build and everything looks fine, but back in my main Leopard build, it doesn't. Is there any way to re-apply video drivers?

yesterday i left a file download in firefox for 5 hours then went back to check on it , it was working FINE, Then i got Back after 2 minutes and the screen is suddenly white and not showing anything i shut down the laptop and restarted , there was a chime and just white screen...i connected the laptop to an external monitor AND EVERYTHING IS WORKING on the external screen but the laptop screen is white!
there are two things that the macbook is doing to me. one is that sometimes when i move the screen up or down (the hinge is rather stiff) a white (thin) line flashes across the screen. but recently, while randomly browsing through the internet, the screen almost... i guess faded to a gray screen, but like gradually, and not like a kernel error, like the display just faded away. happened twice in a row, did a battery pull and now wont do it again.

-Launch browser (same behaviour with Firefox, Safari, Opera)
-Watch video
-Video behaviour gets jumpy
-Spinning pizza wheel arrives
-Browser crashes
I have tried a reinstalling Snow Leopard, disabling the browser add-ons, running the browsers in safe mode and I get the same pattern of results. I guess it is a hardware fault but I do not know how to identify the fault. System Profiler tells me my RAM status is "OK" and there are no obvious faults anywhere else in system profiler.
I am trying to play a DVD on my MacBook using the TV as a monitor. The TV doesn't have a VGA port and my MacBook only has USB, FireWire and Mini-DVI. The TV only has HDMI, S-video, RCA.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to reformat my MBP and I think I'm having a little trouble. This is the first time I've reformatted a mac. I put the OS X disk in, went into disk utility and did the erase. I then restarted, again booting on the disc and I've seen nothing but a white screen for the past 2 1/2 hours. The optical drive is making noises like it is reading, but I'm not sure if it can't read from the disk or it is actually formatting.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Macbook Pro late 2010 model and it suddely gets a white screen and the only way to fix it is to restart it. After about an hour of working the white screen comes back. I re-installed snow lepord (not clean install) and that seemed to fix it for about a day but i just got another white screen , any suggestions into fixing this or finding out the cause would be great as the closest apple store is about an hour away and no that accessible. I dont have to be touching the computer for it to do it which makes me think its not the logic board.

I've tried revolting it, it works sometimes but now its stuck at the starting screen. I have been at this for 2 hours to try and fix it but nothing has changed about the screen.

Now, on every restart I get the same *but only when* my USB ext HDD is plugged in; unplug it & it starts fine, plug HDD in and it mounts, checked external HDD with disk utility - AOK. Never had this problem with my old 20" iMac! It's still in DoA period so is it best to get it swapped out?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI ran software update and got (iPhoto, itunes, Security patch) so I ran it and downloaded everything except the Intel Security Patch. So I restarted and decided to try again. Restart didn't work as it got stuck and I had to reach around and restart by holding down the power button. When it came back up, I got the white screen with the grey apple logo and the spinning clock like icon..... spinning and that is where I am stuck, left it off all night and tried it in the morning, same thing.
I did try:
-resetting pram (nothing happened)
-restart in safe mode, holding down shift key (nothing, stuck on screen)
I would try to start up from the OSX disk except I have a DVD in the machine. I am thinking it was that security update that didn't download fully that is doing this but how do I get the imac, "unstuck"? or how do I manually eject that DVD to put in a OSX start up disk?
This morning I noticed a soft white spot on the lower left corner of my Macbook. It's not a dead pixel. I've seen those before and this is different. This spot only shows up as a light spot when the screen has a light background. On a darker screen it totally disappears. The spot is a few mm in size and. I've examined the top of the LCD case and it's smooth. The Macbook has not been dropped in anyway.
View 23 Replies View RelatedI bought a MacBook Pro Unibody a month ago. I had the stock 250GB HDD inside of it. I replaced it with a 320GB WD HDD. The screen was white after powering on, and wouldn't get past that stage. I put it inside an external enclosure and strangely it booted up and allowed me to install Snow Leopard. I took it to the shop and they said the hard drive was faulty ?!? so I'm looking at it now and it's working cause i'm writing this post now.
The question I have is in regards to returning to the store tomorrow. Should I leave the inside of the Mac hard drive less and carry the hard drive with me in the enclosure tomorrow? Or should I leave the hard drive inside the computer and then have them open it up and diagnose the drive? I am looking for the quickest way possible. I wasn't sure how apple would look if I brought the computer in without the drive... I just want to show them how crap of a job they did and show them the drive works fine.
I installed 10.6.2 a little while ago - said it was successful and then began startup loading.....then screen went white and it hung. Waited and waited....finally gave up and turned it off, then on. This time it came up correctly, but had to detect second display, and also reset output speaker. Did same update on macbook pro with no issues.

What has happened I think is that it was run flat. I have though charged the batteries up to two green lights on the battery.
It's making hard drive noises but sits on the white screen.
Any ideas. This is my main work machine and I rely on it.
