I was curious if a stress/pressure crack would be covered under apple care. This computer has never been opened but i looked on the side and where the screw is located it has cracked. I attached a Picture. Let me know your thoughts.
So on my Macbook C2D 2.16, 2 gig ram ,7200 rpm hd, superdrive GMA950 (not that it matters but I know how we all like specs round here ^^) I have developed a lovely little crack in the palmrest
Now I don't mind looking at it one bit but in the long term will I have any problems by not getting it fixed? (eg catches having nothing to sit on so keyboard scratches screen).
My sister owns a white macbook (late 2007) and she has gotten cracks both on the bottom case and the display bezel, i know apple will cover and replace the bottom case but will they cover the replacement of the display bezel? the cracks on it are exactly the same as the ones people have been getting on the bottom case.
My Macbook has the infamous crack on the palm rest, I've made a reservation at a genius bar. Could anyone tell me what has happened with their macbook when going to get this sorted? Will they have to take it away and if so how will i get back? I've heard that sometimes people have got their macs back with blank drives, I'm guessing it would be best to make a back up. Its quite an inconvenience for me not to have my Macbook during the week, is there anyway they can do this in one day?
I already made an appointment at my local Apple Store. The screen still works fine (im using my laptop right now), so I think it's just the glass outter part of the screen. Am I out of luck here?
At the airport I managed to drop my computer bag and the screen on my unibody 15" MBP is cracked (2.4 GHz Core 2). It seems it is only the glass lens that is cracked, the screen works fine.
My questions are:
1. How much would Apple charge to repair (UK)? The MBP is less than one year old and I have Applecare but I know accidental damage is not covered
2. If I go with a third party repair, would that void my warranty?
3. Is this something I could do myself if I bought a glass screen on eBay? I am fairly good with this stuff but again would I void my warranty?
Can it be real, that on my new MacBook Pro Retina display I have a little scratch/crack in the glass out of the box?You can only see it if you have light (e.g withe) background on the display.
My turn for this situation. I spilled coffee on myself the other day. I was using my MacBook at the time. About 15mL got on the trackpad and I think it fell in the crack. The trackpad still clicks down, it just doesn't respond. is there anything I can do? it's a Unibody MacBook 2GHz.
When i bought my macbook, it has a small crack on the lower right hand corner about 2-3 inches away from the trackpad, ive tried to find a new piece, i think its called a bottom bezzel? I may have that wrong, but does anyone know where i can get a new piece from? The crack isnt major or anything, just a little annoying. I dont need the bottom piece, just the gray part that goes over the keyboard If anyone knows where i can get one,
I have a small crack on the screen of my MacBook. It has not affected the LCD at all, just the glass. I would like to get the glass replaced, does anyone know about how much this would cost (USA) through the Apple store? At this point I'm not sure if I should just purchase a new MacBook, or replace the screen.
I've begun to notice a ring, roughly three inches in diameter, in the middle of my Air, Rev C, Screen. It is a white ring, a couple of millimeters thick, that I can see best behind an all white screen, i.e. a blank page of a word processing document.

Anyone seen anything like this before. I can actually see part of it right on the white of the page I am typing in this thread.
I own a MacBook Pro 17" with the Hi-Res screen (True HD 1900x1200). I would really, really like to rent HD movies from the iTunes store instead of the normal resolution versions (although they are probably not true HD...) - but, as we all know, this unfortunately only works with AppleTV. (Stupid!) Do you think it is possible that somebody could write an iTunes crack, hack or whatever it is called to simulate that the rental is made with an AppleTV although I'm on a computer? If yes, this would be a kick-ass program.
So last December my laptop got smashed and everything works except for the backlit screen. In fact I can still use this laptop it is just extremely hard since the screen does not light up. The person that smashed it ended up buying me a new laptop so I have this beat up (and I mean the shell is destroyed) laptop with quite a lot of functioning parts.
Now a few weeks ago my girlfriends Grandad spilled a beer on his brand new 2010 Macbook. The logic board is shot so it is almost cheaper for him to buy a brand new laptop.
Would it be possible for me to take the logic board out of my 2008 Black Macbook and put it into his 2010 White Macbook?
Is the white one the same size as the 13" aluminum that now went pro?Pretty much, I want to know if I buy a case for the original 13" Metal uMB from InCase, will it fit on this plastic one? They don't have blue for this, but they have blue for the original aluminum one.
I have a 2008 13" white, plastic MacBook. Its a bit slow, but adequate. Thinking of selling it and paying the difference to get the 11" MacBook Air. I've heard it is similar in speed and has the same processor. The main problem I have with my current MacBook is that its heavy - I need something lightweight to easily carry to school and class for note-taking and such.
How is the Air better or worse, and would I be losing anything significantly by replacing the 08 plastic MB with a MBA?
I have a late 2009, white unibody MacBook which is 7 months old, and I have been noticing that the battery life is getting less and less, and am rather confused.I reset the SMC as per Apple instructions, and then followed the battery calibrating guide to the letter from apple.com, and tonight it seems to have lasted... 3.5 hrs! Hardly the quoted 7 hours that Apple spec, and I am simply doing light web browsing, nothing else.Am I doing something wrong? The machine sits connected to magsafe 90% of the time, but I cannot envisage that would cause any problem, as it knows when it is charged, so afaik no more current can get to the battery to damage it
When I go to front row, all my video content plays sound, but the picture is just a pure white screen (shows the slider to move chapters, etc., but the screen is just white).
Any ideas for solutions? I did google searches, etc., to no avail. I have a MP (not early 08), which I upgraded the graphics card to a 2600XT, and it's running Leopard.
How good is the realistic battery life of the base MacBook White 2009 for both playing a game on Windows Boot Camp and just browsing the internet over WiFi?
Has anyone experienced this? After doing a thread search I could only find people talking about cracks in the palmrest, which I have thankfully -not- experienced.
Basically the way I'd naturally rest my palms while I type is making for a really annoying experience. Say I'm typing anything (a URL, an IM, etc) and my palms will make a silent "click" happen and before I know it I've accidentally deleted everything I just typed or I've changed windows and made something happen unintended. I'm holding my palms in the air right now as I type.
We have a 2007 white MacBook. It's connected to an HP all in one color laser printer, but we also want to connect a second laser printer. We've tried both an HP and a Samsung, which the boxes said were compatible but when hooked up and we try to print we keep getting a Printing Stopped message, even when we click on "Start Printing".
My white macbook died because of the power supply. My aluminum macbook died because of the logic board. Is it possible to swap my white macbook logic board for the aluminum one?
I have a ~2 month old 13" MacBook Pro (specs in sig). Several hours ago, I reapplied thermal paste to my old (pre-unibody) white MacBook and I am THRILLED with the results. I have a thread about it here: [URL] My white MB runs so cool, that I prefer using it, rather than my MBP.
I would replace the stock thermal paste with Arctic Silver Ceramique, but I am concerned about my warranty possibly being voided. Another reason that I wouldn't do this to my MBP is that my controlling mom will not let me do this to my new computer. If I can get any evidence from any of you that this will not adversely affect my computer or my warranty, I may be able to convince her to allow me to reapply the thermal paste.
So i have the mid 2007 (i think) non unibody white macbook.
Yesterday after some normal usage i noticed the battery had only 30 minutes left even though it had 94% left, also the Service battery Now message had appeared
This was odd cause even though my mac is quite old a few days before the battery was lasting a normal 4-5 hour charge.
after leaving it charging over night after trying to recalibrate the battery(i dont think it actually ran all the way down as it lasted minutes while not on battery power even though it was 99%), resetting the pram, nvram and SMC, the battery now reports 20 hours of life left, but the "Replace now" message came on.
now obviously i would be ok with 20 hours of life left, but its had 20 hours left for 30 minutes an hasnt decreased
Ive googled and searched the forums but couldnt find an answer ...
