Aug 14, 2010Can I use the magsafe connector from my 2007 MacBook Pro 15" with my 2010 (i7) MacBook Pro 17"? They are both 85W, but I purchased my 2010 MBP in Europe and thought it would be easier to use the connector from my US purchased 2007 MBP while in US so I don't have to use and adapter.

What I see the most is version 3 topcase on ebay etc. I don't mind to have a bit more modern part on my macbook Will this v3 topcase fit/work at all? Can somebody confirm? I heard that media control buttons will work only with 10.6 which is fine.

Dec 28, 2009Since then I've replaced the HDD, NIC, and a cracked topcase, which is now cracked again - I'm careful with it, but strong magnets + plastic + time = crack. It's not my primary computer, but it's still nice to bring to school with me.So my question is, does anyone make an aluminum replacement case and topcase for the plastic macbook? Only the topcase is damaged but after however many years with the same laptop I'd like a change (not a huge fan of plastic in the first place).

Nov 14, 2009I realize this probably wouldn't work due to the different smc controllers, but I'm wondering if the nice quieter 17'' mbp cooling fans would fit in the 15'' mbp's. Does anyone know if the fan sizes are the same? I know that the model #'s are only one letter off. The 17' mbp fans are quieter than the 15 due to having fewer blades(?) or a different design, and I think they actually spin at a lower speed. This would probably be super dangerous as the 17'' fans might not be compatible with or do a good enough job of cooling the 15'' mbp effectively, but it would be a cool mod. Anyone have info on the feasibility?

Oct 30, 2010I have the Black Macbook 13" (from mid 2007). Model A1181. I think it was the 2.16Ghz, 160GB. OSX 10.4. I need help finding what Logic boards work with my Mac. Mine is broken and I need to replace. I will be looking at used or at least ones on ebay to minimize the cost. From the research that I have done. It looks like I can used any of the following:
661-5033 2.4GHz
661-4397 2.16GHz Black
661-4220 2.0 GHz black
*update* Upon further review I believe that I have found the Logic Board number. On the board itself it lists 820-1889-A? Sound correct. I do get hits when I google it. I guess my question is what is interchangeable with this?

Jun 1, 2009I had an initial thread in Mac Software as I initially thought it was just a Safari 4 Beta issue.(Original thread here)But since then, it's spread from Safari 4 to my trash can and now to Numbers and Pages (It has not done anything to Keynote), the bottom panel (but not the top one) in Yahoo messenger... Even the silver navigation bar on the Apple website shows up as this weird metallic brown.What's even weirder is that the trash can is the normal silver metallic when the OS first loads and then changes to the brownish one. No amount of messing with display settings helps. Resetting the NVRAM initially got everything back to normal, but then boom, it's all stuck.

Jan 1, 2011I am reassembling a PowerBook G3 Bronze Keyboard. I think I have everything I need.but I don't know if I have the correct hard drive. Will an 80gb hard drive work?? because I thought that they are only capable of 6gb hard drives, or is that the default controller for the Blue & White Power Macintosh Desktop?? And also am I correct in thinking that if this hard drive will work for this Bronze Keyboard, I will have to partition it for every OS I have on it. ?? Because the operating system has to be in the first 10gb of the volume, or the files might become "lost" and the operating system unusable?

According to this guy, the shaft needs to be at least 20 centimeters, or about 8 inches. I'm not having much luck. Jul 3, 2008My mac was acting real slow to boot up after being shutdown and then finaly last weekend it just wouldn't boot up. The power light at front comes on, as does the fan and the red light on the logic board But that's all that happens. Have tried the PMU button and zapping the pram but it won't even chime once.
Haven't replaced the battery as I thought that defaults to 1904 date ( like it did on the old 8500's etc)
Took the whole puter apart and cleaned it. The fuse does not look broken in the power supply.
Any ideas on how to test the Power supply? And what should I do next?

However, the sound is rather tinny compared to my old headset that I used on my PC. Are there any connectors I could buy where I could use my old rca headset and have a usb plug for my iMac? Even if there is such a connector, will it work, or sound any different? Just wish I could plug in the headset and mic directly into the Mac.

Dec 29, 2010I bought a PCIe eSATA card for my Mac Pro and have installed it, and the system sees it and I'm able to install drivers, but disks aren't showing up when i plug them in.
There is a 4pin power connector on the board as well, but I think that's just so it can power external devices via the 2 power plugs it has on the back.
Are there extra 4pin power cables inside the tower, or a place for me to plug some more in?
