Can I use the magsafe connector from my 2007 MacBook Pro 15" with my 2010 (i7) MacBook Pro 17"? They are both 85W, but I purchased my 2010 MBP in Europe and thought it would be easier to use the connector from my US purchased 2007 MBP while in US so I don't have to use and adapter.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI realize this probably wouldn't work due to the different smc controllers, but I'm wondering if the nice quieter 17'' mbp cooling fans would fit in the 15'' mbp's. Does anyone know if the fan sizes are the same? I know that the model #'s are only one letter off. The 17' mbp fans are quieter than the 15 due to having fewer blades(?) or a different design, and I think they actually spin at a lower speed. This would probably be super dangerous as the 17'' fans might not be compatible with or do a good enough job of cooling the 15'' mbp effectively, but it would be a cool mod. Anyone have info on the feasibility?

I have the Black Macbook 13" (from mid 2007). Model A1181. I think it was the 2.16Ghz, 160GB. OSX 10.4. I need help finding what Logic boards work with my Mac. Mine is broken and I need to replace. I will be looking at used or at least ones on ebay to minimize the cost. From the research that I have done. It looks like I can used any of the following:

*update* Upon further review I believe that I have found the Logic Board number. On the board itself it lists 820-1889-A? Sound correct. I do get hits when I google it. I guess my question is what is interchangeable with this?

According to this guy, the shaft needs to be at least 20 centimeters, or about 8 inches. I'm not having much luck. Help me out?edit: THIS interchangeable head screwdriver looks like it will work, and it has a magnet in it, so that is a good thing. I'm just not thrilled with the $17 shipping.

One is a 1GHz 17" and the other is a 1.67GHz 17". now on the 1 Ghz i have a row of keys that randomly does not work. on the other the screen is shot. my question is, will the screen on the 1GHz fit on the 1.67 without any problems?

However, the sound is rather tinny compared to my old headset that I used on my PC. Are there any connectors I could buy where I could use my old rca headset and have a usb plug for my iMac? Even if there is such a connector, will it work, or sound any different? Just wish I could plug in the headset and mic directly into the Mac.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought a PCIe eSATA card for my Mac Pro and have installed it, and the system sees it and I'm able to install drivers, but disks aren't showing up when i plug them in.
There is a 4pin power connector on the board as well, but I think that's just so it can power external devices via the 2 power plugs it has on the back.
Are there extra 4pin power cables inside the tower, or a place for me to plug some more in?

The card comes with a mini 6 pin power connector that connects to the graphics card and supplied lead has at the other end a 4 pin power connector to go into the computer's power supply by the looks of the diagram in the box. My question is do I need to connect this to the Mac Pro power supply? The ATI 2600 card in the machine doesn't look like it connects to another power supply.
If I do need to use this then I can only see two small power connectors on the motherboard near the fan, does anyone know anywhere in the UK that would sell a compatible power lead?

I purchased what I thought was an identical replacement screen used for my ibook G4 1.2 ghz. When attempting to install myself, I started to hook the new screen in and noticed I have what I believe is to be 2 power connectors (the connectors with the round pencil lead size connector) where the old screen only had 1. The data connectors were identical.
Do I have the wrong screen, do I use only 1.
I connected MacMini to my TV/Monitor with HDMI cable. Now I want option to listen to audio through my stereo too so I connected a stereo mini plug to the audio output on tegh MACMINI and to stereo miniplug input on my receiver but do not get sound.

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 2243BWX monitor attached to my Mac Pro 1.1 [OS X: 10.6.3] that refuses to display at its native 1680 X 1050 resolution.
System Pref incorrectly sees the display as a "SyncMas461". I've tried attaching the monitor via DVI & VGA connectors with no difference. Any advice?
I have had my MacBook (aluminum) for 6 days, and all of a sudden I go to plug it in to charge (10% left) and the led on the magsafe doesn't come on and the computer doesn't recorgnize the charger (even in system profiler). Upon closer inspection I noticed the LED is on on the magsafe, it is just a very faint shade of green. I have tried a charger from a different MacBook but no luck. And I have also tried my charger and a different macbook and it charged it just fine.. so it's probably not my charger. I know I can go get it replaced but I would really like to not have to take a 45 minute drive to the apple store if i can avoid it. Also, if I get a replacement is it possible for them to just swap my HDD with the new one?

My MBP is just fresh out of warranty but I recall reading something about "Even if your notebook is out of warranty" somewhere on the apple site. I can't imagine this is the case, but is it? View 7 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded my MBP from one of the first unibodys. The new computer is great, but the power cord? Surely that was one giant leap backwards? Yeah it looks cool, but I have nearly destroyed my new MBP many times - that old panicy, heart in mouth feeling when you trip over the power cord and turn round to see you computer sliding towards the edge of the table is back! With the cord parallel to the body rather than perpendicular it doesn't seem to have the leverage to pop out easy any more. Admittedly I am clumsier than most, but then thats why I loved the old magsafe so much. It makes me wornder, am I just using it wrong or does anybody else wish for simpler times?

nothing has corroded (yet) but the magsafe itself feels extremely hot to touch after 30mins or so of use.
is this normal or is it time i give Apple a call?
