IMac :: Magic Mouse Software For Using Finger Gestures?

May 28, 2010

I've been away from my iMac for several months but I remember while checking this site or another one about some software to be able to use finger gestures with the magic mouse. I'm guessing it was similar to how I use on my MBP laptop. Can someone point me to this software?

Hardware :: Magic Mouse - Finger Moves?

Nov 28, 2010

I've had the Magic Mouse for a few months and I'm not overly impressed with it, although I like the sideways swipe very much. But perhaps my preferences aren't ideal. I am using Magic Prefs.

I find the mouse very heavy, with 2 batteries (- it's a pity there wasn't a chorded version - it would be much lighter).

My question: Is there a way the movement of my forefinger can represent the movement of the cursor? i.e. is there a way I don't have to move the actual mouse (it is heavy), but just move my finger around the surface and have the mouse cursor follow?

Hardware :: Magic Mouse 2 Finger L / R Swipes Not Working

Dec 18, 2010

The issue is basically as described in the thread title. Out of nowhere, my Magic Mouse doesn't seem to recognize left and right 2-finger swipes (forward/back in browser and I've also used Better Touch Tool to make it change songs in iTunes). The only change I've made was to install the drivers for a Digidesign MBox 2 (audio/MIDI interface for recording). I checked my mouse preferences, and the box for the 2-finger swipe is checked. I've turned the mouse off and back on, restarted BTT, restarted the computer, and pretty much everything else I can think of. Does anyone have any ideas, or has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there any chance the MBox could have some effect on this?

OS X :: Changing 4 Finger Gestures - Adding 3 Finger Click?

Apr 12, 2009

I was wondering if anyone knew how to change the 4 finger gestures built into OSX? I've looked around and found no way to override them. If nobody is knows directly how to accomplish this I'd also be interested in knowing what libraries the handlers may reside in so I can poke around and try and do it myself.

I'm also interested in trying to find a way to make 3 finger tap do a middle click. Or something along those lines.

Hardware :: Magic Mouse 2 Finger Swipe Gesture No Longer Actually Functions?

Nov 3, 2009

I've had my Magic Mouse since last thursday (29th Oct) and i've noticed the 2 finger swipe gesture no longer actually functions. I'm trying it in Safari (with history available to swipe through) and its definately enabled in the system preferences.

Instead of doing the swipe gesture it now just scrolls left and right. Its also not a case of positioning my fingers wrong as it used to work around 2 days ago and now it definitely no longer works.

I'm going to re-pair it a few times and replace the batteries but if it doesnt magically come back I will be replacing it.Just curious if anyone else who has had their magic mouse for this long has lost this gesture too?

Hardware :: Magic Mouse To Switch Tabs With Two Finger Swipe In Chrome?

Jan 16, 2010

Magic Mouse has this ballyhooed two-finger swipe feature that (in any browser, apparently - I use Chrome) lets you go back and forth on a page. That's great, except I rarely need to go back or forth; switching tabs, however, is way more useful. Is there a way to set up the mouse to do that instead?

Also, I do play some games, nothing heavy duty.Any other thoughts or suggestions would be helpful, especially concerning the magic trackpad as my experience with it is approximately 10 minutes at my local Apple store.

OS X :: Multi Finger Gestures Can Be Used On MacBook Pro?

All jokes aside, I read in Snow leopard (perhaps incorrectly) that two finger and four finger gestures on the trackpad can be used, is there any program on Leopard (10.5.8) that enables these? Specifically it would be great if I could go back in my internet browser by swiping with two fingers.

MacBook Pro :: 4 Finger Gestures Stopped Working In A System

Nov 20, 2009

no restarts, updates or changes) my 3 and 4 finger gestures stopped working. Google led me to this thread: [URL] Seems several people had this problem and there are two solutions posted in that thread. The one I tried first, and it worked, was to create a new user account and switch to it. The gestures worked fine in that account so I tried my original account again and all was good. I deleted the new account and things are still back to normal so far.

It worked fine on my hackintosh with 10.5.8 but not with 10.6.2, so it seems the culprit might be in 10.6.2? It seems that USB Overdrive is the culprit for some, but I don't have it.

Step 1 - Update to 10.5.6 Step 2 - Download and unzip the modified kext file attached to this post Step 3 - Delete the AppleUSBMultitouch.kext file in System/Library/Extensions (this should require the administrators password)Step 4 - Put the modified kext file you downloaded at Step 2 in System/Library/Extensions (this should also require the administrators password)

For anyone who hasnt at least tried the BetterTouchTool, this thing is amazing and a MUST have for anyone with the Magic Mouse or a touchpad. The latest update has made this utility something I would actually pay for. The developer seems to put an update out constantly. The latest update added single finger taps with customizable sensitivity as well as the existing 2 finger swipe up and down and many others. The developer also includes a TON of customizable features.
I havent even begun to explore all the different gestures.

Hardware :: Magic Trackpad Allows Multi-touch Gestures On Desktop?

Jul 27, 2010

Apple has brought the multi-touch gestures available to MacBook users to the desktop with its new $69 Magic Trackpad, as well as a new battery charger for wireless devices like the Magic Trackpad, Apple keyboard, and Magic Mouse.Magic TrackpadThe Magic Trackpad offers Apple's patented multi-touch technology through a smooth glass and aluminum design. It enables users to scroll smoothly up and down a page with inertial scrolling, pinch to zoom in and out, rotate an image with fingertips and swipe three fingers to flip through a collection of Web pages or photos.

The Magic Trackpad can be configured to support single button or two button commands and supports tap-to-click as well as a physical click.Photos of Apple's Magic Trackpad first leaked earlier this summer, showing the multitouch desktop accessory before it was even announced. Earlier this month, the device received FCC approval, though at the time it was simply identified as a mysterious Bluetooth device.Apple first brought multi-touch functionality to its desktops last year with the Magic Mouse, a Bluetooth wireless mouse that allows users to use their fingers to scroll and zoom via the surface of the hardware. Every iMac and Mac Pro comes with the Magic Mouse, though users can now order the new Magic Trackpad for $69 as an option.

Apple Battery Charger Apple claims its new Battery Charger sets a new industry standard by having the lowest standby power usage value ? or "vampire draw" ? of any similar charger on the market. That's the energy most chargers continue to draw after their batteries are fully charged.Instead, the Apple Battery Charger senses when its batteries are done charging and automatically reduces the amount of power it needs. In addition, the reusable batteries that come with each Apple Battery Charger are designed to maintain a high charge capacity for hundreds of charges, so you no longer have to buy new batteries or toss them every few months.Each Apple Battery Charger comes with six AA NiMH batteries, intended to allow users to run their keyboard keyboard and mouse or trackpad, while allowing two more for spare charging.

"Unlike many other reusable batteries, these batteries have an incredibly long service life ? up to 10 years," Apple said. "Which means you can finally break the cycle of buying and disposing of those toxic, single-use alkaline batteries. The batteries that come with the Apple Battery Charger kit also have an extraordinarily low self-discharge rate. Even after a year of sitting in a drawer, they still retain 80 percent of their original charge. That way you always have backup power when you need it[URL]
