View 4 RepliesI was wondering if anyone knew how to change the 4 finger gestures built into OSX? I've looked around and found no way to override them. If nobody is knows directly how to accomplish this I'd also be interested in knowing what libraries the handlers may reside in so I can poke around and try and do it myself.
I'm also interested in trying to find a way to make 3 finger tap do a middle click. Or something along those lines.
All jokes aside, I read in Snow leopard (perhaps incorrectly) that two finger and four finger gestures on the trackpad can be used, is there any program on Leopard (10.5.8) that enables these? Specifically it would be great if I could go back in my internet browser by swiping with two fingers.

Maybe I missed it but is this going to be available via software update for the 1st gen MacBook Air?
Possible yet? I use it tremendously on MB.

am i missing something here?
no restarts, updates or changes) my 3 and 4 finger gestures stopped working. Google led me to this thread: [URL] Seems several people had this problem and there are two solutions posted in that thread. The one I tried first, and it worked, was to create a new user account and switch to it. The gestures worked fine in that account so I tried my original account again and all was good. I deleted the new account and things are still back to normal so far.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tap-to-click enabled, so there's 1 finger tap to click. There's 2 finger tap to right click. There's also 4 finger tap to select an app in the application switcher. But no 3 finger tap! It would work beautifully for me if bound to be a middle-click event. I cannot find ANY mention of this, anywhere. The only results I can find are mentions of the bootcamp XP issue with two-finger taps.So here's my question: Is there any way to expose a 3-finger tap as another event?
View 24 Replies View RelatedRemember, this only works for early 2008 MBP's [edit: and early 2008 MBA's]. These are the ones that already support "multi-touch" (three finger swipe, pinch zoom, rotate). Step 1 - Update to 10.5.6 Step 2 - Download and unzip the modified kext file attached to this post Step 3 - Delete the AppleUSBMultitouch.kext file in System/Library/Extensions (this should require the administrators password)Step 4 - Put the modified kext file you downloaded at Step 2 in System/Library/Extensions (this should also require the administrators password)
View 24 Replies View RelatedI tested with the security setting enabled that requires password when coming out of screen saver, and the gestures still work but all I get is a black screen when gesturing up, and a 'flash' and a black screen when gesturing down.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter installing 10.6.2 my three and four finger gestures don't work. I have ticked and un-ticked it in the preferences and nothing.
View 1 Replies View Relatednot too sure how multitouch tech works. is it software or hardware? if it's the hardware does that mean that it runs on the same tech as my 2007 macbook's trackpad?
View 21 Replies View RelatedI've been away from my iMac for several months but I remember while checking this site or another one about some software to be able to use finger gestures with the magic mouse. I'm guessing it was similar to how I use on my MBP laptop. Can someone point me to this software?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI finally upgraded to Snow Leopard (clean install, then restored backup via migration assistant), and wanted to make use of the three and four finger gestures on the trackpad. However, in my system preferences - trackpad - there is no option for further gestures or similar. My macbook is fairly old (mid-2007), is the trackpad not equipped for that? Â

What's annoying with the new Expose is that is isn't very consistent.
Apps never open in either Cmd1 version (alphabetical) or cmd2 (sorted by apps), it uses some third option where sometimes your window is at the very last of the list.
Is there anyway to force sort by app or alphabetical?
The color of the application switching overlay changed to a black instead of the standard white. I don't know how this happened. Also the color of the on-screen overlays for changing the display luminosity, keyboard backlight and volume changed to black. How to set it back to the standard white?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an annoying problem with application switching since I have upgraded to Mac OS Lion from Snow Leopard. Now switching between applications doesn't work as good as it was in Snow Leopard.
Right now I have Finder and Xcode opened. Xcode is assigned to only one specific Desktop and Finder is assigned to None. And when I am in Xcode for example and use Cmd-Tab to switch to Finder, it deactivates my current window, but doesn't move to the space with Finder or makes Finder active. Then, I press Cmd-Tab again, and it makes Finder active (My top panel controls show Finder now) but I still stay in the space with Xcode. And further switching doesn't do anything. So I then need to manually to click on the Finder icon in the Dock. And the same is vice versa when switching from Finder to Xcode.Â
If I switch by clicking the Finder Dock icon it then works in two steps: first time it deactivates current window, and after second click it moves to Finder Desktop and makes Finder active.Â
Another issue is with Safari when I am in Fullscreen mode and have also Activity window opened. If I am in Finder and switch with Cmd-Tab to Safari, it just shows me the Activity window in the same Desktop no matter how many times I Cmd-Tab. To switch to Main Safari window I need to click on the Dock icon.If I switch only by clicking the Dock icon, then I again need to click it twice.Â
Option for moving to space with selected application in Preference Pane is switched on and Automatically rearrangement of last used applications as well.Â

To move pages up or down i have to use the up down arrows on keyboard or move pointer over scroll bar. I can't find anything in the trackpad sys. preferences
which would allow swipe motions. So where do I go to bring back swipe gestures?

How to remove these strange gestures, moving to top right corner shows the gadgets (same as F4) moving to the top left corner shows all the windows (same as F3).
View 2 Replies View Relatedso I'm wondering how one would go about customizing the trackpad gestures on a new uMBP. More specifically, I want a 4-finger upward swipe to show Spaces, rather than to clear the screen and show the desktop. Is there a setting within OSX for doing this? Or a 3rd party app?
View 6 Replies View RelatedJust got my 17" Macbook Pro about two weeks ago.
At first, I really loved doing gestures on the trackpad.
Now, I find it a nightmare.
It is so easy to move my finger the wrong way and accidentally resize the page. I will be in the middle of surfing or even typing a message and if my finger is not completely curved, I will throw the trackpad into gesture mode and my screen goes into multiple resizes.
I found no way to turn the gestures off under PREFERENCES -> TRACKPAD.
Suddenly, gestures stopped working. I have no clue why. Rebooting seems to have cleared the problem, but could this be a signal of a deeper problem? hardware failure? softtware corruption..maybe a setting somehwere?Â

I have a Rev C Air with the SSD, snow leopard 10.6.1 and all of a sudden I have lost the pinch and squeeze, three finger swipe. All that works is the scrolling. Checked in system preferences and all of the appropriate boxes are checked.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSince getting the new MBP, I've found that I accidentally do the pinch command in Safari ALL the time, which either increases or decreases the text size. This is incredibly annoying, and there doesn't seem to be a way to disable it in Trackpad System Preferences. Is there a workaround (Terminal or otherwise)? If it requires disabling all multi-touch functionality, I'm fine with it.
View 24 Replies View RelatedMy trackpad doens't seem to work when doing 3 or 4 fingered gestures. 2 finger scrolling works and so does clicking. It was working fine last night, even after I did a software update for the new Magic Mouse (which I don't have connected) I've checked system preferences and everything is ticked as it always has been for 3 and 4 finger gestures. I've repaired permissions and I've tried to reset the SCM, however I'm not sure if i've done it correctly.
All the Apple document says is to
hold down the 3 keys and press the power button once.
Then after 5 seconds turn the computer on.
I'm guessing after the 5 seconds i let go of all 3 buttons and then press the power button again to turn it on?
I'm on my first Mac, a 15" 2010 MBP (2.4 Ghz), and I'm absolutely loving the multi-touch trackpad. It makes browsing things so much easier and even more pleasurable.
One thing that I just this second thought of is how to expand the gesture use more.
I'm in Mozilla now, and I moused up to the refresh button, and thought "what if I could refresh the page by just making a swirling gesture on the trackpad? That'd be pretty damn cool." This could also apply to the "stop" button by making an X gesture.
Multitouch-gestures stopped working macbook pro OS X Lion 10.7.5Â , so i can no longer swipe between desk tops etc as normal. Â
System preferences - trackpad - more gestures (are all ticked)Â

So I am about 1 month away from buying a new MBP, and I was wondering what affect VMware fusion has on battery life.
I was also wondering if you could use all the multi-touch features of the touchpad while using a windows program.
In particular, I will be needing Microsoft Onenote.
Quick summary of questions:
1. How does running VMware fusion affect battery life.
I just received my brand new MBA 2.0 from Apple Store, but there were NO FOUR FINGER SWIPE on it ? The 3 tech support guys I went through, were all clueless to what was wrong, they checked firmware, software etc... nothing wrong but the four finger swipe was not on my MBA 2.0
So I am getting a replacement, unfortunately now I have to wait again.. Anyone else with this problem ?
