Apr 12, 2009I was wondering if anyone knew how to change the 4 finger gestures built into OSX? I've looked around and found no way to override them. If nobody is knows directly how to accomplish this I'd also be interested in knowing what libraries the handlers may reside in so I can poke around and try and do it myself.
I'm also interested in trying to find a way to make 3 finger tap do a middle click. Or something along those lines.

OS X :: Option+click Doesn't Work?
Jun 5, 2009I have a Macbook running Tiger. I've been recently hipped to the fact that I can get certain option for lots of apps by pressing option+click when I open a program.
While this seemed to work fine for quite awhile it doesn't seem to be working at all now.
I understand that I need to completely close the program for it to work, but whether I close it with control+Q or by using the drag down menu, option+click doesn't bring up the desired options.

Dec 25, 2010I got a Magic Mouse for Christmas this morning and set up with my Macbook Pro. The setup went quickly and well. I was able to move the cursor around my screen with the Magic Mouse.
However, the click buttons don't work. I have tried left and right clicking and nothing happens.
Is there a problem with my mouse or did I miss something in the setup?

Applications :: Safari 5 Control-click Doesn't Work In Content Area?
Jun 10, 2010Control-click has stopped working for me in Safari 5's content area.
It works fine when clicking on Safari's toolbars and it also works fine in every other app including Finder.
A complete reinstall of Safari 5 didn't solve the problem.
I tried deleting every preference file and cache file I could find but that didn't help. And fixing various permissions and other things in Onyx had no effect.

Jun 15, 2010I read somewhere that you can configure a 4 finger click as something like command-Q. I can't see that anywhere in the keyboard shortcuts menu (there is no trackpad shortcut menu as far as I can see).

May 12, 2010The macbook pro unibody is a lot harder to click. When I first used it my whole arm was more sore. Now my pointer finger and hand in general is getting more and more sore. My old MacBook was so much easier to click. I am thinking of buying a PC and going the hackintosh route. already do use tap to click, hence my finger hurting. If you try the new unibody next to the old macbook pros, the older ones where a LOT easier to click.

Nov 2, 2010just a problem that i hope is easily fixable! this has been happening for a while now but it's only just started to annoy me now that i've realised a whole website won't work with it (beatport.com)
basically when i two finger scroll with safari it works almost all the time, but when my mouse if on top if certain things, usually flash animations and the sort, it just doesn't work. embedded videos are normally the culprits, but like i said earlier a whole website that seems to be mostly flash based, beatport.com if you'd like to test yourself, just won't work at all unless i put my pointer right around the edge of the web page.
is this a known problem that i'm going to have to deal with? if not, does anyone know of a fix? i presume it's software based so hopefully an easy(ish) fix!
Installed Lion But Can't Get Multi-finger Scrolling To Work
Mar 13, 2012I have a MacBook Pro 17 ( two years old maybe) and just upgraded to Lion. I can do the pinching part of the new trackpad Lion coolness but not the scrolling. Which is annoying since the old scroll bars on windows are gone. I have them all selected to be ON in system prefs.Do these features not work on macs that aren't new with a builtin new magic pad?

Dec 22, 2009So I have an i5 27" that came with 4GB RAM (two 2 gig chips). I ordered two more 2 gig chips for a total of 8. When I went to install the two new ones, I followed logical steps. Remove the flexible plastic strip, slide the ram into the slot. However, the ram doesn't click, slide, or pop into place, in any way. I have tried both sides, and I have tried flipping the ram over and doing it backwards. I tried booting the computer with them in there even though they weren't settled in and it froze. I took them out, put the cover back on, and rebooted, and now every time I boot i get a meter that takes forever to fill up. Once booted, the computer does work normally. What am I doing wrong? And how can i fix this painfully long boot process? What have i done.

Jun 3, 2014I downloaded and installed the OS Maverick's recent 10.9.3 update on my 15" Retina Macbook Pro. However since then I am unable to use certain features, like when I right-click on the Desktop, the menu bar shows only two possible options. I cannot "clean up" the icons on my Desktop anymore. Futhermore, I cannot right-click on some places at all - in Finder for example, nothing happens when I right-click on blank space. Only when I right-click on the icons itself does the menu bar pop up, and that only if the viewing mode is in list, columns, or cover flow (basically not in the "icons" viewing mode).
If I understand correctly instead of showing the possible actions that you can't do in grey, it's simply not showing them at all? Either way it's really ugly, and the usefull clean up application is gone!

Jul 8, 2009I told myself not to do it. Don't update the Safari software to 4.0, you know how they always mess up these things. And yet, per accident I did. Of course Safari 4.0 doesn't work. Every time I open it, it shuts down. iChat also doesn't work anymore, and even the Dashboard shuts down every now and then. In addition, the computer feels incredibly slow. I can't download rapidshare links on iGetter anymore and everything just feels wrong. Countless threads have been opened on this matter with a variety of different problems for different people. Yet I have not read a proper solution. I have seen all kinds of technical solutions being offered but I'm not a computer wiz and I do not know the terms they use. I just want to go back to Safari 3.2 or at least the one before the 4.0 But I read that deleting Safari 4 and reinstalling 3.2 won't work because of a certain webkit that got installed with it, making it impossible to go back.
